I was on lake St. Clair today getting my boat from Harsen's Island; If you have a boat, know your islands, channels, cuts and buy a good set of paper charts and learn how to navigate them (Power Squadron classes). A deserted island may be a good TOC....
Greatest fear here is some effeminate knucklehead or soccer mom getting spooked by my getup and tattling to the local cops, who will kick it up to federal if the "T" word is used.
If aliens invaded and Joe Dolio and Clay Martin showed up at my house naked covered in nothing but Cheeto dust had no kit whatsoever. I would give them my kit because we'd have a better chance. Even with no kit whatsoever he's a value add to my team. Practice > Kit This is ironic because most newbies don't practice because they don't want to look bad or they don't have the best stuff, but only if you practice are you valuable.

This is why I don't use the main gravel trail. Less likely to run into them on the difficult foot paths.
