This is such an interesting video. The cat was being so gentle, grooming them, not using claws. When the hen walked in, she didn't panic. She seemed more curious than anything, she walked over and watched the cat and her kids. The cat even looked back at the hen and closed her eyes, like she was trying to tell the hen she meant no harm. This and the fact that the hen started closing it's eyes, which birds do to signal trust. It shows that these animals trust each other completely, even in the presence of their kids. This video has completely changed my view on cats and their prey drive. Like dogs, it seems they also have a high level of emotional awareness, and can have impulse control over their instincts. Cute video, but also a crazy example of animal behavior between predator and prey.
For cats, when it involves animals that should be their preys, it's a bit more complicated than that. Even with the best work and socialization, it will mainly be a balance between prey drive and caretaking behaviors. Also, most prey drive in cats is triggered by something small moving quickly. Anything big or slow will not trigger them unless they've learned to hunt it before. I had a cat with high caretaking behaviors and high prey drive. She would never harm "fluff ball" chicken, but those same chicken starting to grow their first feathers would trigger her prey drive at the first run. Then, once the chicken became adults, they wouldn't fit the "prey" category (too big for that), and she would stop being triggered by them. And you can't really do something about a cat's prey drive. They are between prey and predator, most of their behaviors linked to hunting and flight are reflexes rooted in genetic, because in the wild, they can't have the luxury to stop and think about what they'll do. They can have true emotional awareness and impulse control with animals that aren't preys. Like, my current cat has a low-to-medium level of caretaking behaviors, she has an insanely high prey drive. I still do animal assisted therapy with her, because she's a really sociable cat, specially with young humans (she's the kind of cat that will see a 2yo and *run* to greet them, even if she doesn't know the kid). She loves interacting with others, be part of the group. She's really amazing at reading the room, reading people, reading other animals, reading me, and adapting her behavior to what she understands of the situation. She's great with teenagers, anxious adults, etc. It happened more than once that she changed a behavior I taught her, or did a thing I never trained her to do, but it was the right thing at the right time. One thing that blew my mind is that she wasn't socialized to dogs when she was young, I don't have dogs at home, she had more bad encounters than good, but she's still great with them. She met her first one at 6-7 months old, she took some time to observe, and since then, she has been really, really good at adapting her behavior to the age of the pup, to recognize the "polite, dumb or predator" posture displayed, and also to change her communication so she could be more understandable (she uses her ears A LOT with dogs, and that's one part of the body language both species share a lot of similarities).
While the comment above put it far better than I ever could, it's really not that simple. I've heard horror stories of people's cats, who were otherwise "extremely friendly", kill and eat baby chicks. It would legitimately shock the owner, as their cat's were normally "so sweet". Honestly, I'm fairly sure that, similarly to dogs, genetics and personality (both often intrinsically tied) are a big factor here, alongside training and social exposure. Dogs that are well bred from reputable breeders are often much more *naturally* well behaved. Of course, that's not to say that mutts or any other kind of dog is "bad" or can't ever be naturally sweet. It's just more of a guarantee that they'll be easier to train and have more inherently positive traits than negative ones. Why would cats be any different in that regard?
@@C-G1894it kills me that a lot of people don’t understand cats and the instinctual prey drive they have. Like when they chitter at birds through a window, they like to say how the cat wants to play with the bird. Sure… play, that’s exactly what they want to do 😅. I am so proud that the Hen did not peck the cat. The cat is a sweet heart.
Chicks don’t really seem to care about their mothers as much as many other animals do, they will gladly follow a human around, then follow the dog around, while their mother is just sitting there waiting for them. Avian intelligence is not as well understood as mammals are
Sana ang mga tao din, kahit conflicting in any ways, compassion, love and mercy prevails. Good example ang video na ito for preserving humanity and love sa panahon ngayon🥰
Love this. The cat certainly enjoyed providing care for the chicks, but showed respect to the mother hen when she turned up. If only life was like that. Care for them, but keep your distance when mom turns up.❤
I'm always amazed at how animals of different species recognize the young of another and nurture it. It's kinda beautiful to see animals adopting and caring for and cuddling with babies from a different mother and species.
They do for now. But in a couple weeks it will be much more difficult. This is a lot of chicks for one hen. Im guessing they have others somewhere or a seperate brooder. I let My broodies hatch 6 max.
I love animals, they more loving n loyal than anything on this planet, they dont judge you, they dont call you stupid, they always excited to see you...whats love when loyalty is the golden key ❤
People also are able to do these things. Problem is we live in quiet rotten world. We are not able to control ourselfes. Also dont think that people are bad and animals are good. It all depends on personalities. Animals are also able to do cruel things (even for pure fun), they are animals just like we are.
@BlackoPl21 there is no comparison between humans and animals when it comes to cruelty. Don’t be naive. Animals can be brutal of course but they don’t know any better (they generally only ever kill for food, territory, defending their young etc) and they have nothing on humans when it comes to cruelty and killing for fun - humans kill billions of animals annually for many different reasons, and usually not humanely (for food, fashion, sport, entertainment, experimentation etc etc). We inflict torturous and prolonged suffering on animals before dispatching them and obviously we kill many of our own species too. The human-animal is the most vicious, sadistic and predatory species ever to blight this planet (on the whole as a species). Obviously we cover the full spectrum and there are many good people too but nobody does cruelty like the worst specimens of the human species (of which there are just as many). It is not just about “personalities”..!!

I am so proud that the Hen did not peck the cat.
The cat is a sweet heart.
Chicks don’t really seem to care about their mothers as much as many other animals do, they will gladly follow a human around, then follow the dog around, while their mother is just sitting there waiting for them. Avian intelligence is not as well understood as mammals are
She was fed earlier so she’s toying with possible dinner 😂
Cat be like: "I want to eat some chicken nuggets later, for now I'm full"
I love the way how both the adults were gentle towards each other and how that cat took care of those chicks 🐤🐤🙂🙂
Cats mums care for eachothers babies. It's likely the cat sees the hen as family/packmate and was doing what comes naturally - keeping babies warm ❤
When the cat is looking at the hen it does the slow blinking!! That is ultimate sign of trust and family from a cat!!
It’s male cat. His name is hairball.
@@vassanab4243I can see why
2:40 that face is priceless 😂😂😂
You can really see the hen is thinking hard there, so cute.
😂😅😅
Animals truly are precious.
Mother's thinking "Uh. What do I do here."
Caption: "WTAF?" LOL
Sana ang mga tao din, kahit conflicting in any ways, compassion, love and mercy prevails. Good example ang video na ito for preserving humanity and love sa panahon ngayon🥰
😂😂 this cat enjoys the warmth of the huggy chicks. Hen: "scuse me??" 🐓 Cat: "Don't worry. I'm a professional." 😸
Not a rooster.
@@MrSpliffy3 oh you're right 👍 I've heard roosters can mutate into hens. The real reason chickens have high heels 🤣

Aww...Furball is such a thoughtful boy, how he gives mom space to cuddle her chicks. ❤❤❤ Thanks for sharing.

Aunty knows if one is missing 😂😂😂. Head roles 🤣🤣🤣. Mama hen wouldn’t take this lightly 😆😆😆. Cute 🥰
So much fluffiness and cuteness going on here! 🥰
The hen looked genuinely confused 😭❤️❤️❤️
I think it was trying to figure out if the cat was eating the chicks or not and couldn't figure out why the chicks were rubbing up against the cat
I can’t stop watching it, the cat is so cute and fluffy 😊
Oh what a sweet loving cat looking out for those cute little baby chicks. This is one of the most precious things I’ve seen ☺️
These videos are absolutely adorable and give me so much joy.
This Is So Adorable And So Cute Mother And Cat And Lovely Chicks 🥰😘😍♥️😊
It’s lovely to see how gentle that beautiful cat is with adorable chicks 🐥 🥰
This is sooooo cute! I love that the cat is taking care of the chicks while mom is away!
Cat is taking experience of being mother 😂
I like how the little chicks are trying to stay warm in kitty's fur.
Love this.
The cat certainly enjoyed providing care for the chicks, but showed respect to the mother hen when she turned up.
If only life was like that.
Care for them, but keep your distance when mom turns up.❤
Very cute and lovely! ❣️👏👏👏🥰☺️

قطة طيبة القلب تعتني بصغار وكأنهم أطفالها
I'm always amazed at how animals of different species recognize the young of another and nurture it. It's kinda beautiful to see animals adopting and caring for and cuddling with babies from a different mother and species.
Remember how stuff like this was never supposed to happen? Love how they all fit under the momma hen.
They do for now. But in a couple weeks it will be much more difficult. This is a lot of chicks for one hen. Im guessing they have others somewhere or a seperate brooder. I let My broodies hatch 6 max.
Nope, don't remember that at all, sorry.
Fluffiest cat Ive ever seen!😙
What a beautiful and gentle kitty! 😍
I love how both the cat and the chicks start getting snuggly and closing their eyes ❤
I just love videos like that they are so very cute. 🙂🙂🐱🐱
That moment that the chicken walked in... Deserves an oscar for Best Entrance
Her patience to know what’s happening here
I love animals, they more loving n loyal than anything on this planet, they dont judge you, they dont call you stupid, they always excited to see you...whats love when loyalty is the golden key ❤
People also are able to do these things. Problem is we live in quiet rotten world. We are not able to control ourselfes.
Also dont think that people are bad and animals are good. It all depends on personalities. Animals are also able to do cruel things (even for pure fun), they are animals just like we are.
Lol
!!!!!!!!
😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
So cute 😍😍
OH my goodness this is one sweet kitty. Those baby chickens were like this fur is warmer than mommy chicken..lol. The look on the Mommy hens face when she saw her babies...oh the betrayal ❤❤😅😅😅😅😅😅
I think, that gorgeous little cat should be nominated MOTHER OF THE YEAR>
Wow nice vedio chicks are happy with cat but not at all going to her mother Hen after comes ❤❤
That's a sweet and well fed cat.
I did not think things this adorable could happen in real life.
What a beautiful 🤩 story with A Happy 😃 Ending!
This is overload cuteness. They are all so fat, furry, soft, and cute 🤣❤️🤗
Aweee these buddies are adorable. The chicks just cuddle up with their furry buddy. But he lets their mom cuddle with them and just hangs out peacefully together…
Too cute 😆🥰
This "family" brings a Smile to my face every day 😅😅😅😅
The hen knows that the little chicks will keep warm with the cats and not mind . Hairball and the other cats are the most gentle cats i've seen in my life.
I absolutely adore how the cat tenderly begins grooming them; it's such a heartwarming and endearing moment that fills me with joy.
Kitties' bellies are SO warm and soft! THAT'S ADORABLE! BLESSED 🐝...
2:21 that kind of entry she gave 🤣🤣🤣
Every move these cats make is beyond cute; I can’t take my eyes off them! 🥰
I love this. The chicks eventually wanted a warm place to nap and started cozying up around the cat. So cute.
The cat is simply gorgeous!
Chickies get cold. Cat is warm.
I love how the cat lays down play
fullfy in bliss next them at first.
She's done this before.
Lol

This cat is amazing !🐈🐤 He must be the reincarnation of a «Great Sage» ! How it warms the heart to see all this tenderness 🤗😻
This cat is so smart and loving😅 the chicks are looking for warmth. " I don't have feathers to warm all of you, I have a warm heart with lo t s of kisses "
My 1st cat was a warrior, but trusted her daughter to babysit her next round of kittens when she needed her breaks.
That was the most independent cat I've ever known. I'm leaving out a lot of examples why
The most fascinating part for me is the how the carnivorous predator is not seeing them as fluffy little chicken nuggets.
You don’t know that
Mother hormones or trained cat. She will eat them in a week or so. Stop living in disney world.

This cat is kinder and more intelligent than most humans I know! 🤔
Some older and more… rural… humans score lower on emotional intelligence tests than some dogs and horses are able to score. So… we are not doing too good. It’s really not looking great out there

The gentleness she has, and the way the chicks were looking for food from her mouth was the cutest 😍
Gentlest cat I’ve ever seen in my life. 😍
2:47 🤣🤣🤣 hey iam the mom what happened my childrens😂🐤🐤🐣🐣🐥🐓
So sweet. Wish this cat could watch and snuggle my 5 year old son when Mama need a break😂❤.
My cat has never shown interest in a phone in his life and he LOVES this video 😂
Those chicks are so cute❤❤🐤🐤🐤
Amazing how a natural predator switches roles to be a temporary surrogate mom. This is incredible precious. Please keep this nice stuff coming. We need this kind of thing more than ever to warm our hearts.
