Thanks, man, extremely useful!!! I have a fx3 (which, as we all know, has the same technical basis as the A7S Iii) and I want to also use the fx3 for photography. But, as the fx3 is so much geared towards video (and you mentioned that the sensor is of course not the best for photography anywqys), hardly any fx3 setup video even goes through the steps as you did. So, thanks a million for filling that gap for me... I will surely also check your other videos...abo earned... 😊

So what camera has a better EVF than Sony A7RV?

In the A7R VI, I would want to see 15 ips and pre-capture, and slightly improved AI autofocus on fast moving subjects The rest can stay exactly the same and to me it would still be far enough from the A1 to keep the A1 relevant, but have some good features for photos of fast moving subjects which I would think is one of the A7R V weak points when it comes to photo? (I haven't used a A7R V, but that's what I understood from the reviews I've seen) edit : also I would add that I'd rather the A7R lines goes all-in on photography than try to get video features, this is how I think it makes the most sense. -> If you try to bump the video specs then you get into A1 hybrid territory but then it's still subpar A1, while if it goes all-in on photo it could potentially be as good as the A1 in that department without being hybrid so people who need hybrids would still buy the A1. And people who care primarily for photo (which I think is why people buy the A7R line to begin with) would be very satisfied with top tier photo capabilities. At the moment the A7R 5 really lacks in ips and handling photos of fast moving subjects from what I understand.

I record extreme low-light and high-contrast scenes - northern lights. The challenge here is that a lot of it happens at ISO's higher than 12800 to keep a fairly decent frame rate at 25p. I got a 480GB CFexpress Type A card today and I did so mainly to be able to capture in S-I to see if I can squeeze simply better less noisy footage out of the A7IV. So far I've been using HS as a codec and it's been quite OK, but some of the footage can be extremely noisy still, and I thought that long GOP might not help that. We'll find out!

Wow the Sony colours still suck in comparison. I'm not a fanboy, I do own a Sony next to other brands, but I was shocked the difference is still so apparent when watching the IBIS tests.

Tamron is very clear on their website that it is a water resistant usb-c port just the ones used in cellphones that are rated with high water resistance. you are going to have seals fail elsewhere on the lens long before the seals on the usb-c will fail. ... and since i'm here now, the Tamron 28-75 G2 is a great lens. performance to price ratio makes it a no brainer if you don't already have more pricey glass in the range. even if you do, still worth a consider for the size. smaller, less assuming, less "professional" lens can help keep subjects loose and at ease for street and event photography. less imposing for your subjects. and less weight in the hands/on the back.

I have tested both (for wedding photography) and decided for the 1.8 because of size, weight and focus breathing.

Agree 100% (I use for my weddings and christenings this 1.8-Sony-kit of lenses: FE20 f1.8G, FE35 f1.8 and FE85 f1.8 - it does everything so well and lightweight!)

Thanks for explaining. Love it. I found out that my large lossless file from my A7cr are bigger than my 33mp files from my A7iv. Lightroom is also slower with the lossless L files from my A7cr.

I'm actually buying a second hand Avata (original) I don't care about the specs as much the price. I can get an older one barely used for about $400 with goggles and controller. This will be my first drone and I want something I can bump around and learn. If I crash and kill it, I still have some decent goggles and controller.

I was looking at getting the gamut LUTs, in particular one of them that I like a lot. Now after watching some videos on the lemming LUTs my understanding was that it gives you a good starting point. For me it will be using HLG3. So am I right to think that the lemming is then to have colours corrected, good skin tones, etc and then I can apply the gamut LUTs to get the tones I want?

Im on Davinci free version (no 4.2.2). Would s-log work? Currently using Handbreak to re-code it so it would work. (Filming without PuictureProfile atm) (Perhaps time to get full licens).

I just retired so I thought I would give photography a try. I just bought the Sony A7RV, Sony FE 14mm F/1.8 GM, Sony 35mm GM f/1.4, Sony 85mm GM 2 f/1.4 and the Sony FE 200-600mm G f/5.6-6.3 Whenever I start a new hobby I hate upgrading later

I think the most important take away is this applies to a use case. talking about you can print 2x bigger.... is irrelevant to me, that is, to me. maybe not to you... I shoot 100mp and I shoot commercial work. I shoot wider as I do not know how the chosen usage needs to crop. Commercial photographers are not always framing to the client usage. This whole video is about framing in camera to how it will be used. An example, when I shoot commercial beauty shots (similar to headshot) I shoot landscape as we dont know what the client will do, maybe they put text or production images in the void space to the sides? maybe they want to crop out the eyes to show eyeshadow. You see, not every photographer has the same workflow. Not everyone frames the shot for final image

WARNING:Everyone should note that the frame rate used is always the transmitted fps to your goggles so I would advise that if you need better latency or just smoother flight, well use 100fps (you can always drop frames after to make the vid a 50fps vid without really sacrificing the picture quality except for low light shot) also, great vid

That "viewing distance" argument is EXACTLY what people were saying when 4K television first came out. "You don't need 4K... it won't even matter for your normal viewing distance." But they aren't saying that now.

Top tips and thanks for sharing. I`ve been flying GPS drones for a couple years and FPV is the next progression for me. Just currently logging up sim time, on Lift Off. Avata 2 seems like the perfect drone to bridge the gap between GPS & FPV drones. Hardest part I find is hovering an FPV drone in Acro. Having the ability to switch from Acro to stabilised at the press of a button and RTH during signal loss is a god send!

Gyroflow makes the video look so much better and helps with low light situations. EIS always off for me

I have this lens and i don't know what i am doing wrong, mine doesn't produce tack sharp images. I have no problem with my other lenses
