I remember the wait for season 5 so clearly and then the season being split in two halves and waiting for the second part. It was basically a 6 season show with that fifth cut in half.
I think that the experience of watching it through multiple years, waiting for it, discussing it with friends, thinking about it is such a better experience than binging it.
It honestly was a six season show. The mid-season left on a major cliffhanger, and the break lasted for almost a year. Episode 8 aired on September 2, 2012, and Episode 9 aired on August 11, 2013.
I don't really care how it's recorded on paper. If you put a year between two half seasons, then that's two seasons to me - especially when you consider just how distinct the themes of the two were.

Walt always had a little bit of Heisenberg in him but he took a leap in S4 with his paranoia. Season 5 he's full on gone from Walt minus bits and pieces.
24:15 okay, we all know how Hannah pick up things that most of us didnt in our first watch but THIS? I had to watch an interview where Bryan said that part of his method acting was the posture of Walter White and Heisenberg, this is insane Hannah, I bow before your attention to detail.

@@playermartin286 yes thank you. not taking away from Hannah's observational skills, but yes it was obvious. it's one thing specifically used to show his transformation therefore something that people should, and are meant to notice. it's not a small facial tick or something. it is literally how he carries himself every time you see him on screen.

And the posture and change of voice was always very obvious to me. Even the season 3 finale with "Your boss is gonna need me" was apparent.

When you thought season 4 couldn't be topped
s5 is the best. Best in its own self, best in tv whatever you call it. This season is epic.
I have to say it... in hindsight, I think that opening scene was a mistake by the producers. It gave too much away, for the rest of the season you knew that something would go terribly wrong and were just waiting for it to happen.
I wouldn't call that a mistake. It makes you wanna know what went down. And I think, it was obvious, that something would go wrong.
@@shenard6222 Sure, something has to go wrong, or else there's no story.
But this gave away so much. Walt's going to be on his own, without Jesse, without his family, in hiding from the law, and he needs some heavy weaponry with deal with someone.
Look at how much this rules out. We know Walt and Jesse won't be together a year from now. It rules out all kinds of possibilities like Hank finding out, but Walt murdering Hank in order to keep his secret and his family.
We know Walt's going to leave town for a while, only to return for revenge. It gives away that the police will find out he's Heisenberg, and some group will betray him... which shortly becomes obvious, it's Todd and his family, because they're the only ones who could betray Walt. It's so much information to give away in the story, it's too much.
Why should he stop listening to Walt? Walt destroyed the evidence. He won. So?
This will be fun, i loved the ending of Breaking Bad. Best show on Television, even today.

That time jump really robbed the audience. There was the opportunity to tell some many stories once Heisenberg became the Crime Boss of meth. It can't have all been smooth sailing. They could have had a whole season or two showing Walt dealing with new situations. And what about the Cartel? Somebody would be bound to take their place and try to take Walt's territory.

I love this season but to me the Season 4 finale would have been a better ending. Leaving it like that would have been a trip.
