Same story in St. Petersburg. You can buy tons of products from countries pretending to impose ""sanctions"" on Russia. With those sanctions they only hurt themselves. Best example is Germany where I am from. Greets to Russell from Paul.

Living in Kazan great shopping and supermarkets, when I speak to my family and friends in Australia the horror stories of price increases are not being seen here. Australia is fools gold.

Belarusian products are considered domestic. And all goods are produced in Russia (except Belarus and some wine, coffee). Western food companies were given a choice, either you produce goods in Russia or get out of Russia, other manufacturers are vying for your place. Russel, it’s worth noting that Bahetle originated in Tatarstan - a large, predominantly Muslim republic of the Russian Federation. That explains the somewhat unusual selection in their supermarkets.

It's a chain store from Kazan and the name translation from tatar language is "happiness". Unfortunately, that chain now closes some stores in Kazan . The main feature of this store - is "homemade style " cuisine
I know that the two major cities get extra attention when it comes to stocked shelves. These glorious stores do not, nor never have reflected the reality of the small towns. There's a reason why lots of people outside of Moscow and Saint Petersburg grow their own vegetables and fish.
Ok, great! We see that russians store still have food. But pretty interesting how another metrics changings after "800 Days of Sanctions". The industrial kitchen that wasn't made in Russia, the truck parts for the delivery of goods. Even the payment gateway at the registers. A few of the challenges with Sanctions effecting retail stores like this.
@@TravellingwithRussell Sanctions on some of the logistics affect food only indirectly. And increase the prices. Of which you avoid to talk. Understandably, though... Try going to the most undeveloped places of the USA and you'll find poverty, drug addiction, Gans and homeless but does that small % represent the majority?
We have a lot of food in any provincial shop. Just lately it's more expensive than were before. Super video. I'm glad and pleased that the Russian people still have the variety and quality. Having lived in Yorkshire, it was great to see Taylors of Harrogate Tea! 🙂👍
I was so surprised to see it also.
I'm glad Russians don't need specialized medical treatments, with hard-to-find medical products.
I'm also glad that the domestic aviation industry is self-sufficient.

Russell, can you please also visit the Eliseevsky grocery store on Tverskaya street? It looks quite stunning on pictures.
It’s permanently closed now.
Unfortunately, it is closed down as far. it is looking for a new investor or a retail company.

Thank you ))
Nice sanctions.
I've had to chance my brand of kiwi fruit, its got so bad.

The cleanliness is next level🎉🎉
Thank you, Russel, very interesting and great to see the variety compared to Australia. The cleanliness is also admirable. The only scary thing is your hand and I'm almost certain that one day it will come through my screen and grab me!
Wow
For sure.
Bahetle is expensive shop, that specialize in delicious tatar food and has quite extensive selection of imported goods from Europe. So beacuse of overpriced stuff, it struggles now and several stores closed. It is just outdated chain imho that stuck in 2000s

The sanctions are not about food, but about high technology products
Same story in St. Petersburg. You can buy tons of products from countries pretending to impose ""sanctions"" on Russia. With those sanctions they only hurt themselves. Best example is Germany where I am from. Greets to Russell from Paul.
@@eveliendorien global food supply chain is a bit more complicated than selling potatoes at a weekend market and depends on logistics and payment sanctions. Thanks Russell. It was a very interesting video!
Glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks for showing the truth

This is a supermarket for rich people, it is located in the center of Moscow
It's natural that there are a lot of products in the capital of a big country

Thanks for watching. I thought a lot of people would like this store.

Actually, this brand came from Kazan, Tatarstan. So, you can find food from Tatarstan
Correct. They only have this one store here in Moscow now.
Belarusian products are considered domestic. And all goods are produced in Russia (except Belarus and some wine, coffee). Western food companies were given a choice, either you produce goods in Russia or get out of Russia, other manufacturers are vying for your place. In the SPAR store I saw goods from Iran, I saw oranges from Syria.
This video might be interesting for you. It's about a chain of Belarussoan Supermsrkets coming to Russia. I managed to be at the opening for one of them th-cam.com/video/dp5v25x-2Kg/w-d-xo.html
This is Moscow.I was born on Okulovka, Новгородская область. Can you go to film there? Thank you .
Just amazing and very very clean.
Russia 🇷🇺 is in my bucket list and not just for 10 days.
Modern clean and if you can't find it there they probably don't make it.
Great video.
Thanks to God, it's NOT typical russian supermarket. With such prices I don' t wonder it's empty.
Well, first things first, you're in Moscow. Moscow and St. Petersburg are facades of Russia. Go to a small town/village in rural Russia.
Same in my own small city Kiselevsk and in Krasnodar where I live now
Not own but where I was born…
Russel, it’s worth noting that Bahetle originated in Tatarstan - a large, predominantly Muslim republic of the Russian Federation. That explains the somewhat unusual selection in their supermarkets.
Our stores in Alpharetta Ga don't come close to this luxury... maybe retire to Russia They are civil...while our cities are turning into hell holes
And we have plenty of Peaches here in Season.
With a Western income - this is a possibility. You should make sure that their politics won't touch you... It is also changing all the time to the worse...
So much better than Target or Walmart in the us
is this a typical ruzzian store? or in the heart of moscow?
because one can pick the poshist shop anywhere in the world.
This is a little further from Moscow as a comparison. th-cam.com/video/ZGtc-uj2QN8/w-d-xo.html
Good morning Russel
Morning. Well Afternoon for me here in Moscow. 3pm almost.
Supermarket video))) that what we know Russell for))) nice weather
It's a chain store from Kazan and the name translation from tatar language is "happiness".
Unfortunately, that chain now closes some stores in Kazan . The main feature of this store - is "homemade style " cuisine
I know that the two major cities get extra attention when it comes to stocked shelves. These glorious stores do not, nor never have reflected the reality of the small towns. There's a reason why lots of people outside of Moscow and Saint Petersburg grow their own vegetables and fish.
Such a big and great supermarket but yet there is nobody there. Perhaps one's entire life savings could buy a candy bar.
It is true that food is quite expensive nowadays in Russia, but there is no need to exaggerate.
I think at 15:00 the section (pies etc) is ethnic Tatar food typical for that region.
Correct. )))

Ok, great! We see that russians store still have food. But pretty interesting how another metrics changings after "800 Days of Sanctions". For the instance, @TravellingwithRussell, do you have indicators of inflation, index of income/cost as avg. across population, the share of monthly expenses that russians spend on food
You don´t seem to understand what is actually sanctioned. Food and daily life stuff isn´t sanctioned. What you mean would be a blockade.
The industrial kitchen that wasn't made in Russia, the truck parts for the delivery of goods. Even the payment gateway at the registers. A few of the challenges with Sanctions effecting retail stores like this.
@@TravellingwithRussell
Sanctions on some of the logistics affect food only indirectly. And increase the prices. Of which you avoid to talk. Understandably, though...
There are no direct sanctions / export restrictions on food, contrary to what you imply all the time.
But this is how you earn your living, and security, in Moscow...
On the other hand, it is the Russia government who puts direct restrictions on imports of certain product from certain countries.

Bakhetle, it comes from Tatar word Bəxetle (ə sounds like German ä) which means happy.
This is supposed to be a large grocery store? Should show the cost vs average income and spending power.
Average income is near impossible to compare from one person to the next. I understand your idea though.

Hi Russel how's the weather in Russia apartment and the phone bill gas is it cheaper than USA
The weather in my apartment is very nice. I A in shorts and t shirt inside. We have central heating in our building. We have hot radiators in the different rooms. It's very warm and cozy. At night we even have to open a window to let some cold air in are the apartment gets too warm. My monthly phone bill is $7.50usd. That's for unlimited calls and internet.
Bundaberg diet sars is my favourite of their range.
It’s a chain from Tatarstan. Used to be quite expensive and not really good for daily shopping. But: the best what you can buy here is the Tatar pastry (different pies, sweets), dunno if this specific shop sells the pastry still. Although picked only a sight of some chack-chack on the vid.
Oh! Later in the vid saw the pies! You should’ve grabbed them! Try сметанник))) it’s kinda Russian cheesecake made of tender cottage cheese) Also the triangle pies - эчпочмаки, traditional Tatar pies)

Please do the same walk around somewhere far from Moscow. We all know that Moscow is still comfortable. Show that whats going on in rural areas.
All rural areas in every single country are poorly developed but more than 70% of the Russian population lives in the big cities and life in the big cities is generally very comfortable. Try going to the most undeveloped places of the USA and you'll find poverty, drug addiction, Gans and homeless but does that small % represent the majority?
We have a lot of food in any provincial shop. Just lately it's more expensive than were before. And well, obviously sanctions are not about food, but about high technological products
We have such a big country and territory we can grow anything and make any food ourselves easily
There is a problem just with high technology, if we never did some details before and just imported them, so need long time to start do it
Come back to Australia, we couldn't find a parking space in the Saturday afternoon shopping. Mate.
Russel food as you know is not sanctioned. Can I ask you what platform you will be on when Y Tube is cancelled?
