Calcium is the cargo on a train. Vitamin D is the train, its a transport for the calcium. Vitamin K2 is the conductor. It takes calcium from places it shouldn’t be and puts it where it should be.

Over 8 months ago I had a CT scan for my heart and my results were terrible. Calcium over 250%, 99% stenosis etc.. I was morbidly obese at 280lbs. Have been struggling with autoimmune condition called Grave’s diseases. Had crazy palpitations that made me think I was having a heart attack. Had an angioplasty done and decided to take it seriously and look for ways to loose weight. I’ve been following Dr Bergs for the last 8 months and practicing most of what he’s been posting here. I’ve lost 80 lbs in 8 months and still loosing weight. Feel and look younger. I got to say thank you Dr Berg you have saved my life. It takes discipline to follow through but anyone who wants to live can do it. I’m now able to do OMAD multiple times a week along with keto and feel pretty awesome! Keep up saving lives! I know many doctors including cardiologist don’t have any idea of any of this and are clueless on how to really help their patients. They just pump you full of drugs and tell you not to eat red meats. They frown at Keto diets and even fasting yet I’ve lost 80lbs. I’ve lost my respect for most doctors.

My dad was diagnosed with calcified arteries and given statins and pain medications. After doing research I realised statins would kill him in the long run. So further research led me to studies where K2 was able to reduce up to 25% of arterial calcification in a short period time. So that's what we did. My dad started taking K2 supplements for many months and today he is perfectly fine and still working at his advanced age.

Regardless of what anyone says...he saved my life early this year when I was so ill, I didn't realise I was close to organ failure.
I came out of bed every few days, feeling fit ,as a fiddle, ate my normal well balanced meals always topped of with a jar of home stewed concentrated fruit spread, made only from friut cooked in its own juice and the water drops from washing the home grown plums, apples etc not a crystal of sugar in anything. I'd top of these delights ,with semi frozen Greek yoghurt and next day, I'd be back in bed for 2 or 3 days.
While up, on my good day, I'd watch a hallmark Xmas video or 2 and over a period of a month I noticed a particular video jumping out at me.
I took no notice, as I felt it didn't apply to me...until one day I was a tad clearer headed and thought...I think my Guardian Angel is trying to get me to watch this jolly video.
So I did,and immediately realized I had glucose problem from all the overdosing on those beautiful fruits I'd condensed down to such a degree, I reckon there were about 100 plums in each jar I consumed every day.
I immediately emptied my freezer and did a walk around my village, giving away my second freezer full of those goodies...plus I began keto experiments over the next 4 month, went to an endocrine specialist, over 500 miles away n early May and had every test under the sun.
She found to her horror my glucose tolerance test was off the charts...and was headed for pancreas and liver probs, followed by diabetes if we couldn't head it off.
6 months later, I've just come back from my checkup and she was shocked again.
This time, I barely made the low end of normal for blood sugars and just crept into normal, on the low side for insulin levels, an hour after eating.
She said whatever you are eating, keep on with keto, and doing your mowing, gardening, house repairs, chopping etc.It helps your muscle density and is good for your bones.
And I'm over 80 yrs old...and am really very fit, and starting back jogging in Nov, after collapsing and being knocked unconscious for over an hour, with bad concussion in Mid August from sunstroke.
His vids saved my life early this year...and I'm very thankful. Xx

I feel normal, had no problems, but see no reason not to continue eating keto for the rest of my life. The only thing is I need my bald spots to grow back!

Does this affect the ability of the patient to obtain insurance and the cost? Just Thoughts....

I heard Co-enzyme Q10 supplementation whilst on statins can help if you feel you must take it. But there is little proof in the literature that statins help anyone. I spent 9 years as a cardiology research coordinator. There is a high chance of developing diabetes, brain fog, severe muscle problems like rhabdomyolysis etc. Doctors tend not to mention this. And a recent study showed there was a higher incidence of developing breast cancer from being on statins for several years. Everyone should make their own decisions but the research is out there to discover. Dr Berg's nutrition advice is good for many medical conditions.

I was prescribed a statin several years ago because I had high triglycerides. After 2 days, my muscles started spasming, I couldn't sleep, and was constantly nervous. I quit it after 2 days. It took over a year for my spasming to stop. Once there was no real evidence that statins prevent heart attacks or strokes, I decided I'd rather die of natural causes rather than have my muscles disintegrate and have massive kidney failure.

Thank you Dr. Berg. This info is so helpful. I’m 67 and my father’s family has a history of heart disease. I just quit my 10mg of rosuvastatin after taking for 6 months. My CAC score was 1600 and that’s why I caved and started taking it. After 4 weeks of taking it, My total cholesterol went from 228 to 159! I eat clean most of the time, organic, grass fed, very little sugar and processed foods. At that appointment I asked if I can go off of the statin, the cardiologist answered me sarcastically, of course you can, but if get any pain in your heart, you need to go to emergency immediately. This scared me, thus I didn’t stop the statin until recently. I met with my PCP last month and told her what I was doing and can I get an order to do blood work. She resisted some but gave the order, said to wait 3 months after stopping the statin to do the blood work. Also asked about getting another CAC test, she said, oh no you don’t need it, it will stay the same. But then added, try to loose more weight and that may help. I’m saying to myself all this time, this is BS and have been continuously following you and a few other TH-cam doctors. Bruce Prigge that’s great to hear, well done and may you live a long and happy life.
My husband not yet 60 has had two aortic valves replaced for a congenital bicuspid aortic valve problem. The first was a biological valve in July 2010, he became winded by 2012 and coughing (unproductive).
His second valve (same reason) was done end of August 2020, only 2 yrs end of August he chose mechanical & they have him on warfarin, his surgery was done in England he’s already feeling out of breathe using the stairs.
I’m concerned warfarin is causing a problem, he believes he needs it, I can’t find any information which doesn’t go with the pharmacological narrative.
May I please ask if your valve is mechanical or biological? If you prefer not to answer that’s okay, thank you for reading my comment. Mia.

@@msheart2 Hello Mia, mine is biological, it’s made from a cows pericardium. When I was doing research around the time I had the valve changed I read an article that stated anticoagulants advance calcification, that’s why I refuse to take them. I spoke to the medical people at the hospital were I had the valve changed, they said they had never heard of such a thing. Not surprising, they only know what the drug companies tell them. My aerobic capacity is below normal and has been since before the valve was changed but I don’t run any more so it doesn’t create much of a problem. I go to ‘Silver Sneakers’ a couple times a week and walk a mile a few times a week, the exercise part is very important, for me anyway. I live in Minnesota, USA, where the winters are very harsh. I have discovered that NOT doing aerobic exercise over the winter takes a very noticeable toll on my aerobic capacity. When I got back out walking this spring I could NOT walk a mile without a break. I stuck with it and within a month I was breezing through a mile without stopping. Body weight is also very important; any extra body weight really noticeably shows up as a low aerobic capacity. (Getting winded easily). Going low carb and now full on carnivore has really helped with the body weight. My surgeon, a lady with an Irish name, said that anticoagulants are very important with metal valves, not so much with biological valves.

Hi Dr. Berg.. I'm so glad i came across this information. I have a terrible combination of health issues that create a seemingly impossible situation for me to lose any weight to improve my heart or even health overall. Im 50 now and, aside from having lifelong chronic depression, anxiety and ptsd my constant stress/grief manifested itself about 3 years ago when i was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, degenerative disc disease/osteoarthritis in my whole spine, neck, shoulders, hips, elbows etc., atrial fibrillation (had an ablation after suffering a year which helped hugely), esophogitis from 25+ years of acid reflux disease then GERD which created a stricture and herniation of part of my stomach into my esophagus (I had two endocscopies: one which broke that up, and an exploratory for signs of cancer. Thankfully none.) Recently I had stomache pain and was told I have a fatty liver, and now, (because i have lung concerns with nodes) I had a chest scan which showed signs of calcification starting in my arteries.
I made huge changes to my diet at the start.. no carbs/pasta/potatoes, only lean meat/fruit/veges, no dairy, more eggs etc, but I also have an eating disorder (which likes to beat me up along with my depression at the unfairness of it all) so I have still gained around 50lbs in the last 2 years alone. Not good. So now I am at a scary 250lbs. All I can really do, due to the amount of whole body pain and heart strain at even the slightest exertion, is try to go for slow walks every day. I started taking alot of vitamins (theraputic levels) years ago at the onset.. E for my heart, D3, B12 (doc recommended from the start), C, Calcium/Mag/Zinc. After learning of this recent calcification in my arteries I have been trying to find the right info for vitamins to change/add /suppliment my regimin. It all feels so hopeless and the whole thing about Vitamin D has been really confusing to me, but you have explained things in terms I think i can understand and trust. It has been really helpful so thank you.

Thank you for sharing, as all people's experiences are helpful to learn about.
The couple things I see as a potential cause of your continued health/body weight issues is probably eating the fruits (too much fructose in your diet), and also eating lean meats.
You need the animal fats! Eating the natural fats that occur with the meat is the way to go. ☺️
Bu sure to watch Dr Berg's videos on the ketogenic diet.
Those videos will introduce you to it and important tips also. Take notes and read people's great positive comments about how they lost weight and greatly improved their health!

You are in a desperate place. I would suggest emphasizing intermittent fasting. Also in your eating window eat a meal lasting no more than one hour with an hour and a half in between. If you could limit yourself to 3 meals a day and no snacking things might start to turn around. For two of the three meals eat no carbs only fats, protein, and non starchy vegetables. Then for one meal, lasting only an hour, eat as you wish. Try to limit the meat/animal foods as they raise insulin. The other suggestion I have would be to go completely starch based vegan with no oil and no animal at all along with at least 12 hours of not eating at night. Dr. Jason Fung is another resource for the first method and Dr. John McDougall is the resource for the second. If you could just not eat at all for a few days at a time it would kick start your efforts! I love and recommend Dr. Berg but his way of eating might be too difficult for you until you get some of your emotional and physical problems under control. Then you can switch to Dr. Berg entirely.

I had a CAC test and my score was zero. My doctor was surprised because I have high blood pressure. I'm over 60 but I work out heavily. I'm a Kung Fu instructor. I think the problem is leaky gut, because I am also gluten sensitive, among other reasons. I watched this video to try to understand why my CAC is so low. I do have a belly, but not as bad as most people my age, but I do think I have fatty liver. I do eat Kimchi, sauerkraut, live cheeses (raw preferred) and take a probiotic, although I don't eat a lot of each because of the salt. I love liver (so does my dog), but my wife doesn't so I have it only occasionally, and only free range organic (mostly chicken liver). I also eat yogurt, kefir and 2 eggs a day. I try to get probiotics in my diet and avoid antibiotics. I have been doing all this for many years. It looks like I don't need a K2 supplement, but I have tested deficient in vitamin D do take vitamin D supplement. I want off my blood pressure meds and hope addressing the fatty liver and leaky gut issues will do it.

Recent research has pointed towards cocoa being just as good if not better for blood pressure than meds. Apparently cocoa reduces vascular hardness. Apparently, it also won't stop blood pressure below what's good, but it will reduce it if it's higher. The placebo was brown sugar in the control. It was taken in capsules. Don't use alkalized kind, it removes some of the benefit. Look up the research, see how you feel about it. Also, milk thistle for fatty liver, right? I'm doing the cocoa thing myself, like you, very fit, with a little mild Dad belly. Definitely have considered it's fatty liver... so I'm getting back on the milk thistle, should do Vit D, yeah, doing the liver thing, and just started on the cocoa using Ghirardelli baker's cocoa - not Dutch. Making a cocoa tea LOL how crazy is that. It's just hot cocoa without sugar or anything, but hey... it's nice!

First, I am not a doctor. That does not mean that I know nothing. That said there are several things I have learned that I would like to share. First, there are two versions of Vitamin K2, one is called MK4 which you can get in various foods as well as what is called mega does K2. Younger bodies generally can metabolize the MK4 in MK7 which is the bio available and active form your body needs to remove the calcium from your plague. As you age, or with certain generic or other medical conditions your body cannot metabolize the MK4 version as well. Hence, you should supplement with the MK7 version, generally at a dose of 20mcg or less.
Second, removing the calcium in the plague of the artery walls probably causes inflammation of the endothelia cells that are the lining to the arteries. This can be a real issue in terms of additional clotting as well as ulceration of the hardened arteries. The question I have yet to discover the answer to is how does the body best get rid of the remaining lipid components (cholesterol, triglyceride, and protein) that make up the rest of the remaining plague?

Your Presentation, the Subject Matter, your Teaching Methods, all the cutting edge Research; So much, so efficient, your videos are educating and saving people. You and your gifts keep on giving. It's true. Sharing is caring. I'm sharing how to pronounce Natto: Just link the words "not" and "toe" together. Natto is an aquired taste. Hot mustard or wasabi may increase it's palatability for some but try seasoning with cumin, chili powder, cilantro, salsa, lime, avocado and cheese or sour cream over greens. You may find natto heaven, but natto can become "addictive". Cooked soybeans innoculated with natto cause fermentation similar to the yogurt making process and also can be made at home. The resulting Natto kinase is a Serine protease of the subtilisin family, thus the Bacillus subtilis var natto: the potent, beneficial fibrinolytic enzymes that are known to survive digestion and remain viable when eaten.

A little over a year later following that change, I had a 2nd CAC test and my score was down to 188. Hopefully that's a good sign and not just statistical variance between tests/machines. Now, for the past 6 months I've been following a carnivore based diet (I still eat walnuts, pecans, almonds, avocados, pickles, olives, and onions), and I've lost more weight. I'm dying to know if my CAC score is better or worse because I think about it every freaking day. But I'm not sure I should keep getting a CAC test because of the radiation - how often is too often? I just want the calcium out of my arteries.

A cardiologist did a heart cath on me about 4 years ago and was told that I had 85% plugging in two of heart arteries and 65% plugging in the third and they were plugged almost evenly all the way down to the capillaries like he normally sees in diabetics. He installed some stents but they were questionably effective. I started taking 100mcg of Vitamin K2 MK7 daily and after a couple of weeks I noticed less angina pains with activity. I was not taking D3 at the time but I was taking a mulitvitamin. After many months I increased vitamin K2 intake to 4 100mcg supplements daily along with vitamin D3. I am feeling less and less angina with activity. So, I'm a believer in vitamin K2. My gall bladder was removed just after I got the stents do K2 may not be as effective as it would have been.

I would say your improvement is not due to K2, it doesn't work this fast it takes years not months and there is no data to show it removes existing calcification . Do you know you had soft or hard blockage ? Because to me it sounds you had soft plaque and that can be reversed . I highly recommend magnesium , it has the fastest effect on calcium in your blood . This is interesting. When I stopped eating sugar, I noticed that I stopped having plaque building up on my teeth. But, when I messed up and ate some sugar, just one quarter of a snickers bar, I noticed that in just fifteen minutes I started to have plaque growing on my teeth. It was the sugar that was causing and feeding the plaque. So I asked two doctors if this was the same plaque that was in the blood. One doctor said that it was the same plaque and the other said that the plaque was different. I think that the sugar is causing the plaque to grow in our blood causing this calcification. I tried this experiment a number of times and I am totally convinced that the plaque is caused by the sugar.

The number one contaminant in water is calcium carbonate or limestone. It's mainly found in water due to the acid rain, dissolving the rocks, and it's also added at municipal water treatment plants to raise the pH due to the acidity of surface water. This dissolved rock can be absorbed into the body, through the stomach lining, but since it is comprised mainly of inorganic minerals, say 98% and less than 2% mineral ions, the majority may be absorbed but not utilized at the cellular level, the body now has to deal with this unusable form of calcium absorbed and circulating through the bloodstream. Overwhelmed by this the body tries to eliminate it via the kidneys where it accumulates and binds with oxalic acid to form kidney stones, and/or deposits in your joints to contribute to arthritis, and/or binds with cholesterol to create the atherosclerotic plaque that lines the arteries. Or you could eliminate the possibility that these conditions could arise from tap or spring water consumption by drinking pure H2O, either by making or buying pure distilled water. H2O plus calcium carbonate is contaminated water. Pure water is just H2O... Opt for the later. To your health!

I'm a 58 year old male. My CAC in the LAD artery was 34. The other arteries were 0. The scan also picked up 3 pulmonary nodules ( 5mm calcified granuloma; 5mm non calcified ; 3mm sub pleural) that appear benign. I repented the scan six months later with no change. I was very concerned about this originally but kind of forgot about it until I just watched this video bring it back to my thoughts. Its my understanding that up to 50% of people CT scanned have a pulmonary lung nodule but that may be incorrect. Can you do a educational video on these pulmonary nodules. Being bed bound she was forced to go cold turkey giving up her pack a day cigarette habit...terrible to watch in the 1st few months...but 18 months later with regular visits to the foot clinic for debriding the ulcer and I think the no smoking allowed the arteries to flex a bit and the ulcer healed...this is after a 2nd opinion Vascular surgeon here in London said it was likely the wound would not heal up!
