The red rose door push sign - that’s only the second one I have ever seen! The first is in my kitchen and is my favorite vintage find. I remember my husband thought the price was outrageous- maybe $125 or $175 ? So we left it there but I kept talking about it and when we went back in 6 months I went inside to see if they still had it and it was gone ! I kept talking about the one that got away but my hubby surprised me at Christmas with it !!!
Sorry that you lost out on some of the better items you wanted but, in retrospect I appreciated your narration, and especially taking me and my family along with you for the experience. Learned a lot and enjoyed the auction. Thanks, James
A few years ago I was living in Omaha. A cookie jar collector in Iowa passed away and his collection went to auction--no internet! I saw an advertisement of what was offered. I spotted the Brush Hillbilly Frog. As the town was close, I left in time to get there knowing what I wanted. I had $1000 for that jar. The bidding began and someone up front bid against me and we took it to $800. I won! I also picked up a small Brush Little Boy Blue for $150. I went home with two great Brush jars and $50! I truly like watching your adventures.

I loved this video. Everything about it but especially the 'father/son time. And the way Alex talked to his boys, asked them questions and gave them information. So much learning for the boys not to mention teaching the boys about having a budget and sticking to it. Love your family. Beautiful to watch.

the Heinz soup warmers were used in 'soda fountain' restaurants that they had in places like woolworths or some five-and-dime stores. The company sent them with special cans of soup to dump in - they were really popular
Farm auction? I don't think so...where's the farm sink? Can you imagine the person who used that well bucket saying, "One of these days, this here bucket will sell for $550.00!" Yeah no, me neither.😏
There is a small sandwich shop/drive-in near me that still uses the malt/milkshake machine like that one. They also still use the same hot dog bun warmer/weinie roaster combo machine, soda fountain and a milk fountain, that they have used since I can remember, from around the mid 60's when I was 6-7 yrs old.. The only milk fountain that I have ever seen. White and chocolate. They have remodeled at least 3-4 times since the 80's, due to flooding from nearby creek, and have not replaced any of the machines. The only thing that has changed is the prices on their menu sign, that they have repainted every few years.

Your videos are bringing back so many memories! I used to go to so many farm and household auctions with my dad when I was a kid. My favorite part was always the concession stands, and I would always check for boxes of toys, sports equipment, and board games, and then I'd be excited the whole auction for those boxes to come up for sale!
Aaaah, the ice cracking... that brought me back. I grew up in the South America's equivalent of Canada, and I used to love cracking the ice, though of course it was a risk falling through and getting your feet wet. It was no fun at all when that happened. I had somehow forgotten I used to do that. A big thank you to your boys for digging up those memories for me. :)

I had a Honda 90 that looked just like the one you came across at that farm auction I had that same type Honda 90 back in 1966 when I was 15 years old . even the same color I wonder how much it sold for . Sure brought back a lot of memories seeing it . I drove to Redwater many times on that Honda 90 back then . ( I grew up on a farm near Thorhild )
Holy Moly Mantiques always sell better at country auctions! Can't believe the price achieved specially on the well bucket! I assume you also pay a percentage to the auction house for their commision on all the items sold? That will then drive the consumers cost further for the item they bought. Makes purchasing for resale very hard. At least that's what the auction companies do in Ontraio. Thanks for the fun outing! Love the ambulance!
Ok I just have to chime in here too! This was a really fun and interesting video and I enjoyed the narration, just like another subscriber said. It was great when you told us how much something was worth. Then hearing how high the auctioneer was currently getting bids on the item.

Back in thr 60's my Dad owned a milk bar which had the highest icecream sales and milk shake sales in New Zealand ,He had two of those Hamilton Beach triple headers and when Busses stopped by on their way to the ski fields they would be running non stop for hours.
Wow there is some really neat stuff at this auction and the auction seemed to run very smooth. So you buy thing sometimes and redo them into other things....Cool

I'm guessing the six dislikes are from actual farmers...I've been to a thousand farm auctions..this was more a antique store auction. If there is NOT round bales of hay for sale and rusty farm equipment, then it isn't a real farm auction. Still...looked like a great time. Thanks for sharing.

When attending auctions back in the early 90's prices were really cheap as no one had an interest in old items.....that luggage could have been yours for $20. coffee grinder $50 door bar $10 etc. It was so much fun as there were some real great bargains. Watching this gave me auction fever again until I saw how much things were sold for--ha!!! Maybe that is just Canada but really high!!! Thanks for taking us along.!
Its like that in the UK now virtually anything over about 20 years old; from clothing to electrical equipment, is now classed as 'vintage' & is often overpriced for what you get.
The good thing about small town and country auctions in North West Central Wisconsin is that a good profit can still be made on many antiques and collectibles.
We have big auctions like that here in NC where they drive down the lines with trucks like that. We have quite a bit of farm implements, even a tractor that we've bought. It's called RDD Auctions. I love going.
Brought a box of fishing tackle at a auction. 45$ it was all old but new in boxes. 78 diffrent. Ones. Sold it all to a collector. For 1800$ never know what youll find. The real farm junk auctions are the best
The problem was it was an online auction as well. My experience is when an auctioneer rattles on as long as he did with each item he's jacking the price up unless its online as well. Also, I never ever seen a farm auction that clean, never, !!
Sometimes you have to ask yourself, how does this fit in any farm, I'll bet most of them tables were either consigned or auctioneer brought it in. I've been to probably at least 100 farm auctions in my life and very seldom see stuff that clean. Main thing is you spent time with your boys, priceless!!
I've been living on Vancouver Island for 38 years but I did grow up in Manning AB. This so wonderful seeing the AB landscape and the little towns. Great videos! The homeless man video was so touching and when I looked at the go fund me I was astounded at how much was raised. Is there a follow up video to that one?
I've never seen an auction where stuff is spread out like that and labeled individually with numbers. I thought maybe you were going to a tag sale at first. All the ones I've been to, and that's lots of them are all piled up boxes full of estate stuff. I love getting the last boxes of the day when the crowd is tired and going home. I get a whole box for a dollar or two.
A restaurant I worked at along Hwy 2 at the Petro Canada just north of Blackfalds had a milk shake maker just like that Hamilton Beach one, it had the 3 cup capacity as well. :) This was back in the mid to late 80s.

Good auction the auctions here in Ontario you have no numbers on Anythink and once you buy it it's yours you take it off the trailer and you pay for all your stuff at the end of the auction I guess everybody's different but other than that there was some good stuff there.

my friend had to auction off some of his farm stuff..he didnt have good security and people just walked off with things sometimes. he didnt make any where near the value of anything and has been depressed about that for a long time. Auctions (and yard sales) are great for buyers but so sad for the sellers. We went to auctions with my Mom in the 60s and wow were things cheap! we bid on a living room set of kinda smaller over stuffed furniture, but thought it would fit nicely in our redone attic room...we bid 25 cents, just being funny, and won the furniture! I dont remember how we got uit home but it did fit nicely in the attic.
The soup heater was used in a small place I worked in in the seventies we made big pots of chilli and used to warm that or a reg size can of soup wish I had one very convenient to use
It looks like some of the automobilia like the truck badge was good value there, that badge didn't look like it had ever been fitted to a vehicle so it was effectively new old stock. The Samsonite luggage was incredibly cheap compared to what it would have made in the UK...
Dear Alex😊I'm addicted to your channel lol..my hubby and I live on an over 100 year old farm here in Tennessee. His grandmother had old wrought iron beds, some are what I call tube type, then some have like ivy vines in the head board and are greenish in color. How much are those worth I'm curious lol..we found old saddles in the barn, ox yoke, old farm implements, and in the smoke house is the old green wood burning cook stove...it took 5 men to move that old stove lol..I love antiques..I love your channel!!! If the farm owner family was well-loved and fell on hard times, local people will bid more to support the family.

Amber Resells I bought a box lot 20 years ago for probably $5. Except for the stadium sit upon every thing is still in use in my house.
The soup heater-They had small single serving cans that they dumped in and voila a bowl of piping hot soup :)

my friend had to auction off some of his farm stuff..he didnt have good security and people just walked off with things sometimes. he didnt make any where near the value of anything and has been depressed about that for a long time. Auctions (and yard sales) are great for buyers but so sad for the sellers. We went to auctions with my Mom in the 60s and wow were things cheap! we bid on a living room set of kinda smaller over stuffed furniture, but thought it would fit nicely in our redone attic room...we bid 25 cents, just being funny, and won the furniture! I dont remember how we got uit home but it did fit nicely in the attic.
Those coffee grinders always sell for waaay to much!!

The soup heater was used in a small place I worked in in the seventies we made big pots of chilli and used to warm that or a reg size can of soup wish I had one very convenient to use
It looks like some of the automobilia like the truck badge was good value there, that badge didn't look like it had ever been fitted to a vehicle so it was effectively new old stock. The Samsonite luggage was incredibly cheap compared to what it would have made in the UK...

Dear Alex😊I'm addicted to your channel lol..my hubby and I live on an over 100 year old farm here in Tennessee. His grandmother had old wrought iron beds, some are what I call tube type, then some have like ivy vines in the head board and are greenish in color. How much are those worth I'm curious lol..we found old saddles in the barn, ox yoke, old farm implements, and in the smoke house is the old green wood burning cook stove...it took 5 men to move that old stove lol..I love antiques..I love your channel!!! Keep up the great work!!! Btw do you ship to the U.S.? Lol
