Super informative tutorial!!!😊 I've been doing my own nails since 2022 & still learning I learned alot just from this video alone! I just love that I'm saving money & just the flexibility to have beautiful nails when I want However I'm experiencing alot of shattering & cracking in my dip manicures So thanks again for this detailed video ❤❤
I got into dip powder this year and I love it. I had an issue with cracking and didn’t want to waste the product because I love the colors. At first I thought I had a bad product but I watched this video and I noticed a huge difference. I bought a base powder and bought new top, base and activator bottles from the supplier. I also invested in the filers/buffers that you recommended. I did 6 layers (2 clear and 4 color) and OMG what a difference. My mani is over 2 weeks old now and I just started seeing minor cracks. I still need to practice on getting thin even layers. Thank you, your technique saved me so much money.
Thank you for this video! I have lots of shattering & cracking. You made me realize in my haste to do efficient manis, I’m pulling nails out much too quickly & not getting the thickness of powder i need to sustain my manis. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise-you don’t know how much you’ve helped me☺️
This worked so well for me!!! I was doing 3 layers and dipping my nails too quickly and I was getting so much shattering! I tried 4 layers and leaving them in for longer and it helped so much! I’m going to try 5 layers next 🥰
Video is great. For added speed I use a nail brush when cleaning dust. It gets it out around the cuticle. You did a great job explaining ing and your nails are so pretty
I’m new to this so please excuse my ridiculous question 🥴 - for dip, you don’t do a “fill” when you have grow out, do you? You just remove the entire thing and start completely over?
Yes, I typically remove the previous dip manicure and start fresh. However, you can do a “fill” on a previous dip manicure - but I would only do One “fill” before removed everything and start fresh..
OMG - this gives the best explanation of why my nails are cracked, shattered, etc. it sounds like my top coat may be the issue (compromised). Is there a certain brand you like best? Thanks!
Thank you so much! If I make a mistake in between Dip Layers, I will file down the mistake before I proceed to the next layer. Other than that, I would finish my dip layers, apply the bond, and then file. Thank you so much for the support 🥰
Coming back to this video because WOW!!! This worked so well for me, I use glamrdip and I was being slap dash with my nails and only doing 3 layers and leaving them in the dip for a short time and my nails were cracking really quickly and easily :(( Then I tried this and OMG my nails have never looked this good AND they last wayyy longer. Thank you!!! :) I’ve done 5 layers which looks amazing and lasts so well - obsessed!!!
I just did my first dip powder nails and lasted about 5 days before I noticed some chipping and cracking on my sidewalls. I'll be trying this out as now I have 3.5 nails removed after a week. The others are holding on strong.
How long had it been since you did your nails and started seeing cracks? It's rare that I go more than 3 days without having chips and lifting. Last time I did the whole cuticle, prep, dehydration and 4 or 5 coats and still there is lifting. I'm less than 2 months into this so I chalk it up to learning curve.
Cracking usually happens when your (1) dip layers are too thin or (2) when your activities have changed (you’re putting more pressure on your hand/fingers). A person can go 12 days with dip nails and experience NO cracking or shattering, but on the 13th day they can go rock climbing and experience cracking & shattering. If you still experience lifting after your dry manicure, one of the products you used during prep contained Oil and the residual oil created a slippery surface preventing the primer from dehydrating the natural nail. You created the perfect lifting scenario - make sure you wash your hands with soap and water after your dry manicure. Be sure to dry your hands with a towel, and then wipe your nails down with alcohol. Then start your dip manicure process. 🥰
@jadeiteb - I applied the activator (step 3) before I started the buffing and filing process. I allow the activator to sit on my nails for a few minutes to start the curing process before I start filing.
Hello - great question! Based on MY daily activities, I prefer using the NDS Gel Top Coat Polish on top of my dip powder layers for added strength (the gel polish makes my dip manicure stronger). However, there is nothing wrong with using the traditional NDS Liquid Top Coat to finish your dip powder manicure. It really comes down to preference 🥰
Thanks…I am switching to dip due to allergy to acrylic and now fell..😢. I went to “reputable salons”… but ….so I will try dip. Your videos are awesome ☺️. Now I hear of dip flu…pray for me 😂🤣.
@corteltube - thank you for your comment. There is a myth about traditional acrylic vs. dip powder. Both are acrylics, one is just milled finer than the other. You may have an allergy to monomer, so if you’re going to try dip powder - try the traditional liquid/powder on one hand and then try the powder/gel on the other hand. This will give you “true” results on which application works best for you.
I don't understand how I've been getting my nails done for so long without then shipping and no professional has ever used clear dipping powder. But now that I'm doing my own nails and researching on TH-cam all of these people are using clear powder. I'm confused
Typically the traditional acrylic powder and monomer will give you a stronger result. However, dip powder is a finer milled product bonded with resin and without multiple layers you will get chipping. Also, the clear powder creates a seal for the pigment.

Definitely needed to see this! Thank you! This happens to me all the time.
Thank you 🥰
Thanks for the video. I'm gonna try this way and hope it doesn't lift before 10 days.

Yes, my brand “Nail Dip Studio”.. 🥰
Love love how you do your nails and your tutorials. Question... Have you ever tried filing before the bond.

Never ever had this issues with get dipping. Because get polish is more flexible .
Just gave the traditional dip powder method to see the difference.

@@naildipstudio thank you for providing solutions! You are great. I am new to this and I appreciate the instruction
Did you apply activator (step 3) again after buffing?
@jadeiteb - I applied the activator (step 3) before I started the buffing and filing process. I allow the activator to sit on my nails for a few minutes to start the curing process before I start filing.
No music!!!!!!!! 🪷🪷🪷 Thank you!
For trusting your viewer to tune into YOU and YOUR ADVICE!!! Glad for the explanations.
Pretty Orange Color, is this from your line?
Thanks for the compliment 🥰! I was testing out this shade and it wasn’t the right “orange” for me.
Hi
Why don’t you put dipping liquid coat but you put gel top coat instead?
