This is absolutely my favorite Chris Hemsworth role. He brought so much to it. And that conversation at the end is one of my favorite scenes in recent memory if not one of my favorites ever. Just so so good. Happy everyone on the couch liked it, it really does deserve much more love than it’s got. It’s not fury road good, but it’s still so solid
This movie was masterfully done in so many ways. Firstly, it tells you through Dementus that there is no happy ending and that there won't be any resolution to the loss she suffered. As gripping as the ending is, this movie can almost be seen as having no real climax. That's because Fury Road is like one big climax that fits as the final conflict resolution to her story. Charlize Theron carries the role and the loss of her home well in the other movie. But it's a weight we don't get to see or learn about because we're seeing through Max's eyes. Anya's role here gives that movie the gravity it needs and it also explains how she was able to trust him so quickly. Max reminds her of Jack and that bond they had through fighting to survive together. And Max has somebody who's lost as much as him and can keep up with him. Meanwhile the conflict has been slowly building between her and Immortan Joe. But besides seeing her as a nameless child, he doesn't know her and only sees her as his "Pretorian's assistant" until she takes over after Jack dies. Joe has no reason to even see her as a person given his massive army, that is until she demands retribution on Dementus. Then he sees the fire in her and promotes her to Imperator by Fury Road. By then he might see the connection between her and the child he took years ago, but won't actually catch on until Charlize delivers the line "Remember me" at the end when she finally kills him. People forget that she actually has no direct lines with him in Fury Road up till that point. There's seemingly no callback, but the actress gives it her all and it's a badass line anyways. That's because the callback is to that moment when he was, let's say, "enchanted" by her as a child. It's only then at the moment of his death, does he realize who she is and roar at her with sheer animosity before she tears his face off. Then she saves the wives and finally returns home. And she wouldn't have been able to do any of it without Max. So in a way, Max does end up saving her. This movie shows that she's at her lowest point in Fury Road. Everyone is gone and the only thing she clings to is saving the wives and to running home. Max is just along for the ride and then when her home is gone, she's left shattered. All intents and purposes, she should be broken. But saving them is all she has left, and Max knows that pain well from the other movies and the game. By the time of Fury Road, he's killed Scrotus. But he's lost another family he could have had if he'd stayed behind in the videogame. Everytime he runs away throughout the franchise he loses. Now his pain is so bad all he sees are the dead taunting him. So helping her is like helping himself at this point. They save each other, but then they depart. His story still has no ending, but now he has a purpose. He's not a cop anymore, but he's still saving people. Just like he always does. And Furiosa finally has a home, and it's one that she's learned to make work for her over time through both movies.
I already know Chris Hemsworth will be robbed of his rightfully deserved Oscar for this. This movie was literally the best performance of his career. It was on the same level as Heath Ledger’s Joker!!!
Until she stands up with her hair flowing on the front of the war rig and driver Jack first sees her, they were using AI deepfake to blend the two actors faces. Once she stands up and shows her hair, it is fully Anya’s face Also that whole scene where they fight off the mortar fires and the octoboss, took 73 days to film
This is my favorite film of the year at this point. Absolutely epic viewing experience in theaters. The cinematography blew me away. Hemsworth is so good at being goofy yet threatening... powerful and pathetic. Both Furiosa actresses were wonderful. Wish more people went to see it in theaters. Something about Australia just screams EPIC
I love how this movie points out every time a character shows compassion towards or mercy they pay for it. Mary Dies. Jack Dies. And Dementus Dies. The only way to survive is to live only for yourself. Unless you’re Max.
54:02 If you notice in the arm scene, One of Dementus' gang 'Mr Davidson' is reluctant to follow his order and it seems he's the one that cut her arm and help her escape.
at 1:03:52 Dementus doesn't fake a seizure, the severe trauma to his head causes him to have a seizure, which is interesting as it proves that despite his high pain tolerance his body still has limits.
“The resource-rich oasis may be filled with seats of power, but the roads between them are under the control of The Octoboss, and he exacts a hefty toll on all those who dare to pass within reach of his tentacles.” The Octoboss is so underrated.
The movie didn't flop guys, giving the movie such a short run in theaters with such high expectations is just self sabotage. The movie is good, the people that watched it know it's good, and people don't watch movies only in theaters, they buy them online later, they buy merch, they interact with the material.
I think Rana has Dementus all wrong. He's not intelligent, but by no means is he stupid. He has a very high level of charisma, which he uses to his advantage, and he is very crafty, as shown when he took Gastown and bargained with Immortan Joe. He just has no ability to run a larger group or hold down a fort because he's not built for that kind of living.
I mean the fact that the entire couch here loved Fury road but only Suraj went and watched Furiosa in theaters says everything 😅. People won't support movies like these and then expect we'll keep getting more. (not hating on the Normies at all, it was a worldwide trend)
@@Arctic_Stark Yeah, two of my friends who loved Fury Road and mentioned Furiosa several times when talking about the films of 2024 they were most excited about, didn't actually watch it in theater in the end. But to be fair: I also didn't really do my part. I watched it once in theater, loved it, and wanted to watch it again once or twice. But then I waited too long for the rewatch and it was only shown on very small screens when I wanted to go a second time after a few weeks and then it was pulled completely after another week. At least I immediately bought it on VoD now.
Furiosa was incredible. Mad Max Fury Road is George Miller’s Masterpiece in an impressive body of work that has spanned over 5 decades. Though it’s in the Mad Max universe & directly related it’s not fair to compare Furiosa to Fury Road. It should be looked at as a standalone film & as such, it is incredible film. I think many people wanted another strap-you-to-a-rocket ride that is Fury Road but although it is based in the Wasteland & shares characters, the backdrop, etc it’s a very different film. The pacing is slower, there’s more dialogue, more characters, etc I think many people incorrectly believed it was a feminist styled Girl Boss poisoning of Mad Max but that couldn’t be further from the truth. It’s a shame it didn’t do better in the box office because it’s such a creative & fun ride. George Miller & crew are so detail oriented with the Wasteland as they make all the vehicles, costumes, tools, etc with so much care We see how wastelanders would conceivably live with repurposed items. Again, the creativity with the Mad Max ethos, pathos, etc makes it so immersive. For example, the signal flares they use are called “Sky Blood” by the War Boys. I love how one of the bikers shoots it into the ground which gives red hair to Dementus & Furiosa. It’s little details like this that make it so good. How George Miller was able to make it indelibly Mad Max & Fury Road with a different vibe is a testament to his mastery. Even the low-key dark & dry comedy was welcome & added a different touch to very dark subject matter. It’s a brutal film as it represents the brutality that is the Wasteland but Miller was able to balance things well. I loved this movie & one should see it & hear it in all its glory on the big screen. Haven’t watched your reaction yet but I’m pretty sure you guys are going to love it. Going to jump into your reaction now.🙂👍 Edit: BTW, Scrotus is played by Josh Helman who played Slit in Fury Road, Nux’s Lancer
@@jsmithers. No doubt The Road Warrior is a hummungus work of art, but Fury Road is the masterpiece that will immortan-lize him as a legendary director
@@KenjiMapes Because it was a more mainstream release with an insanely large budget. So of course more eyes are gonna see it thus "immortalizing" him. But that doesn't make Fury Road the best Mad Max movie by default. Road Warrior is 100% on par with it.
A lot of people make jokes about the water pipes at the citadel being a waste of water. The truth is all that water is coming out of an acquifer underground with enough water to fill a sea. All the water that isn’t used just seeps into the ground and filters back down to the acquifer so it’s never wasted.
They actually spread oil to dampen the dust, preventing it from flying around. This way, vehicles don't kick up dust, and the citadel won't see them coming. Dementus had a pretty good plan and it would have worked, if Furosa did not escape and returned to the Citadel.
One of the reasons movies are flopping is the streaming industry. Movies are taken off theaters before they can find their footing. Furiosa was only on the big screen for about 2 to 3 weeks before it was removed. Companies expect a high revenue from the get-go and if that doesn't happen, they quit immediately.
So many good movies flop these days cause it’s so expensive to go to the theaters. Everyone just waits to watch it at home. Wish they could lower prices at the theaters.
People need to learn to eat before at home before going to the theater before spending 20 to 30 bucks for popcorn candy soda pop and whatever fried crap they serve and it won't be so expensive....movie theaters hate me lol
The mad Max game is really fun you should play it if you ever get the chance Mickey. It's a huge open world with vehicle combat and also Arkham style like combat.
I like how as Furiosa ages Dementus progressively loses aura. As the White Dementus he's untouchable and terrifying. When he's the red Dementus, he's already slipping. He gets humiliated by Joe, and then gets backtalk from his subordinates, and basically loses an entire faction after taking Gas Town. The negotiation has him acting outright clownish. As the "dark" Dementus, he's barely holding onto Gas Town, but then tries to make a move for the Bullet Farm, over extending himself and finally loses the 40 Day war pretty handily. He's driven by hedonism, sadism and spite. By all accounts Joe loses nothing he wasn't already willing to sacrifice. At the end we see Dementus as the sad, pathetic joker he always was.
The Scrag (Dementus’s funny guy y’all loved) is played by one half of The Umbilical Brothers, a legendary Aussie comic duo. Check them out for some grade A slapstick mime.
The next movie is supposed to be another Fury Road prequel called Mad Max The Wasteland (working title), focussed on Max. Unfortunately there hasn’t been much forward movement. Tom Hardy said he doesn’t think it’s happening, though Miller said he would wait to see the reception of Furiosa before taking more concrete steps
Well, you got your answer then with Furiosa bombing in theaters. GM should've made the film sooner with Tom Hardy and not worried about a prequel about Furiosa without it starring Charlize Theron anyway.
Great to see Mickey is back! Even if it’s just for a reaction or two. I hope he keeps joining the crew in future reactions. At least movie reactions. As for Mad Max, y’all should definitely watch the originals. They’re super iconic, specially Road Warrior. So iconic in fact that they partially inspired the original Fallout games and the fallout universe as a whole. -Also the Mad Max game is pretty great. It really expands upon the MM universe.

Well it's like a making a movie about Cinderella...
Where the main focus is how the Prince got all his swag ...
Like yeah it will be a good movie but you removed the main reason people went to see these movies In the first place
Cinderella!!
And I can't stress enough how this isn't bad movie... it just above average nothing really to complain about but people want to see Max in a Mad Max movie so a lot of the core fan base who loves Max skipped out
I think if they would have just called it
Furiosa!!
it would have done a lot better because then people wouldn't be disappointed in seeing the name of mad max used because they don't trust in Furiosa... when I think there was a big core fan base for her character in mad max
@DrewStark-b5b you can't ask people to lower their expectations when you put the name Mad Max in the title
Again it would be like going to a Taylor Swift concert where Travis Scott is the main stage performance and Taylor never shows up...
Like maybe some people will still have a good time but a grand majority are going to be upset about not getting a Taylor Swift concert
@@chrishernandez8504 I think this movie was originally supposed to come out a year or so after Fury Road as a stop-gap between Fury Road and The Wasteland. Unfortunately it didn't worked out that way. I think if it did it would have gotten a better reception. It's basically a solid movie that came out 8 years too late. I kind of agree about the "A Mad Max Saga" title. Something like "Furiosa-A Road Warrior Tale" would have worked out better; but Mad Max is a marque name and Furiosa isn't, so the studio probably insisted in having Mad Max in the title. Still I'm glad this movie was made. I loved the world building in it. Imo, if you consider it a Mad Max film, I'd put it in the middle of the pack; better than the first one and Thunder Dome but not as good as The Road Warrior and Fury Road
Because it's not Mad max + this movie had nearly no OST to boost the thrill.
@@chrishernandez8504No.....Fans care about the Mad Max universe....They don't care about Max himself all too much. If this movie starred Max it would have still been a flop.
This movie is a masterpiece.
Glad to see you’re still in the Reacts for now, Mickey, crossing my fingers you’ll change your mind and stick around.
I hope he stays also but this was probably recorded before he announced he was leaving.
All good things come to an end
He's taking a break to focus on his mental health
He made a video explaining it@DrewStark-b5b
@DrewStark-b5b There’s a video titled something like that and in it he explains what’s going on. He’s apparently no longer going to be a part of the Reacts but instead focus on longer commentary videos I believe. Normies have been leaving a link to the new channel in most of their vids as they get uploaded.
@@Gideonite pretty sure the movie just came out in streaming. He's probably gonna pop in for the reactions that require low time commitment. Like movie reactions.
I love this movie. Watched it twice in theater and wouldve three times if I could
Saw in theaters, fantastic movie. I love how it's in like chapters. Love the reaction.
Dementus was spraying oil before his army as it moved through a dry riverbed to eliminate dust clouds that would give away his position.
This came out on my Birthday, I couldn’t have asked for a better present
I already know Chris Hemsworth will be robbed of his rightfully deserved Oscar for this. This movie was literally the best performance of his career. It was on the same level as Heath Ledger’s Joker!!!
BTW the little girl who plays young Furiosa is also going to be in the new Sonic movie and will play a significant role in Shadow’s backstory 🦔🖤❤️🌍
Oh, dude, that's Maria you're talking about if you played Sonic Adventure 2.
The dude with the big black horns is the son of Bruce Spence, who played The Gyrocaptain in MAD MAX 2.
No, it's not.
@@fabiovieira8442 I mixed him up with someone else. But one of those guys is Bruce Spence's son. He looks just like him.
@@RolandDeschain1 Octoboss (guy with horns) does look like him but it's not his son.
Absolutely loved this movie. Saw it twice in theaters, once in IMAX and again in 4DX. Dementus is my favorite villain of the year so far.
This movie is awesome, the pacing is very different from Mad Max but its still exhilarating.
"I am the conductor of the quire of death, sing brother Glock, sing!" ; )
*choir of death
"Sing Brother Heckler! Sing Brother Koch!"
Because he's holding two H&K SMGs.
oh boy, was really in my cups for that comment : (.
Until she stands up with her hair flowing on the front of the war rig and driver Jack first sees her, they were using AI deepfake to blend the two actors faces. Once she stands up and shows her hair, it is fully Anya’s face
Also that whole scene where they fight off the mortar fires and the octoboss, took 73 days to film
Witness me!
So shiny and chrome
This is my favorite film of the year at this point. Absolutely epic viewing experience in theaters. The cinematography blew me away. Hemsworth is so good at being goofy yet threatening... powerful and pathetic. Both Furiosa actresses were wonderful. Wish more people went to see it in theaters. Something about Australia just screams EPIC
This movie rocked in theatres!
I love how this movie points out every time a character shows compassion towards or mercy they pay for it. Mary Dies. Jack Dies. And Dementus Dies. The only way to survive is to live only for yourself. Unless you’re Max.
54:02 If you notice in the arm scene, One of Dementus' gang 'Mr Davidson' is reluctant to follow his order and it seems he's the one that cut her arm and help her escape.
he was also one who survived, you can see him in the last scene we see the history man when Furious hunts down Dementus with scrotus car
That long opening “chase”sequence 🥵I want a Charlee Fraser spinoff
ONE OF THE BEST MOVIES OF 2024!
This might be the first movie Hemsworth and his wife are in together. That's super cool!
at 1:03:52 Dementus doesn't fake a seizure, the severe trauma to his head causes him to have a seizure, which is interesting as it proves that despite his high pain tolerance his body still has limits.

No. Its a flop. Sucks but its true. George Miller will never be greenlit to make a Mad Max movie again.
@@jsmithers. Certainly not for this high of a budget at least.
@@MarkHWillson Which means he won't do it at all.
To get those numbers he promised double rations and such. He had no logistical or sense of how to govern. But was a great at getting followers.
Please react to the original MAD MAX trilogy
Mel Gibson IS Mad Maxx...no one can improve on the originals
Chris Hemsworth said his influence for Dementus voice in this movie he got from old-school horse Derby announcers. Mostly from the Australian Derby.
They have flamethrowers because they have ready access to gas. The moat is designed to be lit on fire.
Lining a dirt or gravel (or mix) road with oil sprayed over it is the most basic type of road. It makes it a lot better than just dirt or gravel
Actually kinda pissed this bombed. This movie was freaking sweet.
I mean the fact that the entire couch here loved Fury road but only Suraj went and watched Furiosa in theaters says everything 😅. People won't support movies like these and then expect we'll keep getting more. (not hating on the Normies at all, it was a worldwide trend)
@@Arctic_StarkIt’s Their Job Not To Go Watch Movies In Theaters, They Sacrifice Once In A Lifetime Experiences So You Can Get Reaction Videos
THE MOVIE WAS SO GOOD!
Going to jump into your reaction now.🙂👍
Edit: BTW, Scrotus is played by Josh Helman who played Slit in Fury Road, Nux’s Lancer
Many people still consider Road Warrior his masterpiece.
Fury Road was one of the best action movies ever, people will realize it eventually
Word to the wise: Watch movies in the dark. Cameras will still capture your image and the experience will be more like watching a movie than TV.
A lot of people make jokes about the water pipes at the citadel being a waste of water. The truth is all that water is coming out of an acquifer underground with enough water to fill a sea. All the water that isn’t used just seeps into the ground and filters back down to the acquifer so it’s never wasted.
Y'all got to watch Bad Times at El Royale for more Chris Hemsworth being a bad guy.
Awesome reaction of my favorite Mad Max movie!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊
ANYA WAS GREAT IN THE MOVIE!
THIS MOVIE WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They actually spread oil to dampen the dust, preventing it from flying around. This way, vehicles don't kick up dust, and the citadel won't see them coming. Dementus had a pretty good plan and it would have worked, if Furosa did not escape and returned to the Citadel.
This was such an awesome film to see in theaters. Would love to get a Blu-ray bundle of this and Fury Road.
The continuation of Mad Max and what happened is in the credits
Ok?
They've already seen Fury Road....Thats what the credits are..
The Mad Max game is very underrated. It was a good solid game
I love how they just attached a big ass nose to Chris Hemsworth's character and then called it good lol It's so massive that it looks hilarious haha
Christ Hemsworth’s dad was almost in the original Mad Max movie; but wasn’t able to, due to something else coming up
So many good movies flop these days cause it’s so expensive to go to the theaters. Everyone just waits to watch it at home. Wish they could lower prices at the theaters.
I saw this in the theater for 5 bucks lol
People need to learn to eat before at home before going to the theater before spending 20 to 30 bucks for popcorn candy soda pop and whatever fried crap they serve and it won't be so expensive....movie theaters hate me lol
The mad Max game is really fun you should play it if you ever get the chance Mickey. It's a huge open world with vehicle combat and also Arkham style like combat.
Back to the Wasteland baby !!! 😍
Micky was right. Thors plan was just to roll up to the citadel? The worst thing he could possibly do
I like how as Furiosa ages Dementus progressively loses aura.
FURIOSA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Scrag (Dementus’s funny guy y’all loved) is played by one half of The Umbilical Brothers, a legendary Aussie comic duo. Check them out for some grade A slapstick mime.
I ENJOYED THE MOVIE!
This will be a reaction video just - forever.
ANYA WAS PERFECT!
The Mad Max videogame has some faults, but where it excels is in the depiction of "scavenged architecture". I loved it.
Dementus is not stupid. He almost won if it wasn't for furiosa telling Joe.
Most of The Normies didn't go to the theaters to watch this movie so they have no room to cry about the general audience. Not going to see it
