A very interesting thing about the Marvel UK comic is that due to the way the timeline of events unfold, it's heavily implied that it's Straxus' clone of Megatron who becomes Galavtron during the events of the 1986 Movie, instead of the genuine article.
I like to think Galvatron accidentally rewrote his own history in Target: 2006; while originally he was created from Megatron, after his interference in the timeline, his origin was changed so that he was created from the clone. This explains why he can remember things from Megatron II's perspective in Time Wars. You see, if Galvatron hadn't travelled back in time, Optimus Prime would never have been displaced, and thus the Autobots wouldn't have had to work with Megatron. Thus, Optimus wouldn't have faked his death to teach the Autobots a lesson, Megatron wouldn't have hunted him to Cybertron, and Straxus wouldn't have tried to take over Megatron, and thus "Project Re-Birth" wouldn't have been deployed.

Really wish they can incorpoate Straxus or really any other major Decepticon player on par with Megatron in other media. There’s only so much that can be done with Megatron contending with Starscream or being undisputed Decepticon leader.
Well they can do a "real" Rise of the Dark Spark(instead of that crapy game)with more dangerous villains...like, he can team up with Megatronus,Overlord and Dark Rodimus
I agree. I had never heard of this guy before this morning. Other evil leaders make the transformers universe seem bigger, like when the quintessence was introduced in the movie
An interesting story you could tell with Straxus, Is if you combine the Optimus clone story and the Megatron clone story, you could have Straxus kidnap the Decepticon and Autobot leaders and replace them with clones. While the Autobots and Decepticons are preparing for a battle that’s actually trap to destroy both factions. Optimus and Megatron have to work together and fight their way through Straxus lab in order to put an end to his evil scheme.
Lord Straxus is, without the doubt, my #1 favorite Deception. He is one badass-looking villain (especially his face) that deserves more recognition and appearances. He would make a worthy and dangerous rival for Megatron. I just wished there were cooler figurines of him out there, whether by the name of Straxus or Darkmount.
I seriously loved Straxus's Axe, his Axus? His unique cyber-skull and cobra-hood are one of my all time favourite designs for a transformers character and the stuff a villain faction insignia should be based off! The marvel comics, both US and UK, are ridiculous, and I thank you for any dive you take into that wonderful, weird world! Straxus dispenses death but Mr. McFeely dispenses youtube gems!
The original Straxus story was one of my favorites as a kid and I was very surprised to discover he got a toy just about when I came back to Transformers as an adult. What a good video and such a cool obscure character!

I remember this guy as being terrifying back in 86. That whole "Meanwhile on Cybertron" story seemed really dark. This guy was the decepticon leader in charge of the smelting pool, where captured autobots were melted down alive.

I’ve only heard of him cause of earth wars. I thought he was some random con until this video. But don’t we all see that for all bots and cons sometimes
I'm a fan of Straxus from back in the day, In fact I came to your channel looking for a Basics on him, without knowing you'd done one. Glad to see you have and It was nice to learn about what he got up to post MArvel comics.
Thanks for doing a video on him! I bought that exact same toy seen at 4:11 cos he was on sale (£7)! Unlike the other Transformers, I never know about him (cartoon fans) and I was too lazy to read up on him on the Transformers wiki!
Thanks for this one! His name was on the tip of my brain for a week and for a minute I was convinced Jhiaxus appeared in G1 and was Straxus. Relief when I finally got straightened out. 😂
Fun fact: Straxus design was theorized by fans inspired by one of microman figures from Takara (The company who also worked together with Hasbro to create transformers lines). And thus his design in metrowars manga is homage to that fan theories
I am very surprised to see Straxus show up on this. While I haven't particularly kept up with TF since Generation 1 (and a boon your videos have been in helping me catch up a little), I had no idea he continued to be used after that first comic arc. Always assumed he was one of those one-and-done Marvel-created characters that never showed up again. Neat.
Speaking of one-and-done / high-and-die. It might be a cool idea to have a basics video covering every character that shows up for a few panels and dies. Not including any who survive, or any who become popular of course. R.I.P. Hopper
I barely knew anything about Straxus until finishing your video just now but now I'm a fan! Perfect "Basics of" episode, Chris. I love the unique head design and weapon. I hope he pops up again sometime soon!
Everytime I see the UK comic mentioned i’m immediately brought back to being 8 years old and waiting for the next issue every week. Geoff Senior is just the greatest comic book artist. So simple, but so effective.
He was actually in the first comic I ever got. After reading about him and blastar I got more into comics and transformers. I still have the comics in good condition.
I've known of Straxus since the original comics run. I also caught the brief depiction of him in G2. He's in the panel where Thiaxus mentions leaving some "small minded tyrants" in charge of Cybertron.
I could only wish that Straxus would be the main villain in some cases, being the one who took down Megatron, killing Megatron's two loyalists Soundwave and Shockwave, turning humans into his giant robot soldiers, command the three Decepticon triple changers and Menasor and Bruticus, use Darkmount for a fortress, a factory and a war machine, and create super enchanted energon to crush the Autobots, but if it would've been so, it could be dream come true.

I have know about Straxus for a long time and have never really thought about him in this way, but it does make some sense. Just replace Starscream's fear and cowardice, with anger and cruelty. Personally I see him as a little bit of a mix between Shockwave and Bludgeon. Straxus (especially the one in the E-Hobby manga that is only a head) is very intelligent despite his brutish look, similar to Bludgeon. Unlike Bludgeon however he does not care for science that relates to the power of Multiversal Singularities, and other powerful beings, whom Bludgeon has worshipped, and betrayed the Decepticons to do so. He is also like Shockwave because he only has one type of emotion, rage, everything else is ice cold. While Shockwave does not have any emotions, post shadowplay anyway, he has simulated the emotion of rage, which allowed him to beat the Dinobots, and Scorponok.
It's so good to listen to and watch this account on Straxus, Chris! Thanks for the upload. He's a classic character from the 80s Marvel comic. I always enjoyed reading stories with him in them. If you have time to devote to doing an exposé on Emirate Xaaron (or even other less-known characters from the 80s Marvel comic, such as Nautilus, Triton, Scrounge, Trannis, Macabre, or even the cartoon's Halonix Maximus) that would be great - at least for us older fans. Keep up the good work 👏🏾🌟
I had never heard of him until his toy was made in 2010. It is such a cool figure that I began learning about him. I always thought that figure should have been a leader class size due to him converting into a tank and once having led the Decepticons on Cybertron.
I hope someday that Straxus can finally make the leap out of relative obscurity, because I feel like he could be a big deal if only he got a proper go at it.
Dayum bruh. You’ve got so many videos my entire recommended feed is just “basics”. Apparently there’s a bigger appetite for transformers content than I thought!
I originally had the Marvel Comics issue #18 which introduced me to Straxus. His alternate mode was pretty good: a flying cannon. Something Galvatron should have been. Straxus deserves a toy in the Hasbro Transformers toyline today.
Well, the basics is the first time that I hear of Straxus. And we'll, he seems amazing actually, just great. I would love him to be a more used character in Transformers
The uploader does not entertain any idea of non Patreon requests. If you are a Patron, then he will likely do it. Arcee is fairly popular, so she might have been requested already by other Patreon members.
Again Chris you and your crew have done a marvelous job on this video lol Its too bad that this character wasn't in the original g1 transformers toys and cartoon here in North America or I guess he's sort of would have been like a shockwave character who was left behind on Cybertron, it would have been cool at the time to have one of those Toys as a kid. Thanks again
It makes sense, the previous leader, Trannis, did what Megatron could not. He destroyed all the remaining Autobot cities, killed most of their civilian leaders, with Zaaron being the only one left, and secured almost the entire planet, excluding the underground. After he was killed by the Wreckers, who went dark, many Decepticons were restless. When contact with Megatron was reestabiled he frequently worked with Ratbat and Shockwave to take down Megatron, forcing him to fake his death. This does not come close though to the state of the Decepticon Empire just a few years later. While Straxus and Ratbat were out of the picture, Megatron and Shockwave had completely split the forces on Earth. Soldiers were so confused that they followed Megs on week, and followed Shocks the week after that and vice-versa. This got even worse when Scorponok also wanted to be the leader. The Decepticons on Earth were completely useless for the greater cause. Thankfully Thunderwing took over on Cybertron and was the leader during this time, excluding on Earth. In conclusion, the Decepticons had a four-way civil war (technically three-way, but one party was on Cybertron and did not interfere) while fighting the Autobots, humans, and the Acolytes of Unicron who started to appear on Cybertron. Not to mention the Demons who started to emerge from the ground.
Fan from way back. Loved the character. That whole story line was awesome at the time. So dark. Made me really like Blaster, and always made me disappointed in the personality given him in the cartoon. He was such a badass in the comic and Straxus was a fantastic enemy to face off against. Thanks for the video.
I still have his Generations toy to this day. I didn’t know anything about him when I got his toy all those years ago, but I had a soft spot for him, and still do, despite his evilness.
The Formspring RP we had with Derrick J. Wyatt was the best version of Straxus. There, it was the Animated character, who was played as more of a bumbling oaf, kinda like the slightly more menacing takes of Disney’s Pete. But his player was hysterically witty and often relied on bizarre, goofy characters from other universes to do his bidding. For example, he ended up with an innumerable army of Fred Fredburger clones, since a player imagined his voice sounding like Judge Roy Spleen from Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, and Fred regularly tormented the Judge with his love of nachos and his stupidity; the same applies to Straxus and his army of Fred’s. There was a priceless exchange between Straxus and Megatron: Straxus: While you were away, I amassed an army of Fred Fredburgers to take over Cybertron and usurp the Decepticon throne! Megatron: Uh-huh.
The more Decepticons and/or unaffiliated transformers that you mention were part of the Earth wars video game, the more excited I get to unlock them, since I have the game.
I do plan on having him as the main antagonist of my fan story, where Nemesis Prime is depicted as the long lost brother of Optimus and Magnus, who wants to get revenge on Straxus for what the decepticon did to him.
The only way I knew about Straxus was seeing a review of the Darkmount figure a couple years back, but now, I have been enlightened of his true identity.
Strangely enough, the first time I've heard of Straxus ever was the Shattered Glass version from that one issue of TF Timelines where Treadshot, Sir Soundwave, Octopunch and him visited the Classic Universe to help the Autobots stop SG ver. of Ultra Magnus and the evil Autobots. Yeah.
My first experience with Straxus was the Earth Wars mobile game, and knowing nothing about his histories, I coincidentally put him on a team with Nemesis Prime. Never even knew there was a connection

Straxus deserves a toy in the Hasbro Transformers toyline today.
can you do a thundercracker basics ?
@GrandConvoy no he did about starscream , skywarp and slipstream
Well, the basics is the first time that I hear of Straxus. And we'll, he seems amazing actually, just great. I would love him to be a more used character in Transformers
I’ve heard of him before, just never knew a lot about him.
Same here. G1 fan since the cartoon and masterpiece collector and have heard about him but's that about it.
This is the first time I hear about him, and he sounds awesome! Let’s hope he appears on a tv show or even ina live action movie!
If he does appear in a TV show, I hope it is the Netflix series, Straxus has one of those personalities that is not exactly kid friendly.
Oh, I have the original version of the Transformers United EX Straxus 5:08 , and it still holds to this day, mah boi Icepick is still fine
The first issue of the original comic I actually read was the one with him and blaster
Feel like IDW should've made him an Energon miner turned Decepticon because, y'know, pickaxe.
Will you do a Basics on Arcee?
The uploader does not entertain any idea of non Patreon requests.
If you are a Patron, then he will likely do it. Arcee is fairly popular, so she might have been requested already by other Patreon members.
alanguages You must have missed all the episodes that start with a variation “by popular demand”
Basics on Sideswipe and Sunstreaker
I heard about him because of the Transformers trading card game, and he became one of my favourites, I needed this video :D
If this guy was in the g1 cartoon. He would have been a major migraine for Megatron.
First I've heard of him. Now I get the reference from TF: Prime show in Beast Hunters though.
How have we not gotten a new figure of this guy? All they have to do is repaint Kingdom Galvatron
This was a good character for a video. Thank you Jack Bowman! (And Chris :) )
I have the toy. I’ve never been able to remember his name. Thank you for giving it to me. I’ve never heard of Straxus before.
Now, THIS is a character that needs to make an appearance in Transformers animation.
I love that they heavily retooled legacy galvatron to make an official straxus which is an amazing fig this year!
Now video: Transformers the basics of the Megatron.
And now we have the new comic inspired toy
I hope we get Straxus in the Transformers Earthrise toyline and I hope he appears in the Netflix Transformers War For Cybertron Cartoon.
Love the in fighting he instilled in the already volatile decepticon ranks.
5:35 didn't know Jack of this past this point.
“Mercy is not dispensed here, fools! Only- OH COME ON!”
Fan from way back. Loved the character. That whole story line was awesome at the time. So dark. Made me really like Blaster, and always made me disappointed in the personality given him in the cartoon. He was such a badass in the comic and Straxus was a fantastic enemy to face off against. Thanks for the video.
👍🏽 @ :22 And that was the very 1st Transformer Comic I bought.... Straxus had me thinking -- Megatron who ??
I still have his Generations toy to this day. I didn’t know anything about him when I got his toy all those years ago, but I had a soft spot for him, and still do, despite his evilness.
3:50 that weapon he's holding looks like the sword/axe megatron had in tlk
Megatron mourning the death of his clone is shockingly somber
I remember first finding out about Straxus from an old Transformers Stop Motion series
Never heard of him before! Thanks for the education. And saying Bob Budianski again, wouldn't be an episode without his name!! :D
You know, his fortress, dark mount actually appeared in transformers prime.
I've been waiting for this for so long! (Surprisingly)
There was a priceless exchange between Straxus and Megatron:
Straxus: While you were away, I amassed an army of Fred Fredburgers to take over Cybertron and usurp the Decepticon throne!
Megatron: Uh-huh.
The more Decepticons and/or unaffiliated transformers that you mention were part of the Earth wars video game, the more excited I get to unlock them, since I have the game.
4:10 like to add, the Emplacement Cannon mode was a fan made mode. Very cool mode
It actually wasn't! Check out his instructions! www.unicron.com/tfitem/itemimage_view.php?mode=instructions&itemID=1696
I do plan on having him as the main antagonist of my fan story, where Nemesis Prime is depicted as the long lost brother of Optimus and Magnus, who wants to get revenge on Straxus for what the decepticon did to him.
Damn I thought I knew everything I needed to know about transformers in their characters. You taught me something new thank you
The only way I knew about Straxus was seeing a review of the Darkmount figure a couple years back, but now, I have been enlightened of his true identity.
*ONLY D E A T H*
I've waited FOREVER for this
Strangely enough, the first time I've heard of Straxus ever was the Shattered Glass version from that one issue of TF Timelines where Treadshot, Sir Soundwave, Octopunch and him visited the Classic Universe to help the Autobots stop SG ver. of Ultra Magnus and the evil Autobots. Yeah.
We've gone three episodes without cosmically powered Starscream... It's so empty without him.
It feels like transformers animated scenes for other characters got cut a lot come to think of it
Thank you Jack!
Stratus thought he was gonna take over Megatron's mind
My first experience with Straxus was the Earth Wars mobile game, and knowing nothing about his histories, I coincidentally put him on a team with Nemesis Prime. Never even knew there was a connection
I will never forgive him for executing Scrounge in the Smelting Pool.
Never knew about Straxus until now..his alt mode as artillery cannon looks cool. Same as my favourite Galvatron.
I only heard of him due to the fact that I saw darkmount toy first and then this, thanks for the info and keep up the good work.
