Good job explaining the possibilities for random misfire. You possibly hit on the one thing that I was suspicious of, and that was the chance for water to leak into the coil channel at time of washing the engine. My E550 with M278 engine was running fine before I did some minor repairs around the front of the engine and washed the dirty engine with garden hose. I will look into the coils for traces of water that could be causing the random misfire. Much thanks for mentioning the possibility of water inside the coil channel.

Great video! Very informative , a not so common one would be a clogged catalytic converter. That will create a incomplete combustion with detonation and misfires.

Unfortunately whoever needs to hear this can't because they have taken their phone into the shower too many times and can't drive to the store to fix it either.
Hi great video but you missed reason 7 and that's because oil gets on the plug or plugs resulting from worn oil rings which allow oil to come up pass the oil ring and soak your plug or plugs with oil causing a misfire, just thought that I would add that because that's what happened to my 2005 Chevy Trailblazer.
You forgot one of the main reasons, a bad or clogged fuel injector or bad fuel injector connector. Also failing fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator causing low furl pressure.

I left it there for a few minutes to absorb the oil. Repeat this a couple of times.
@@itsonlyright3108 you likely have a bad valve cover gasket like I did. The gasket set isnt very expensive (about $65). My spark plugs came gap but I didn’t gap myself. I replace spark plugs. Wires but not the coil pack I did fuel injector cleaner replaced the fuel pump But only code that keeps popping up is misfiring cylinder 1/4. What could it be Should I gap all spark plugs my self
Another thing that can cause a misfire is loose camshaft bearing caps. I had a P0302 which every single garage failed to diagnose. I took the rocker cover off and every single bolt could be unscrewed by hand. Tightened up the bolts in sequence and the misfire went away, I spent money on a coil pack, spark plugs, fuel injectors, and compression tester for nothing. Compression was perfect so it's one to check people.

I don’t have a engine light or code but when I come to stop sign I feel it missing like a minor jerk feeling.
What can be the reason if only 1 cylinder is randomly misfiring only if the engine is warm and always the same cylinder and only while idling?
I have a 2012 ford fusion sport with 121k miles. Started with a lean code. I replaced all fuel injectors. Then it threw a misfire on cylinder two code. Changed out all spark plugs, coil packs, & both cam sensors. Still has a rough idle and misfires when coming to a complete stop. Took to dealership had a compression test done…has compression, spark, & gas. Next thought was timing chain. But now the other day when i went to start it..been sitting for a month or so.. it has a hole in the muffler by the air take system. Could that throw a misfire code?
Can a bad purge valve cause misfire ?
Hi do you know what is the problem with it having a misfire when cold and a tappets noisy 3.5 v6 petrol getting a code p0303 cylinder 3 misfire. Thanks
What do you think the issue is when I the car has slight misfiring, slow lost of coolant, smell light coolant odor, old spark plugs 180k, can overheat sometime? thanks
Hi, I have a 2015 ford explorer and cylinder 2 and 6 misfire only at high ideal like around 35000 rpm and when driving at 55 mpr check engine light start flashing. I change, spark plugs, fuel injector, fuel rail ignition coil all factory parts. And still having the misfire. Do you have any suggestion for me thank you
Cat converter too
Wonderful
I got a 1979 chevy van g20 can a disturbing seal on the bottom make it miss fire can u replaceit
Did you mention bad lifters?
What about o2 sensor 1 upstream. That can give a misfire to the whole bank
How to check for water in fuel hoses? How to get rid of it? I have the only code P0300. When the engine is cool, the car runs as a brand new one. after about 10 minutes driving it starts jerking at acceleration. Meanwhile, the engine still runs smoothly at parking, no matter what rpm is. I have replaced spark plugs and ignition coils two times already. The problem persists. What could be a reason for absence of any other codes? Why it doesn't happen when the engine is cool?
Spark poc?
What didn’t ya use the coil to push the cloth in?
Love the accent
What about an air leak in a vacuum line?
Bad camshaft position sensor can also cause misfires.
i have new spark plugs and they all are gaped right on , new spark plug wires, and still getting misfire ,cylinder 5 misfired 1064 times, #6 misfired 334 times ,#1 misfired 357 times code PO300 ? could it be the coils?? or the injector's???
Can ypu reset the m8sfire on forte 2018 with out changing the coils
what about timing, worn valves/guides, restricted intakes, faulty fuel injectors, blocked exhaust, broken pistons/rings/ringlands, vacuum leaks?
My spark plugs came gap but I didn’t gap myself.
I replace spark plugs. Wires but not the coil pack
I did fuel injector cleaner replaced the fuel pump
But only code that keeps popping up is misfiring cylinder 1/4. What could it be
Should I gap all spark plugs my self
Establish good engine compression first !
Will the engine shake with misfires ?
Another thing that can cause a misfire is loose camshaft bearing caps. I had a P0302 which every single garage failed to diagnose. I took the rocker cover off and every single bolt could be unscrewed by hand. Tightened up the bolts in sequence and the misfire went away, I spent money on a coil pack, spark plugs, fuel injectors, and compression tester for nothing. Compression was perfect so it's one to check people.
