Thank You abhineet chaudhary. Millet is a gluten free ancient grain. Many people do really well with it, but if you are diabetic it is still 70-80% starch. I don't eat it regularly, but we feed it to the birds. 😄

just want to say that I have followed your advice and you honestly may have saved my life...
I was 287 pounds with a 90 resting heartbeat and a average of 165 / 90 blood pressure WITH medications.
I was just recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and I saw one of your videos and starting to put your methods into practice. It has been 3 and a 1/2 months and I am down in weight from 287 pounds to 228 pounds! My resting heart rate has gone down to 77 beats a minute! My blood pressure has gone down to 120 / 70 and my blood sugar never goes past 100 even when i eat! (Says around 80 while fasting).
I cannot express my gratitude enough Sir, you have My respect and I truly believe in your truth because I live it!
(My apologies but I am going to post this same comment on your other videos in the hope you will see it or that it may inspire someone else).

Dr. Ekberg I am a four year disciplined follower of intermittent fasting, time-restricted eating (NEVER eat after Sundown) and eating of natural and organic foods and very little bread. It turned my poor health - facing heart and knee surgery - completely around - NO surgery or drugs. You were part of that. I appreciate your informed and clearly and simply reported - for the layman- knowledge and wisdom.
I am 70 years of age. I recently shot my age (70) in a round of golf - a very rare accomplishment. I recently won the 60+ men age group in a 5K hilly cross-country race - beating ALL the 14 men ALL of whom were younger than me. But my average weekly mileage for the past 6 months was only 1.2 miles (hardly anything). Last week I swam 1,700 yards (almost a mile) but it was only the 3rd time that I have swum in the past 2 years. I barely exercise although I was a fit runner/triathlete over a decade ago. How is this possible given I was supposed to have heart and knee surgery 4 years ago?
Our bodies were designed to performed "Olympically" - IF TREATED PROPERLY. I know that I am "preaching (not only) to the choir)" but to one of the choir leaders and an athlete. I want you and your readers to know this bit of hidden critical wisdom.
Around 1752 a British lieutenant, Henry Timberlake lived with the indigenous Cherokee indians for about year near the Smoky Mountain area. As a soldier of about 34 years of age, of that heartier era and having walked most of the way from the east coast, he was fit. Yet in his 1800 autobiography, he wrote of how fit the indians were. This was only a small page or two (way in the back as though not that important). He sheepishly reported that even the older women were impressive. As an example, he cited one woman whose age he knew (62) and she was about an inch or so shorter than him. He said she would routinely carrying a lot of weight which he estimated at about 200 pounds. He did not say what she was carrying but I guessed it might have been a yoke across the back neck to carry water (?) He sheepishly admitted that he could not do what that woman was doing. I learned of this man and book in reading that the TN Valley Authority (TVA) used his book to find lost Indian villages - so that they could save archeological artifacts - prior to building the dams and flooding the area in the 1930's. They found him to be extremely accurate. A precise man. So it is unlikely his book was an exaggeration about what he witnessed.
In addition Timberlake reported that he learned that the "elders" included "a noticeable number of people around 150 years of age".... and "still quite active". Contrast that historical fact with today's "modern medicine" culture. Maybe the accounts that Abraham (and others) lived to 175 are true.
And why did Timberlake travel so far mostly on foot. He volunteered to be a "Treaty hostage" for a treaty between the British and the Cherokee - who did not trust the British AT ALL and demanded a "hostage" who would have had a horrible end if the British reneged on the treaty. He lived a long life and passed on these brief but invaluable bits of wisdom from the past.
In the spirit of Mr. Timberlake, keep up the great work. Looking forward to the next tube-of-wisdom.
PS. I will be providing comments to one of your videos on fasting. Two incredible stories beyond even my experience.

You should really fast for a full 24hrs (drinking only pure filtered water) once a week to get the full cleansing the liver and kidneys require to clear out the toxins they absorb. However, if what you are doing is working for you then more power to you.
I fasted "religiously" in the manner I described for about two years (including no smoking; I was and am still a smoker) and it produced profound beneficial effects.
It's been well over 10 years since I last did it and I believe my body may now be "telling me" I need to return to the practise once again.

Giving up bread was probably the single best decision of my life ever, it was also one of the hardest tho, I spent almost 30 years eating at least 2 slices of bread every single day; the first 2 weeks after giving it up, I felt the worst withdrawal I've ever felt in my life, I was very anxious, but those two weeks were the most substantial to my weight loss & health path (I lost like 9kg in those two weeks, just by giving up bread), all my life I was convinced that bread was a staple and I would feel weakness if I gave it up because "I would not have carbs", now that I see this video I'm 100% that it's the best decision I've ever made and after 2 years without bread I feel great and don't miss it at all...

The Organic Yoghurt I eat is local to my country (South Africa). I buy it from a shop called Woolworths. All that it has is organic full cream milk, two types of live cultures and plant based stabilizers. There are no preservatives so you have to eat it within 3 days of opening.
So for breakfast I eat this yogurt with a banana, blackberries, blueberries and raspberries.
For lunch I'll have some protein(boiled egg, ostrich, chicken etc), salad, avo and fold it in a wrap( cauliflower ).
Then for dinner, anything healthy really. Chicken salad, steak, curry, stirfry etc.
Portion sizes are also key. Stop eating until you get that feeling of been full. Don't go for seconds. 3 smaller portions of meals a day is more then enough. Within 2 weeks your stomach will shrink and you will feel like you no longer need to eat as much anymore and the hunger pains will go away.
Trust me once you change your diet and stay mentally strong, the rest will follow.

I haven't eaten bread for 8 weeks. And out of all the carbs I've cut, bread was the hardest. I work long hours including nightshifts and putting some toast on at 2am was such a morale boost and an easy go to. I don't get cravings for cereal, pastry or potatoes but sometimes I miss bread. Sadly, I found out I had Celiac disease about 10 yrs ago. The transition from a wheat gluten diet to a non gluten diet was extraordinarily difficult. Celiac also causes various sensitivities to other types of gluten and just some other foods in general. If you eat in restaurants there is no way to avoid accidental gluten no matter how hard you try. It takes me about a week to recover from eating hidden gluten and it is not pleasant.

Similar story. Coeliac is unique, as diseases go, in that once you stop eating the poison that triggers its symptoms (gluten), recovery from the damage is rapid, with even the gut fully self-repairing in less than 2 years. I wish I'd discovered I was coeliac decades ago. The damage is systemic and the symptoms so varied it can be difficult to make the necessary connections. And coeliac often occurs with other immune system related diseases, which further muddies the waters

Like a lot of working class people in the UK I grew up eating a lot of bread . For various reasons, in my early 2O's , I started to go down the vegetarian route which meant I ended up even more bread . Over the years I ate better quality bread , so in the end I was eating expensive wholegrain artisan bread . The consequence of this was that I ended up getting fatter and sicker - which was not what I expected . Fortunately I read the zone amongst other books and learnt about hyperinsulinemia / metabolic syndrome , so was able to modify my diet for the better . However I still ate high quality wholegrain bread . For Lent this year I decided to give up bread as part of my onward keto journey . Within a week something very obvious happened to me . My chronic sinusitis / nasal congestion that I had lived with since childhood just disappeared . That provided me with the positive reinforcement I needed to carry on avoiding bread . In the following months I started losing stubborn inches from around my waist . It was always frustrating to have a beer belly although I barely drank alcohol . Anyway for me it's been a win win situation . Along with IF , given up bread has had a dramatic positive effect on my health 👍. Merry Christmas one and all ⛄🌲

    • @DublinGav
      @DublinGav 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I'm suffering with this congestion myself for ever and I'm wondering if this is the issue. I'm 42 and don't smoke. Carrying a few extra kilos but wouldn't say I am obese. Regularly run 5kms ans bike 50/60km so fitness is OK. Could be better I suppose.
I also was brought up on bread. Its the one food that was cheap and always there and I know it hits my hunger. I eat so much. Far too much and can't imagine life without it. I lash the butter on too.
I know it has to stop as I am getting older ans the metabolism will be slowing down.
I'm going to do this 30 day challenge from today. I want to stop the reliance on Bread and improve my health.

    • @michaeldillon3113
      @michaeldillon3113 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@DublinGav All good luck to you with that . I think that because I got the positive reinforcement from the congestion clearing that I was able to give bread up . Chronic sinus congestion was just part of my life . I also am a regular exerciser , as well as practise yoga and meditation . I haven't smoked for years and am only a moderate drinker . Was hospitalised a few times as a child with impacted sinuses . I am a great fan of Jason Fung so intermittent fasting has really helped as well . I was never big on breakfast ( possibly because I had eaten late ) so it wasn't a problem to skip breakfast . What used to be impossible for me was to have a couple of slices of bread
and keep the loaf for later . No the whole loaf would go , but now I understand the physiology of insulin I understand why that would happen - and it wasn't a matter of willpower . Anyway - good luck to you . Wheat may not turn out to be your trigger - but it was my main one ✌️

I am a 54 yo American male of Irish/Scottish ancestry, standing 5'5" and on 1 Dec weighed 204.7 pounds - the heaviest of my life (left h.s. at 127lbs).
For the entire month of December 2021 (31st today) I ate only a vegetarian diet. Additionally, I made most food, avoiding highly processed food which included breads. My only (primary) source of sugar was raw honey. My dairy intake consisted of kefir, yogurt, cheese and eggs.
    What were my findings?
    1) appetite reduction, as well as zero cravings for meat or sugars
    2) abdominal regularity (no bloating or discomfort)
    3) energy increase
    4) decreased joint stiffness or pain
    5) better quality sleep
    6) my waist and abdomen have decreased in circumstance (I measure and weigh tomorrow).
However, on one occasion (23 Dec) for dinner I had a few slices of vegetarian pizza and within 10 mins my abdomen blew up as if I had a basketball under my shirt - it was tight as a drum - and lower abdominal pain followed, along with gas and a less than firm bowel movement the next morning.
For the 31 days of January 2022 I will fast, ingesting water only. I did this December 2020, with amazing results. Then in February I'll return to a vegetarian diet and afterwards access my health. At that time I'll slowly transition back to an omnivorous diet by introducing one type of meat each month beginning with fish in March, poultry in April, beef in May and pork in June. My findings will determine a permanent lifestyle change.

Thank you for all this info about wheat. I have been aware of my problem with its consumption for 40 years (I am 71 and have been type 2 diabetes for about 20 years). I had digestive problems from infancy acne and depression from my teens plus severe headaches and bloating in my 30s. It was during this time that I read a newspaper article claiming that these symptoms could possibly be caused by eating wheat in all forms - bread, cakes, biscuits and pasta. I realised that I was consuming these things in great quantities as if I was addicted to it. I decided to put this to the rest and stopped eating all forms of wheat for a fortnight. After a week I was headache free! By the end of the two weeks my skin was much clearer and the bloating had decreased considerably. I found that I could eat rye with no problems
so my diet consisted of Ryvitas and rice cakes as part of a much healthier diet. I have had no help or advice from GPS and have either been laughed at or ignored as if I am crazy although I discussed this with an Indian doctor who was a locum at my hospital who told me that wheat is actually poisonous to humans and that no one should eat it at all. Unfortunately he must have move to another hospital because I never saw him again.

I developed a problem with insulin, being tired, overweight, and high blood pressure. My primary position has tried, but has not been able to resolve my problems.
I decided to search for an explanation about problems that I did not understand. Someone needed to explain things in such a way that they were understandable, somehow or another I found you! I try to watch one of your videos every day. A few of your videos I have had to watch twice and one video I had to watch it three times. I am limiting sugar to about 3 tablespoons a week. Anything with alcohol is totally gone my love for baking bread is suffering because I have totally quit eating bread because of your videos. When things normalize, and I feel good again, as I should, then I shall eat bread again.
I appreciate the clarity of your teachings. Thank you.

Great vid. Went cold turkey on gluten 4 years ago (wheat, barley, rye, etc) due to excessive back and groin pain and it changed my life. It was by far the best thing I ever did for quality of life. I lost weight with no effort, back and joint pain went away, skin problems cleared up and my mind was clearer. I know I sound like an infomercial, but it is what it is. Your explanation of the slow to digest element of wheat/many grains (and gluten) makes a ton of sense and the Pinsa, invented in Italy in the early 2000s is a great option for those that love pizza but hate the bloated/full feeling. While Pinsa is not gluten free, the wheat/rice/soy combined with a sourdough starter and long fermentation creates a easily digestible dough that someone with NCGS can like enjoy. I much appreciate your channel as I've been fighting the cholesterol scam since I was playing college soccer with a 300+ TC and a roommate was a research assistant and aware of unpublished studies. The pharma industry has way too much control and I've been pushing back since the early 80s. Now, in my late 50s I'm at my college soccer weight, run with the 30 year old's and enjoy an active mountain lifestyle with very little "training" routines. I just wish I had gotten off gluten decades ago, it would have saved me a ton of discomfort. Thanks for all you contribute and your courage to push back.

I stopped eating bread as well as all products containing gluten one year ago because I figured out that I was gluten intolerant. By cutting out gluten products, I ended up eating more vegetables, legumes, nuts, seeds, and fruit. My digestion and overall health is much better. Very interesting video. I never did the gluten challenge test so I do not know if I have celiac disease or an intolerance. (It was the pandemic and getting an appointment with my doctor was a challenge, so I just stopped eating gluten. After stopping, I felt so much better that I couldn't bear the idea of eating gluten to do the test.) Definitely, gluten causes me to feel very sick and not eating gluten helps me feel excellent.

@Dustin if he is having a glass of milk a day the sugar really isn’t going to be a big issue buddy especially accounting with all the nutrition it has. How much is “a lot of sugar.” There are also milk alternatives that offer double the protein with half the lactose offering very nutritional value in a drink. It’s a complete food and very nutritious especially with the healthier alternative mills nowadays.

The lack of nutritional value in white bread has been known at least since the 70s. That is why the "granola" and stone-ground whole wheat popularity took off. Here, he is taking it further discussing all the negatives of taking in even whole-grain breads, period. I did this for a year and 1/2. Problem is one gets tired of having nothing that keeps one satisfied throughout the day. For a brief winter, I am allowing myself 1 slice a day until early Spring which comes real fast when you live in the Desert.

I really miss bread, but when I cheat, I pay for it with an almost immediate return of symptoms. I also have gout attacks sometimes and wonder if that is related, or a separate issue.

Check out a book called Eat Right 4 Four Your Type. Just know your blood type and shop according to that section. It's about what your particular DNA can process. A food is either highly beneficial (tells you the great things it does, eat all you want of that group, neutral (doesn't hurt or do great things-have what you want but don't avoid the highly beneficial which is actively helping, but the neutral does no harm, and the avoid list. Those items are to be totally avoided. They do damage. The dr. lists all foods according to groups do you can take your list to the store. I have to get back on it. Never felt better and you can have all you want while your body goes to its optimum weight on its own. A woman in the office lost almost 300 lbs just eating whatever she wanted from her highly beneficial and neutral list. Engineer I dated did the same before I met him and he lost over 200 lbs just sticking to his blood type diet. It's about your dna. Ever notice how certain ethnicities never ever get certain dideases? It's genetic is why, but now western food has gone global and people are sicker than ever. You have to know your blood type and eat according to your DNA. Dr. Peter D'Adamo and now his son has picked up what his father learned.

but now I've become addicted to watching, listening and learning from your videos !!! 😎👍

Yes, a lotta water goes in the toilet (insulin level going down), yes, a LOTTA "noise" between my ears about all the "good stuff" I'm going to eat ... but no.
I WILL push through these. Disheartening that it may take MONTHS ... but what is life if your heart stops working ...
Cigarettes is a tuff one, but motivation is growing daily! Fortunately I can KEEP drinking coffee with this approach to getting healthier! 😁
Went from 100 kg to 95, but that was the easy part of peaing excess water every 15 minutes, but now I go for the "hard to get" fat around the belly in the next month or two. Not heavily overweight since I gotta body full of muscles as a birthday gift from my parents, but closing in on 60, IT'S TIME to do something about it!
