I totally agree with this comment. I wonder if touring with Def Leppard had anything to do with polishing his skill? I’m not a big fan of Def Leppard, but they do play a more “quieter” live show than this setting was. Anybody that plays guitar knows that less distortion requires more skill. And as many shows that Def Leppard has played, they have perfected their sound down to every note it seems. It’s almost like hearing the studio versions of the songs they perform live. So ya, in my opinion, being in that situation every night, plus the fact this was his song to begin with, no doubt he sounded so clean through out. Next level indeed.

It was good. Would have been more impressive if it was sung in the original key and not everything tuned to E flat. However, the guitar is still absolutely awesome.
Having Vivian Campbell playing second fiddle In def leppard is like driving to Tesco’s in a Ferrari. He should have been a bigger star than he was. Saw him in Belfast in the early days in sweet savage. We all knew he was going somewhere. Great guy. And a great player.
I’m a big Leppard fan and am really disappointed in how his role has developed in the band. Their current album has none of his song writing on it. Phil is great but Vivian is phenomenal and should be more out front than he is. If he’s happy, that’s what matters though.

Happiest I’ve seen him on stage for years. He just stagnates as the rhythm guitar in def lep where Phil solo’s over most songs and NEVER lets Vivian do any solo! Sure, he gets paid, but what a creativity-crusher that gig is!

Vivian's playing aged perfectly. This is what musical maturity looks like. He built upon something already great and made it more passionate, smoother and more carefully crafted. Easily in my top 5 guitarists.
The singer shouldn't be having the crowd singing the lines of such a nuanced song. To me that's a let down and bad taste, not doing his job. But perhaps in the middle of some party rocking song that old concert gimmick still works without taking away from the music too much.
What a respectful and competent performance - and on top of it all Viv is playing with such an ease and cheerfulness that really underlines what a world class guitar player he is. Awesome.
And Vinny is such a good guy..He has nothing bad to say, only positive vibes from him. And let's just say a lot of people in this business seem to have lot of grudges..I think this is due to the fact that Vinny does not have a huge EGO. He was a good hardworking guy, and put in his best. And if you are good with that, karma will follow.....Love Vinny!
@@dabo7130 nice! I’ve never met Vinnie before but I did get to spend an evening with his brother Carmine. His brother was an awesome gun, total gentleman. We had him in for a drum clinic at my old job and Carmine was fantastic. Afterwards we went out to dinner and bs’d for a good 4 hours while eating and having some drinks. He gave me some great insight into the industry, talked about his book and how he worked out the deals with that, and how Rod Stuart was such a good guy for giving Carmine a writing credit on “If you want my body...”. I would imagine that Vinnie is just as good of a guy as his brother. Awesome evening that I will never forget.

I saw Vivian Campbell before he joined Def Leopard. He was amazing. When he joined Def Leopard I understood his role but wanted to hear more from his talents. He will ALWAYS SHINE ON.
With Def Leppard he's a team player and he shares the stage with the great Phil Collen, With this Band you really get see and hear his chops. Truly one of the greats.

Idk how Viv can play Pour Some Sugar On Me with a straight face after being such an integral part of the band Dio and the insanely good heavy rock they made.

With Def Leppard he's a team player and he shares the stage with the great Phil Collen, With this Band you really get see and hear his chops. Truly one of the greats.
I think everybody freaked when he joined and became more the rhythm player. Collen was so underrated back then.
@@peterwinters8587 I'm not a big fan of Collen's playing, and I feel Vivian's amazing talents are wasted in Def Leppard, but it pays the bills as they say.
@@SPQRTempus - Yeah, Phil Collen is pretty generic, IMO. Vivian taking a back seat to him is like having Michael Jordan riding the bench in favor of Spuds MacKenzie. Leppard’s first two records were great, but they lost the plot soon after and became just another over-produced, cheesy 80’s band. Idk how Viv can play Pour Some Sugar On Me with a straight face after being such an integral part of the band Dio and the insanely good heavy rock they made.

We go see them here in Chicago every year in St Charles pack it all the time decent rock club even came back twice couple of times they are a great live band
