    I buff before applying Activator too. The surface is softer and easier/faster to shape. It takes me so long to do my dip manicure that I’ll take any shortcut! 😄 It ends up being a little gentler to the skin around the nails overall too.

      If I try this chunks will come off lol I just use the glue and the dip.. wait till I feel they are dry and buff. No activator . It’s the lazy way lol or gel topcoat and dip. Cure in between ..

    Thank you for this video! Do you know what would cause horizontal cracking in my natural nail? I’ve had it happen twice when doing my own dip nails.

    • @naildipstudio
      @naildipstudio  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Several things can cause cracking or horizontal ridges; (1) aging, (2) poor/cheap products, (3) lack of moisture, or (4) vitamin deficiency - lack of Vitamin B or the need of Biotin.

  • @morenacereja

    I got mine done today and an hour later, I get home and notice they look like they shattered. Tiny tiny looking cracks. I like the color acrylic powder more then anything. Yours came out so pretty !

    • @naildipstudio
      @naildipstudio  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A lot of nail salons are cutting their dip powder/acrylic powder. Those “tiny tiny cracks” could have come from 2 sources: (1) someone could’ve CUT the top coat/gel with some type of additive OR (2) the powder has the addictive that counteracts with the top coat.

    Thank you for the video! My nails always lift at the corner of my tips. I feel like I would end up filing off the dip on my free edge when I do my shaping. Should I do a few dips then shape my tips and do the remaining dips on the free edge? Thanks for all the help!

    • @naildipstudio
      @naildipstudio  ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you pre-shaping your nails during the dry manicure process? Pre-shaping the natural nail minimizes your ability to over-file on the backend. Thus leaving more product/dip layers on the nail and minimizing lifting from the free edge.

    Some dip kits have 3 liquids/bottles. Do you recommend going across the nail's free edge with each liquid (when used)?

    • @naildipstudio
      @naildipstudio  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes! You should make it a practice to sweep the free edge with each liquid step.. This will definitely minimize lifting and prolong your overlay application. Thank you so much for your comment 🥰

    Do I do the same with nails tips add the dehydrater an primer before putting it on?

    • @naildipstudio
      @naildipstudio  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can apply the dehydrator on your natural nail before you apply the Nail TIP. Once you’ve applied the nail tip, apply the PRIMER to the natural nails - Avoid the nail tips. Make sure you add some texture to the nail tips by using your nail file or buffer. Then start your dip overlay.

    Hi, any tips to prevent cuticle lifting and preventing cracking? Thx

    • @naildipstudio
      @naildipstudio  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, start with a dry manicure. Push your cuticle back (trim them if necessary).. To prevent cracking you should add additional layers to your application (meaning: if you normally use 3 layers of dip powder, try adding 1 or 2 more layers) this will definitely help. If the issue continues, try switching your dip powder brand!! Hope this helps!!
