I always found Tiberium War's grenadiers to be the funniest unit in the game:
We utilize rocket-propelled, AI assisted, high explosive grenades and an EMP variant for special situations.
    Awesome! That's the delivery mechanism?
    YEET!

I love the early designs of GDI infantry, they have this post-apocalyptic aesthetic that reminds me of fallout. I mean they pretty much are suited to fight in very hostile environments not much different from an irradiated wasteland.

Tiberian Sun has a very dark post apocalyptic vibe, IMO the style looks best in the series, but it's the worst for gameplay (hard to see units, contrast etc.)

Perhaps the craziest thing ever to exist in the Tiberium universe is the M1 Helmet served as the main combat helmet for the Allied soldiers. After that, 60 years later even some GDI soldiers still use it until after the end of the 1st Tiberium War. While the olive green combat uniform, used by the Allied soldiers remain in usage by GDI forces in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Tiberium Wars!

@BucketBoatable I missed the early c&c games, also because backwards compatibility isn't very good.

This is why i considered C&C 3 bit of an dissapointment. After the heavy post-apo, scifi feel, the Tiberium Dawns return to tanks and relatively normal weapon system felt like huge step back.

You say "GDI Infantry", I hear "Rifle Squad, ready!" 😎
I just love TWIII GDI armor designs, especially composite armors and tiberium field suits. They just so sick. But in my opinion, ALL GDI military branches should utilize Combat Engineers as armed counter to NOD saboteurs who booby-trap neutral building and other high value stractures.
But once again, thank you Jethild! You keep this community and C&C series alive. 😇

I think lore wise, the GDI thought it'd be better to have engineers focus on one trade well rather than have 2 different skill sets, but I agree, all utility units should have personal defense weapons for self defense but I guess balance wise that'd screw things a bit

    • @kungfuskull
      @kungfuskull 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

@@koolguy751well, could make it so that one engineer with a PDW is fairly useless: only able to run n gum to flee; but if you take the time to get a dozen engineers, with their money and time costs both; then they can work as a psuedo squad and can deal with NOD bottom-tier fodder, but specialists are still a pronlem; that'd be interesting to see!
Then again; could just... kinda flood the field with one backup squad of riflemen and perhaps an anti-vehicle group each. I've done that vs AI in skirmish mode and it has broadly worked; a weird combo of wide utility makinv them both vulnerable to stuff like confessors and light vehicles, but also have a decentfy strong.backup to such events....

As someone that leans towards being GDI's commander. This video makes me so happy to see how badass the GDI infantry are. They look both cool and practical while being better trained, better equipped compare to NOD's counterparts. While NOD is better at fast hit and run tactics and stealth, GDI is all about the direct combat frontline. In the 2nd Tiberium war both NOD's and GDI' infantry looks so awesome but I still lean towards GDI infantry. In the 3rd Tiberium war the infantry lost their badass gear but still effective and powerful even against late game units. Rifleman/missile squads together makes dreams come true.

It is a miracle that GDI in Tiberian Sun were able to outfit all of it's soldiers with latest gear 10 years after the First Tiberium Wars. Also, Westwood back in 1999 did predicted how soldiers in the future would equipped themselves before the battle begins as evidenced at 16:54 (The Second and Third Tiberium War era GDI combat helmet resembles the FAST and Integrated Head Protection System worn by modern day soldiers, while the M16MK2 and GD2 rifles resembles the modern era AR-15 variants).

@@racer927 I REALLY doubt it would take that much difficulty to balance such a thing, especially since these two are rather specific to specific factions within their respective games, heck just a minor five points of damage that can't be affected by upgrades would have been fine to me, keeps the idea from being too powerful (especially in the case of RE3 since Peacekeepers lost damage at ranged combat compared to CQC)

    • @dracmeister
      @dracmeister 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

@@cursedhawkins1305CnC not the type of game a realistically armed Tank works in.
Since, the games are focused in unit diversity you'd want the different units perform as different functions as possible with very little (or at best none) overlap.
If you gave Tanks in this franchise a coaxial mg like irl, you're kinda defeating the purpose of rifle infantry because at the end of the day, a tank with a coaxial gun is just a beefier rifleman with a tank cannon effective against armor.
You can't just say "5 damage unaffected by upgrades" because it doesn't fully grasp the idea that you may have a lot of these units. Numbers can easily snowball that damage value.
On top this with C&C3 as the context, you know that the Railgun upgrade exists not just for the Mammoth Tank, but for all cannon-based units and structures? Except the Rig. The Railgun upgrade boosts damage significantly EVEN to armortypes that resist cannon damage (yes, Railgun is also cannon as a damage type but the value is much, much higher) that adding a coaxial machinegun is kinda overkill.
Let's look into the modding scene, shall we? From personal experience? I've never seen a mod of any CnC game that gave a Tank a coaxial machinegun that is a Tier 1 unit, they're usually Tier 3 or more units.
Mods that DO have a Tank with a coaxial machinegun fall into two categories:
A.) Realism mods that drastically change the gameplay of the base game a bit.
B.) Half-Realism mods that just like but the latest military hardware on a non-realistic setting are often just put in there because it was cool and not because it's balanced.
Just take a look at Starcraft. There's a reason why different units have their role. Heck RA3, has some deep mechanics with unit special abilities that bring a layer of depth to learning it.
      Side Tangent:
I mod C&C Generals/Zero Hour. One of the inquiries we get in our modding discord are people who like to make tanks the killing machines they are in irl.
We can help you make that unit, but you'll need to learn the concessions and compromises you'll face with something say, targetting; you'd have to be keen on what weapons you put on your unit since the game still needs to decide what weapons the unit uses, and sometimes, the game wants to try and shoot all of the weapons, which may conflict with each other in terms of range, area of effect or heck, what you set the weapon to be used as.
And if you're hoping to balance it THAT way, then you've have to do the same to EVERYTHING else. Everything would need a counterplay.
Unless you're not really gunning for balance, we're not gonna stop you.

Hey! Been loving and sharing your stuff for a long while now! I have a request, though: can you do a video about the actual ideology/beliefs/religion/etc of NOD? Because even after playing ALL the games (except 4, obviously) like a dozen times each... I don't really get it beyond "tiberium is good" but why? And "we hate GDI" i mean... kinda understandable, but, you also talk about faith a lot, and temples, etc: so... it seems more like a newage unifying religion. So... what does it preach? What do they believe? Why? (Beyond the charisma of Kane and the desperation of people in the wasteland areas).
So, I'd really really love for you to do such a video! Both for all our enjoyment, and so when my friends witn whom I share your videos then ask me "so what does NOD actually want?" I dont get... stuck, haha.
Thanks! I hope you take my suggestion into consideration! Keep dping great work!

Brotherhood believes in ancension of mankind to higher place of existence, untied together as one family, through Tiberium, cybernetics and advanced tech (And Scrin tech by the end of the last war), how this anscension might happen is debatable, it could be Jones Town 2.0, or Havens Gate 2.0, where its just a mass suicide. We never get to see the aftermath but i dont expect Kane to actually expect others, which he just uses as steps of ladders to actually get to the "promised" lands. Speaking of mass death ...
Which is what would happen if GDI couldnt stop the World Alternating Missile in the second war, if that thing would go boom and "ascend" the mankind by transforming them to tiberium based beings, what would happen in reality is that mankind would be eradicated on the spot, because not everyone is capable of becoming a tiberium mutants and the handful of survivors that could become something more would get boned when Scrin would inspect what was that planet wide tiberium energy flash.
Just as any real life cults, they can get members and hold on by blaming the problems they caused/problems that are completely out of control on others. If Brotherhood didnt fight with GDI, there would be no yellow zones, no planet wide exctinction, all the things they blame GDI for when its their doing.
Speaking of anscending, even at the end of the third war on Brotherhood side, we dont get to see how the promised land looks like - it wouldnt be pretty for sure, because nobody would survive on another planet without spacesuits lol unless its Earth-like, esp if its some air-less, -60 C rock in space or tragically even worse, where do the treshold towers lead to ? well certain death, because Scrin just used them to escape and they wont like some rando humans following them. And if it leads to their homeworld, then death would be even quicker..

Fun fact the Zone Troopers took a lot of inspiration from the novel Starship Trooper's Marauder Suit in fact they are pretty much similar and yet very different to one another, the Mobile Infantry in the Novel are equipped with a Power Suit that gives them strength to crush through tanks or smash through concrete walls, they are equipped with high explosive weapons like Tactical Nuclear Missiles and Grenades, a Hand Held Gun, a Flamer that can be set on 'Knife Mode' which was used to slice opponents. They are also equppied with Jump Jets to traverse the terrain faster similar to an attack helicopter
Zone Troopers are the the less firepowered version of the Mobile Infantry in the Novel in fact the in game design steal some design concept from the Scout Suit 2nd Class in the Game Starship Troopers Terran Ascendancy.

After the First Tiberium War the technology of grenades and various handheld explosive went through a long and productive evolutionary process. By the Second Tiberium War grenades had changed from the standard hand thrown "pineapples" of yore and had become disc shaped impact explosives that, if the soldier was properly equipped, were thrown from a special motorized wrist launcher. The efficient disc shaped grenades were at the same time more powerful and longer ranged than older hand grenades, with a 40% higher kill ratio. The aerodynamic shape increased range and allowed the discs to skip along the ground. However, the cumbersome back mounted storage and launching system for the grenades also made it difficult for a Disc Thrower to hit his target sometimes. The grenade is equipped with smart detonation system that will explode on impact with enemy or later, removing fear of unexploded ordnance. The explosive packed inside is potent enough to effect infantry and vehicle with blast and premium damage. Aircraft cannot be targeted, bearing the nature of the weapon.
The armour worn by the disc throwers is a slightly upgraded version of that used by regular light infantry units, modified to protect the wearer from shrapnel with a back-mounted disc storage system.
Did Jethild mention anything about a specialized motorized wrist launcher in the form of a bionic arm on a Disk Thrower in the video???
