  • Hi everyone so today was the really big auction sale for our vintage signs! We put quite a few interesting pieces through and we’re really hoping that they do well. Watch as we see a half million dollars worth of tractors sell and cross our fingers and hope we do well too!

That was FUN! Some very interesting old tractors! My Grandpa was a farmer in Oklahoma and wore those Big Jim overalls. I’d ride with him on the tractor or just sit on it and pretend to drive it. We’d chase the chickens and climb the hay bales in the barn. Great memories! But alas, then we’d have to go home to the city! Thanks for the adventure, Alex! (I’m really glad you got a little extra rest.).

I love old cars, tractors, trucks, etc. Your kids wouldn't go with you, but if I was your kid, which is impossible cause I'm almost 60, I'd have gone in a heartbeat! My dad used to take me to old junk stores and old hardware stores. It was great! And he restored old pickups and cars and He and my Grandad owned a garage and worked there my whole childhood. It was a great amount of fun. Grease is still my favorite smell and the air jackhammer is my favorite sound!!

The school used to have a lot of bake sales but all the health regulations they have now you have to get permits to sell food. OMG even kids are supposed to get a permit to have a lemonade stand. I think that's a bit crazy. A couple of years ago two little girls had a sale to raise money to buy their dad a fathers day gift but the city gave them ticket for having it without a permit it was so sad the girls were crying. It made want to cry but I was so mad at the ones that gave them the ticket.

Brought a tear to my eye, Alex. My grandpa Harry traveled all over Sask. in the 1920s taking promo shots for the provincial government’s publication department. I have some of his original 8x10 prints of crews out threshing with the then marvels of modern farming but also horse drawn outfits. Harry was a rather proper Englishman but he wasn’t in Canada but a few months before he ditched his planned shopkeeping apprenticeship to join a threshing crew. His family back home were horrified! He never looked back. Studied Agriculture at Winnipeg and Saskatoon, had a 1/4 section near Wiwa Hills, instructor on the Better Farm Train, etc. “Farming is what Canada is all about.” You are so right, the technology was simple but oh so effective! Thanks, Alex. Enjoyed the trip down memory lane.

my great Aunt lived across the street from an old tractor mechanical mart. Guy had dozens of old tractors he had restored or wanted to restore. Never knew which one he would fire up and drive in the hometown parades. All gone now that he has passed away. Great memories though.

We had a green International Pu. I learned to drive in. Dad said we had to learn to drive a stick first, before we could drive the car. I loved that truck .

Glad you are feeling a bit better- the public arena of You Tube can be a pretty rough place sometimes. You are a kind, decent person, so don't let the trolls get you down! I am a bit of a hoarder, and I have found your unquenchable enthusiasm, hard work and persistence so inspiring. You are a great role model for people all around the world facing the need to be steadfast in facing our own personal challenges. Keep up the good work!

EXCELLENT VIDEO! Imagine sitting in front of the gas tank in that snow plane! If you sprung a leak you'd be like a comet doing 150mph across a frozen lake. Auctioneering by Committee. How many people were taking Bids at the same time; crazy funny.

Thanks Alex, this reminded me of my childhood when they used to hold what they called "Steam Rallies". People who owned tractors and engines run on steam gathered for a weekend, ran the machine, had tractor races etc.. I always loved them (I was always the tomboy)

That snow plane was so COOL! My grandparents lived on what was later named Red Rock Lakes National Wildlife Refuge, in Montana in the 1950's. They were very remote and of course it snowed like anything. Their mail was delivered by snow plane whenever they could get out there. I had never thought to look one up and didn't know what they looked like exactly, but they had described it to us. My grandpa was instrumental in the study of the Trumpeter Swan with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, which is why they lived out there.
