The guy who get killed by Mike was Chris Mara, he escorted Gus to kill Hector along with Tyrus Kitt and previous he kidnapped Walter with Tyrus and take him in the desert when Gus fired him.
Surprised you don't remember Madrigal being mentioned when Hank went to the DEA about Gus last season. Hank tracked the lab equipment Gus and Gale bought as coming from Madrigal.
I didn't remember this my first watch either. Plus imagine seeing this for the first time as it aired. You'd have to remember that company name briefly mentioned a year after you first heard it

@@DanielFerreira-hx4jw They didn't understand the importance or scale of it, though. It probably should have had a bigger impact for Hannah, who deconstructs everything. They still think Gus was the kingpin.
DAMN I never realized the computer was encrypted so they wouldn't have gotten anything regardless! So their little stunt actually got them more in trouble by exposing the accounts! Wow

Lmao no offense to Hank but I doubt he's the most tech savvy person on earth. They could've handed the laptop over to the CIA or FBI and had their master hackers take a crack at it.

Most people miss that Gus was on his way out anyway. The DEA were now properly on his trail and the sudden death of Walt and/or Hank would essentially solidify that Gus is guilty.
Of course Gus deserved to die! He was running a drug empire, hiding in plain sight but didn't stop at anything. Countless people got hooked on drugs, got hurt and killed because of him, directly and indirectly, including children he and his dealers used for distribution.

I've worked as a CO. I have deep empathy for a lot of people in jail, especially drug addicts. Drug dealers, however, are real pieces of shit. They're predators who prey on the broken and desperate to make quick cash, while leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. There are no innocent dealers. They're just different kinds of predators.

Walt does care about Jesse, he's more than a pawn. He probably considers him family. Yes he manipulates and controls him. It's toxic but there is affection there.
I agree Walter is a VERY bad person and has done awful things but people like to act like he has absolutely no redeeming moments or traits which isn't true. This is coming from someone who hates Walt with a passion lmao
Walt called Jesse "son" multiples times.
Walt's probably got NPD or something, so he probably does care about Jesse, but it's the same way someone like that cares about *anyone* : as a possession. That's why Walt's affection has to be *earned* .
Yes, later on we will see in the last episode. I truly think that Walt does care about Jesse regardless all the misery he had caused Jesse.

And because Walt felt the need to destroy that damn laptop (never mind the fact that anyone who even knows the very basics about Gus would think he would have it so encrypted aliens couldn't touch it) it sent a snowball rolling. That's one thing I really like about BrBa: one tiny decision creates major consequences.

- Gus also had account numbers written plainly on the other side of a photo (something that was discovered because of their going after the laptop, but which is routinely checked in a course of an investigation). These account numbers included names - like Mike's granddaughter.
- Gus also didn't intend for the DEA to be on to him, but thanks to Hank, they were investigating him and had him connected to Gale.
- Gus also didn't intend to get blown up.
Gus was a calculating businessman who made a lot of great decisions, but everyone makes mistakes, and Gus made quite a few less than obvious ones. Walt and crew's assumption that the laptop was going to give them away was a good one, and they acted proactively to prevent that from happening. With the knowledge they had, their decision was a good one.
There are so many things like that in this show, it's amazing. Even just now, if Lydia didn't have a young daughter who happened to be right there, Mike would have killed her and moved on with his life, never seeing Walt and Jesse again.

Mike doesn't concern himself with who does and doesn't deserve to die. From his perspective, business is business. And as long as it goes smoothly, he's good. That's why he respected Gus. For his stability.

So, the whole magnet thing served no purpose because Gus had his laptop encrypted. Walt should have left well enough alone. Then Mike's money wouldn't have gotten seized.
They had no way of knowing that. It was a move they had to make and it had unintended consequences

I think Jesse is a good guy because he's just being manipulated through the entire show, from day one. He's manipulated by Walt, Gus, Mike, and even Jane. All of them have used him to accomplish their goals.

Crazy that through the first four seasons, the audio was good, and now, it's in the toilet somehow.
Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul fucking kill it with their performances this season. They perfectly capture their portrayals of Walt with his unsettling arrogance and Jesse with his frayed emotions. It's a fantastic season and you guys have only just started.
Sure lots of people get hurt and killed in Walts wake - almost all of which were trying to kill Walt or severely harm or screw him over!! Anyone not trying to kill or screw Walt would have been fine, it has been the pride and stupidity of everyone else that got them killed just as much as Walts pride being a factor.
In fact Walt ending on top shows he is the only one out of everyone so far who had a reason to be arrogant and prideful.

Rana predicting everything that happens before it happens kind of gets on my nerves. She would be the type to watch a horror movie and go: "don't open that door", "there's gonna a jump scare", "I told you so", "he's gonna die isn't he"

What Volkswagon DID was pretty bad, but nowhere near as bad as you make out. What they did ONLY effected diesel fueled vehicles (an actually low percentage of their overall manufactured fleet), but from their standpoint ingenious. When diesel fueled vehicles (with an already existing reputation of having lower emissions than gasoline powered vehicles) that were manufactured after a certain date (I'm working completely from memory here, so I don't recall the exact timeline) were hooked up to a standard auto diagnostics computer, the onboard computer LIED to the test-taking computer, giving even lower emissions data than were actual, all in an attempt to boost sales of their diesel fueled vehicles (which were ironically ACTUALLY better at reducing emissions than gasoline powered vehicles).
Bottom line: Volkswagon cheated to enhance an already scientifically proven truth (diesel actually DOES burn cleaner than gasoline), and in so doing ruined their reputation for years.

Diesel only produces (slightly) less carbon dioxide - but most also produce substantially greater amounts of other toxic elements that are much more harmful directly to humans and also do effect the climate as well.
Because they produce more of the extremely dangerous toxic emissions for humans, lying about how you are reducing this risk and how much is being produced is a major scandal due to the impact on human health being so much greater than petrol. The scandal wasn't entirely or mostly about climate change, it was also this. Anyone who thinks it "wasn't that bad" has been well and truly hoodwinked.

I hate when shows do that. I'm French and I cannot count all the times since I was kid watching American shows when they had people speak French and it was horrible, they cannot speak the language. Even in recent years on shows like Mad Men when they had the parents of Don Draper's french wife talking in French it was terrible. Esp. Julia Ormond.
At least the German here is broken, but still comprehensible. I've seen other American shows where the German was so heavily accented that it was incomprehensible to me as a native speaker.
I'd rather have someone who is a good actor than someone who isn't but speaks perfect German. Besides the series is made for american audiences, a majority of who can't tell is someone's german is good or not.

So many years later and I *still* don't like Skyler. Hell, even the people that agree she's the moral lifeline in Walt's life (or Moral wall?) watch the show and think, "God I hate her." It was an odd example where the writers did a bad job.

I kinda don't like that whole ''pop pop'' thing. Makes him sound like a non threatening innocent old man that isn't a hardened criminal that kills and aids with the destruction of thousands of families with his job in the toxic drugs industry. It isn't like he's an enforcer for a weed smoker. A lot of BB viewers act like he's a good guy, he really isn't. Great character yes? Great guy? Nope. Same goes for Walt.
It also takes away from the immersion a bit if you watch this show with the ''just kill him'' mindset like Rana does. The whole thing about this show is that it's pretty realistic and killing is a big thing. Even if Mike is a killer, he still had issues with killing a woman in front of her kids and also add his own ego in wanting to earn more money and realize he needs Lydia for that.

They definitely do. It's normal to be against Walt at this point (obviously) but they really have a kind of overbearing hysterical hatred for him. He's a very bad man with some good qualities, not the devil incarnate.
