    Michael, nice video as always. I really like the side by side comparison of these two tuning systems. I've yet to take the plunge with mods for my Type R (it's a 2018 MY I've owned it since Dec. '17). Shout-out to the guys at Hybridworks. I've had my Type R dynoed there before and their results seem consistent. Be aware that heat soak can sometimes cause later runs to read lower HP results than earlier ones (at least that's been my experience).

    Another awesome video!! It’s cool to see all the things each tuner does!! I bought a 2019 civic Type R two months ago!! I have owned several Civic Si’s !! I traded a 2017 Si when I go the Type R!! I have had fun with it but only have put a few hundred miles on it so I am waiting to get through the break in period!!! I am going to keep the Type r for longer than I kept my Si’s!! I am going to just keep it completely stock!! But I do love seein what benefits people are getting with various tunes and modifications!! Keep up the incredible work Michael!! I love the channel!! Have a great week and God bless!!

KTuner was dropped out - because no features like variable launch control, full throttle shift, etc... no development and support for older cars :-( I love Hondata the programming is so simple, it has also support for gear ratio setup etc... The problem I had with the Hondata base 'tunes' (on an FA5) was they were way way to aggressive. I didn't mind too much as I knew I was going to be tuning the car but it was surprising to see the amount of knock after 1 run. I think I ran their stock 'tuned' map for like 10 mins before I switched back to stock and tuned from there.
    I'm pretty sure that the factory high pressure fuel pump can't keep up with the demand that E85 puts on the fuel system. Probably why it made power down low but non up top.
    Awesome video and great information!

    • @sloth4urluv
      @sloth4urluv 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ben Cork
      Definitely the stock fuel pump is a limitation on this car, but the limitation is fuel flow per cycle so it’s actually more a limitation at lower RPMs where you encounter peak boost.
      The boost pressure drops at higher RPMs where peak power is generated. So even though the total fuel flow is higher, the flow per cycle is less.
      For instance on my 93octane tune my fuel pump is at around 93% at peak torque, and 77% at peak power.

    • @GridZilla
      @GridZilla  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ross Hines there are some other issues I ran into other than fuel pump limitations but everything is looking better. I'm going to try to get part 2 done soon.

    hello Michael, about the HP with the flex-fuel map, i think the ethanol fuel will not give you more horse power and torque if you dont tune the ignition. when you use standard gas your ignition is tuned to don’t risk « auto ignition ». the ethanol don’t give you power but it will push the boundaries of auto-ignition and thanks to that, you can now tune ignition to win more HP, securely.
    are you ok with my opinion ? (Ethanol = push auto-ignition limit=more ignition advance= more HP and TQ safely)
    (Sorry for the speech i’am not English speaking^^)

    I’d like to see part 2. Hondata is too specific on mods. One intake to the next will not make a difference cause all except hks use the same size diameter. Injen short ram does worse cause heat soak. Intercooler will have some effect but really it should lower boost numbers cause cold air is more capable of hitting power. I’m wondering with flex fuel did you even change the fuel?? Hope to find out part 2.

    Hondata Flashpro can hold 2 maps which you can upload to your jail broken Bosch ecu with or without a laptop. Hondata can change it to hold more maps in the future updates. Hondata is definitely focused on the Type R platform and since I’ve owned my race version Hondata Flashpro, I’ve updated multiple times and they’re continuously coming out with more updates. 30% Ethanol calibration, Traction control, Flex Fuel, fuel pump control, etc. Hondata has been tuning Hondas fir decades. Hondata ftw! Fyi I personally would never tune my own vehicles and will use Hondata’s ots map all done by Daniel @ Church automotive who I have personally known has extensive tuning experience with many Honda Race teams. Make a summary in the description or at the intro, I don't have time for a 25min video

    In the future, will you please, Please, PLEASE, not play lame music in the background during the entire portion where you are talking? It doesn't make your videos better, more professional, or more interesting. It makes them cheesy and difficult to watch. I found it so distracting and annoying I about could not watch the entire thing, and missed a lot of what you said.
