- Each day I come home to this greeting!
Watch as Mr Rooster "threatens the hens back in line", "git in behind!" "heel boy, heel!", THE RUNNING OF THE HENS!, he tries to quell the STAMPEDE , by "making a cape" from his wing. It doesnt work though, they're too excited to see ME!
The "ook ook ook" clucking noise is from the yellow hen with black spots on her tail feathers, shes broody at the moment, wanting to sit on a nest, her hormones are all out of whack, part of her odd behaviour includes that noise!

My cousin's chickens do this to me because i bring them leftover cornbread. They love it more than anything else.
Actually, if I don't have it they peck my toes through my flipflops. They seem to go ape sh** for left over cocktail shrimp also.

Oh god, they are protective. Sometimes TOO protective. I remember we had this one rooster who stuck really close to one particular hen. I just literally stood beside the hen one day, he saw from across the field and I didn't notice. Next thing I knew, I was peeling pecked-off skin from my toes that he attacked

I've seen Roosters that will CARRY tidbits to the hens, to make sure His Ladies got treats! A really good Rooster will even fight off hawks that try to carry off a hen!
I raised chickens when I was a little girl & never forgot how good the eggs were.
Now I'm a grandma, taking care of my 95 year old mom.
My dream is a little trailer somewhere where I can have a few hens and a rooster. My grandkids would love it, I think.

Always odd to me how people know nothing about the behaviour of chickens :/ He didn't run in the pillar. Males do this little dance, wing down, circling the female. It's one of the most commonplace thing you can see roosters do.

@@2011zeldafan I had a special needs hen that I had to feed manually. When she got hungry, she would come inside (we left the doors open for air) and walk around the house to find me. She was the sweetest and loved to take naps on my lap, lol.
