    I used to prefer S-Cinetone over Slog3 but then I discovered the Phantom Luts and I’ve never gone back to S-Cinetone. The colors on Slog3 w/phantom luts turn out way better and its just a one-click solution. Not to mention you get several lut variations. It looks VERY similar to Arri Alexa colors.
    I always found myself tweaking S-Cinetone in post which defeats the purpose of being a straight out of camera profile. Now I only use S-Cinetone for home vids or quick social media posts. Its still a great profile.

      Yeah, i used s-cinetone all the time too. Log was always a challenge for me until maybe 6 months ago and now i’ve never looks back. Like you said, s-cinetone is great for quick turnaround 👌🏻

    • @DannyBligh

      S-cinetone should be fine for most situations. But I personally use slog3 for literally everything now. I forget that I don’t have to use log sometimes 🤷🏻‍♂️😂

  • @billem16
    @billem16 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    my friend, you mentioned that you use S-Cinetone for all of your wedding work, but then at the end you said that using SLOG3 with Scinetone colors is what you use for 90-95% of all your work. So which one do you use for weddings? Have you moved on to Slog3? Or still Scinetone? thanks

    • @DannyBligh
      @DannyBligh  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So for weddings we were using just straight-up S-Cinetone all of the time. But weddings were only a small portion of my work when this was filmed last year. All of my TH-cam content and client work which is the 90-95% is filmed with s-log 3 gamma, scintone colour.
      Since filming this we have now made the move to film in just s-log3 with s-cinetone for everything including the weddings. Hope that helps?

      @@DannyBlighI just switched on my a7Siii from straight S-Cinetone to S-Log 3 because of some clients who do their own edits and require it! I found it tough to expose and grade. HOWEVER I recently discovered (whois MattJohnson youtuber) who turned me on to S-Log 3 PP8 but using the S-Cinetone Gamma!! WOW what a great look as you suggest and very easy to apply a Sony Lut or Alexa LUT. THANKS FOR THE GREAT VIDEO and confirming my decision. For me it’s the best of both world’s and a nice compromise with easy work flow and the client still is happy cause it is basically still S-Log 3!!

    • @DannyBligh
      @DannyBligh  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not yet got my hands on the a7iv, but if it’s anything like my a7siii, it’s great! I don’t use it often but it’s a really nice quality in comparison to the a7iii. And having 10bit colour is very versatile. Sorry I can’t give you an exact answer!

    thank you very much .. Shall I set the Zebra level 100+ in S-cinelog3 pp ? What do you recommend?
    And the Exposure Comp. Shall I leave it as a +0.0

    • @DannyBligh
      @DannyBligh  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Anytime you use a gamma that is S-log3 zebras should be around 91+ for highlight blowout.
      As for exposure comp, there’s no right or wrong. I was filming yesterday and some scenes were above +2, others +0.3

    Does A7SIII have Venice colours like the FX3?

    • @DannyBligh
      @DannyBligh  ปีที่แล้ว

      Long story short, yes. However, to be a little more accurate. Both the Sony A7Siii and FX3 have S-Cinetone as a colour profile when in video mode. S-Cinetone is a colour profile that was firstly made available on the Venice. It may not be 100% the same but it's based on it

  • @TheTopseat

    Any suggestions for a good B&W profile setting?

    • @DannyBligh
      @DannyBligh  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not really, anytime i’ve shot for b&w i’ve always filmed it in a log profile, corrected it for rec709 and them graded it to be black and white. On the few times i’ve done this, i’ve used a s-log3 gamma with sgamut3.cine colour. Colour isn’t a major thing but you still need the b&w grade to reflect a good balance and separation between colours. Sorry I can’t help any more!
