Read more about the deck (including a updated build from Jim Davis that might solve some of our issues) here: www.mtggoldfish.com/articles/much-abrew-goblin-storm-modern
why no frogtosser banneret or boggart shenanigens? I ran this deck back in 2007 and ran them to fix some of the issues i see people running into. commune with the gods seems the perfect way to fix the lack of being able to find Fecundity.
Knucklebone Witch is 1/1 goblin for B which is getting a +1/+1 for each goblin put in the graveyard is a fine card for the deck. tT can be used as a Atog kind of creature and it is counters not until end of turn. Another card which I think have great use in the deck is Festering Goblin. when it dies target creature gets -1/-1 until end of turn so basically we can remove potential blockers on the board and clear the way for other attackers. It is a card which we have no problem sacking. We can get a R mana, give -1/-1 to a creature, get a +1/+1 counter, deal one damage with Boggart shenanigans and we draw a card for one creature dying. Some very powerful synergy there.
Might like Benefaction of Rhonas a bit better (it gives you a enchantment and/or a creature for one more mana). At least I think it is worth trying. It might be to random if you a hitting a an enchantment and a creature for it to work. However if you ad some Boggart Shenanigans the usefulness will increase.
I think this deck definitely has potential, but this version doesn't seem right. The version Jim Davis streamed last week seemed way better and more consistent. Plus a less painful mana base and no black. I feel the black stresses the mana base for little benefit. 1 black card to tutor a prospector or a mogg war marshal? You can't even cast it off of the prospector mana so it's tricky. I'd definitely recommend the Jim Davis list as a better starting point rather than this deck.
Jim Davis built this deck right. You cut the harbinger and the lootings and some of the jank and play 4 traverse, 4 bauble and 4 wraith. It's a hell of a lot more consistent and is more linear. This version is way to greedy I think
If you bitch about people who care about pronunciations in random comment chains on a video, it's clear your life is meaningless etc etc. Constantly mispronouncing things get on some people's nerves. Deal with it.
Jim Davis had a really consistent deck. Swap desperate ritual with infernal plunge, swap out harbinger for commune with the gods, drop the zulaport cutthroat, so it's all green red. I like the idea of adding shared animosity.
@MTGGoldFish Do you think the Hollow One deck needs a swing from the ban hammer? I know that game was, as you call it, the "nuts" for your opponent, but being able to slap down 12 damage, 8 of which is haste, on turn 1 seems like something you probably shouldn't be able to do in Modern imo
Could Dark Prophecy be Fecundity 5-8? Losing a life is bad and so is the mana situation, but having another copy of the combo enbabler would be really useful.
Perhaps one of these days you could do a video on making a proper mana base? It seems like you see a lot of decks that are almost good, except they have terrible mana.
Jim Davis played Goblin Storm on one his streams and had a similar experience. The games didn’t go well at all. He made a few changes and added Traverse the Ulvenwald and Commune with the Gods, both of which made the deck run quite a bit smoother.
Why no krenko in this build? Being able to essentially double your mana making ability/Card draw engine, seems perfect for this deck. Then i would run 1 big red or colorless creature that can attack and win the turn it comes down
Why not try cutting Zulaport Cutthroat, a Desperate Ritual, and two Warchiefs for a set of Commune with the Gods? It digs for everything pretty efficiently, and the deck definitely has the creature+fecundity density to support it. Even synergizes/curves decently with looting if you mill one.
So. With Zulaport/similar effects, you could get away with playing Dark Prophecy, and since you have Manamorphose that wouldn't be too imposible to play along with Fecundity to draw cards. That might be something fun to try. Additionally, how would Gate to the Afterlife work? It's looting, but it may also be beneficial to later turn into God-Pharo's Gift.
Hmm, Dark Prophecy is interesting. It seems like it would be good, but triple-black is rough (would probably have to rework the mana). As for Gate, I'm not sure. I guess GPG would give us another plan for closing out the game. Seems weird, but maybe?
See, I had a somewhat different idea with this kind of idea with the prospector. I was thinking something more along the lines of using the prospector, goblin guide, Goblin Arsonist, Mogg War Marshal, and maybe Mudbutton Torchrunner and Boggart Harbinger to 'seem' like a goblin blitz kind of deck. Then when I draw Banefire sack off all my Goblins into it to get it to be uncounterable. I'm wagering if I get a couple hits in with guides early on, and I have a few Arsonists and tourchrunners on board, I can use the banefire to just blast my opponent to death. I mean each Marshal is basically two to three mana by themselves, the Arsonists are basically 2 mana, just one of it already being a ping rather then into the banefire. the Tourchrunner is effectively 4 mana into it, three being already used for 3 damage, the math seems to add up quickly baring a boardwipe right before hand. Maybe use some kind of draw power like the Faithless looting or something to help keep things flowing. I might consider using your list with some tweeks to make it work.
I think we shouldn't be playing either (or any black cards, actually), but yeah, Blood Artist is typically better since it triggers off opponents creatures too.
It's better yeah, but the point of the cutthroat is to play on the turn you are going off, so it really wouldn't matter. It is a value creature but this deck doesn't really play much creature destruction other than Anger of the Gods for it to be a big upgrade.
I don't think zulaport cutthroat should be removed because it gets around leyline of sanctity and ensaring bridge and can gain a bit of life to help against agro
I think you should have kept the hand game 3 against burn. Against that deck you have to just go for it and hope to get there. Eidolon is just so brutal and comes down so early that you just have to go for it. Yes it's risky but I think it's worth it in that situation.
ok i checked, apprently it's really random, and because IRL's shuffles are kind of not that random compared to real computer randomness, there is a huge gap between the mtgo experience and IRL paper magic experience ? Would make sense
Yeah, this is the difference. Magic Online is actually more random than human shuffling. I don't think it's a huge difference, but sometimes it does feel a little different.
In goblin storm add "impact tremors" for plan B. I see milion tokens who died in next turn... use them for dmg. And storm or not if someone use goblins there must be grenade ;)
29:27 With an 18 land deck, one would think that Blackcleave Cliffs and Copperline Gorge would have a near-zero downside, as having 4 lands is unlikely. Also, it's cheaper.
You could play more basics and swap Shocks for Battle lands making your mana base MUCH less painful, more resilient to Blood Moon, and reduce the overall cost of your deck.. Yea your mana would be ever so slightly less consistent and more involved but I think it'd be worth the change for the deck thinning and reduction in life loss.
I think the worst card in the deck is probably ritual. Unlike in regular storm you can't flash it back or reduce its cost so at best it gives you 1 mana for 1 card. Also I have to say this deck is spicy. When I first saw prospector I thought of playing coat of arms in the 8 whack deck. Don't know what I'd cut though.
I think the deck needs to be focussed, either go the 8 whack side, or go all in on storm. I don't think a combination of both of them is gonna be competitive.
Why black? You could pull this off in red by either doing Boggart Shenanigans if you want to keep the on death trigger. But I think Impact Tremors works better and cheaper.
13:28 was like 18 punts rolled into one. Why didn't he just play the 1 mana goblins, their a free redraw and up the storm count, plus if your sacrificing prospector grapeshot kinda does a better anger anyways by hitting all their guys and getting into their face a bit
If we wanted to improve the goblin beatdown plan it would work, but it would probably weaken the combo (although it would be easy enough to be red-green and play Chainwhirler thanks to all the the dual lands in Modern).
Read more about the deck (including a updated build from Jim Davis that might solve some of our issues) here: www.mtggoldfish.com/articles/much-abrew-goblin-storm-modern
MTGGoldfish do you think there's a chance Naya goblin tokens would work by using skirk to turn 2 a parallel lives or anointed procession?
why no frogtosser banneret or boggart shenanigens? I ran this deck back in 2007 and ran them to fix some of the issues i see people running into. commune with the gods seems the perfect way to fix the lack of being able to find Fecundity.

Commune with the Gods looks good to find fecundity or a goblin
Might like Benefaction of Rhonas a bit better (it gives you a enchantment and/or a creature for one more mana). At least I think it is worth trying. It might be to random if you a hitting a an enchantment and a creature for it to work. However if you ad some Boggart Shenanigans the usefulness will increase.
Seeing those 2 Boggart Harbringers sitting in your hand while you were complaining about drawing all lands made me die inside.
"I think this is enough" - opponent goes to -37 lol
"Sac a goblin, draw a card" is the new "Hit our swans, draw some cards" lol
Izzet Me what deck is this from?
Swan hunt
Izzet Me I prefer zombie hunt.
Izzet Me the swan deck is so much better lol. I want this deck to be good...but its not.
Chris Adams swan hunt is good for consistency and versitility, zombie hunt is good at being explosive and this is good at being a bad 8whack.
12:55 Fecunditys trigger pic is promo Emrakul.
Nick Ernst lol😂😂😂 it is game ending too lol
Nick Ernst it's the mind altering effects of emrakul
Subliminal Emrakul.
TH4T1DUD3 emrakul the net codes torn
at 27:34 Zulaport and Skirk Prospector's abilities are both Emrakul for a few frames as well. Weird.
I think this deck definitely has potential, but this version doesn't seem right. The version Jim Davis streamed last week seemed way better and more consistent. where can i find this jim davis list?
Algernon Fleur just search for his page on TH-cam he has a channel where he uploads streams. It's his 2.0 list on the page
Nathan Marhefke oh he has a youtube channel! thanks!
Algernon Fleur th-cam.com/video/0HxL9WjmSQU/w-d-xo.html
It's also in the much abrew article. While I'm not sure that anyone has found the optimal build, I think the Traverse build is a good starting point.
Jim Davis built this deck right. You cut the harbinger and the lootings and some of the jank and play 4 traverse, 4 bauble and 4 wraith. It's a hell of a lot more consistent and is more linear. This version is way to greedy I think
Yay! You're saying Fecundity correctly now! Thank you! :)
Shane Davis oh, gosh, a vein in my brain almost exploded in the Instant Deck Tech when Seth said "Fesundity"...
He said it right about 75% of the time. Idk why he'll say the same words differently throughout the same episode but I love him anyway.
Pretty sure he's just messing with us at this point
Calm down Sandy, Don't make me call DCF to take Julian away.
If you bitch about people who care about pronunciations in random comment chains on a video, it's clear your life is meaningless etc etc.
Constantly mispronouncing things get on some people's nerves. Deal with it.
1 life, 1 card, a billion Goblins... I think you've lived one of the truest of all Magic dreams.
Unlimited powaaah! Gotta love Seth's unbridled joy when the deck goes off.
The combo turns were awesome,! They just didn't happen often enough :(
Feels like the deck is trying to do too many things at once, check out jim davis' list where it focuses more on the combo than the tribal part
Jesus christ Seth, i would have scooped SOOO early on that first game and you managed to pull that win in the end. holy crap
Can we 51 our opponent.. Omg so amazing!!
Opponent should have killed the Prospector with the Fanatic, great finish though.
Yeah, opponent was punting pretty hard that game.
he coulda sacced in response
Hauke Boer but it would have stopped the combo.
Empty the Warrens is a sorcery, so yeah it would've caused a fizzle.
“We did it with one card in our deck and one life to our name.”
Sounds like a normal week to me.
Wow so awesome 1 mana 1 card. You deserve like a medal or something
This deck has an absurd potential, we need as a community to find a way to make it unstoppable
Jim Davis had a really consistent deck. Swap desperate ritual with infernal plunge, swap out harbinger for commune with the gods, drop the zulaport cutthroat, so it's all green red. I like the idea of adding shared animosity.

watching you have 18 goblins and not kicking the bushwacker was actually tilting.
Sac a goblin...draw a card....
Hit our swans, draw a card.
Hit the swans... Draw some cards...
From 51 to -37 life... Jesus!!! XD
"Don't call it a comeback..."🎶
What happened with fesundity? Jokes aside, great video and great deck Seth!!
Seth's obsession with durdle-drawing instead of something that would advance his game plan is both endearing and infuriating with a deck like this.
What about cutting the rituals for more card filtering effects similar to faithless looting, ala Cathartic Reunion, etc.?
Or maybe cutting the Harbingers?
Win while having 1 card in library and 1 life: achievement unlocked amiright?
Yep!
Mark Avo while your opponent is at 50+ health non the less
Could Dark Prophecy be Fecundity 5-8? Losing a life is bad and so is the mana situation, but having another copy of the combo enbabler would be really useful.
"it should down some duals..." I just have to point out that you went up on crypts from the IDT version.
The Crypts just replaced Auntie's Hovel (which was sold out). The IDT version had two basics as well.
Any else notice that around 27:15 when he is putting the triggers on the stack they change to a picture of emrakul for a second?
The best part is Seth (probably better know as SaffronOlive) at 49:58 "The power! THE POWER! THE POWER IS IMMENSE!"
Perhaps one of these days you could do a video on making a proper mana base? It seems like you see a lot of decks that are almost good, except they have terrible mana.
I actually just finished this deck and i would suggest playing goblin guide because it is just a good one drop goblin
Jim Davis played Goblin Storm on one his streams and had a similar experience. The games didn’t go well at all. He made a few changes and added Traverse the Ulvenwald and Commune with the Gods, both of which made the deck run quite a bit smoother.
Seem like good additions.

28:55 B+. Much like your first game against the Burn player, you just gotta jam it sometimes and hope for the best
Thoughts about Murderous Redcap in this deck for the extra value when sacrificing?
Why not try cutting Zulaport Cutthroat, a Desperate Ritual, and two Warchiefs for a set of Commune with the Gods? It digs for everything pretty efficiently, and the deck definitely has the creature+fecundity density to support it. Even synergizes/curves decently with looting if you mill one.
Hey seth, what about a bitter ordeal in the deck as another wincon? Even more jank?
Hmm, could be fun :)
You heard it here first:
Seth (PBKASO): "Mogg War Marshall becomes... Black Lotus."
Take a shot everytime Seth, Probably Better Known as SaffronOlive says a phrase like "we need to draw fecundity" or "if only we had fecundity"
26:18 why not manamorphose into cutthroat before sacking the bushwhacker?
At that point just wanted to make sure that we got as many tokens as possible with Empty the Warrens.
I would like to see a budget list for this deck. It looks awesome but i don't have money to make the deck as is.
Would this deck maybe want bogart shenanigans as a tutorable win condition?
Yay! Love your vids Seth. Notification squad!!!!
Boggart Shenanigans might be another win condition in this deck dealing 1 damage to target player each time you sacrifice a goblin.
Maybe use some kind of draw power like the Faithless looting or something to help keep things flowing. I might consider using your list with some tweeks to make it work.
So yeah, is it me or instead of cutthroat shouldn't it be playing blood artist? I know it's kinda corner cases but would it not be strictly better?
I think we shouldn't be playing either (or any black cards, actually), but yeah, Blood Artist is typically better since it triggers off opponents creatures too.
It's better yeah, but the point of the cutthroat is to play on the turn you are going off, so it really wouldn't matter. It is a value creature but this deck doesn't really play much creature destruction other than Anger of the Gods for it to be a big upgrade.
I don't think zulaport cutthroat should be removed because it gets around leyline of sanctity and ensaring bridge and can gain a bit of life to help against agro
impact tremors is better as it lets you cut black.
in the colors its easier to find a creature than an enchantment
popky101 we don't even want black imo. There's better options.
I don't think adding another enchantment that's never going to show up is going to help
Commune with nature
14:18 Did not do the math, really, but Seth - why have you not played the Zulaport Cutthroat to start with?
Why didn´t you splice to arcane the rituals when you had two?
Hell of a come back 1 life 1 card
Could commune with the gods help as a pseudo draw spell?
I think you should have kept the hand game 3 against burn. Against that deck you have to just go for it and hope to get there. Eidolon is just so brutal and comes down so early that you just have to go for it. Yes it's risky but I think it's worth it in that situation.
Is the random shuffle of MTG really random ?? Cause it doesn't really feel like it is...
ok i checked, apprently it's really random, and because IRL's shuffles are kind of not that random compared to real computer randomness, there is a huge gap between the mtgo experience and IRL paper magic experience ?
Would make sense
Yeah, this is the difference. Magic Online is actually more random than human shuffling. I don't think it's a huge difference, but sometimes it does feel a little different.
Computers can't create real random numbers, they are all result of calculations.
Im wondering why there would ever be no basic mountains in the deck, but there are basic forest and swamp in the deck
Pizza da rapper it's to play around blood moon. Definitely needed some mountains though
In goblin storm add "impact tremors" for plan B. I see milion tokens who died in next turn... use them for dmg.
And storm or not if someone use goblins there must be grenade ;)
Did you check out Jim Davis' list??
29:27 With an 18 land deck, one would think that Blackcleave Cliffs and Copperline Gorge would have a near-zero downside, as having 4 lands is unlikely. Also, it's cheaper.
Walloficecream Blackcleave cliffs is $50...
Can’t use fetch lands to thin your deck for draw power with this set up
Uh... why is Emrakul showing up in the triggers...? XD
If you got the fecun, you gotta have your fun
22:14 the absolute madman
I cant wait for you to play a knight deck.
Yeah, more Modern! My man!
That was incredible
If you play Harbinger you need to play a few one ofs like Piledriver, Krenko Mob Boss
31:36 Wonder if Seth is Emrakul in reality?
I think the deck needs to be focussed, either go the 8 whack side, or go all in on storm. I don't think a combination of both of them is gonna be competitive.
Maybe blood artist instead of zulaport?
Why black? You could pull this off in red by either doing Boggart Shenanigans if you want to keep the on death trigger. But I think Impact Tremors works better and cheaper.
blood artist does seem better, but black isn't good worth it in general.
Hit the swans, draw some cards...
What deck is this from?
42 Land Swan Hunt
This seems like the weirdest version of eggs ever
so does this mean you are taking this to the shop and pounding it out? then bring it back for a relook.
We might have to revisit.
Is there a reason to play zulaport over blood artist?
Match 1 game 2 looks like a good screenshot
I love fishbowl decks!
13:28 was like 18 punts rolled into one. Why didn't he just play the 1 mana goblins, their a free redraw and up the storm count, plus if your sacrificing prospector grapeshot kinda does a better anger anyways by hitting all their guys and getting into their face a bit
*Attacks with 8036 3 power creatures* Seth - "hopefullyyyy this is enough"
Well, our opponent had gained some life :)
MTGGoldfish Haha mostly just needling :)
Hey seth have you tried new lich with glorious end
Maybe ;)
Wow... you have the luckiest draws ever... so many lands xD
Bring in 4 streetwraiths and a noxious revival, maybe splash blue for serum visions
why the hell this deck doesnt play basic mountains? im confused
This is a good question.
Since you're not running any mountains you may as well be running verdant catacombs over bloodstained mires and wooded foothills
You were so close Seth. You started out saying fecundity correctly then you went all Pleasant Kenobi and ballsed it up
why not run a basic mountain to fetch up against burn?
Yeah, deck needs more basics.
"If you can't play fecund, you shouldn't play jund."
Seth is drunk with Goblin Storm power... :-P
Hey seth! Love from brazil!!!
Bogart shenanigan is a goblin for the harbinger to search up.
here in Brazil, Fecundity had a buyout, and sky rocket from 1 dollar, to 12 dollars !
sad market
Saffron olive oscillates between saying Fa-Sun-dity and the correct Fa-Kun-dity
Whenever I said Fa-sun-dity I pictured youtube yelling at me and sid Fa-kun-dity the next time.
Jim Davis' list with traverse and commune with the gods is more consistent
this mana base is a crime against humanity :(
Needs Commune with the Gods
Yeah, needs something to find Fecundity more consistently, that' for sure.
why keep adding red red on manamorphose you have infinite access to red?
This deck is pretty competitive
Yeah, this deck would be very effective if it had blood moon to cheat it with the rituals, and go with the 8-whack shell
Do you think a psychosis crawler would work in this deck
I think Psychosis Crawler is just too much mana for this deck :(
not mono red for chainwhirler?
If we wanted to improve the goblin beatdown plan it would work, but it would probably weaken the combo (although it would be easy enough to be red-green and play Chainwhirler thanks to all the the dual lands in Modern).
MTGGoldfish lol ya watch more of the video and I don't think that mana base can take any more abuse
HE SAID IT RIGHT!!!
I went back and forth I think :)
