With Good Lock installed, i use the cover display about 70% of the time. Email, WhatsApp, Message, Samsung Health and YT Music all work great. And using the cover display for selfies results in excellent results since you are using the main cameras.

I owned both, got rid of the zflip and kept the motorola. The razr cover screen is so much better than the zflips smart watch widget design. And large cover screen actually does make a difference especially if you need more real estate for poorer eyesight. I listened to tons of reviews and was scared to buy the razr thinking the cameras were so poor that they were unsuable..Sure glad i did not listen. I guarantee most users of this phone will be perfectly fine with the pictures they take. I was.

coming from an iphone 13 pro max and being apple the last 14 yrs this razr has been the most amazing change of pace. i had rly been naive toward android and this phone overall has astounded me. the caneras for anyone concerned are just fine and honestly have better stock filters which for sm1 who uses picsart as well as lightroom and other apps for adjustments and fx , ive found them very fun and useful in getting a few steps of workflow done real quick. theres not a discernable enuf difference for me between the camera sets if you ad efx u have tons of compression bo natter what by the time u post it isnt too important imo. if you are bored of apple and want something that makes getting a new phone fun again for the first time , switch to a razr and i promise you have fun discovering new features every day

Neither one is the best one. They both have things that are good and bad. It's a personal preference. I prefer the motorola even though the camara supposedly isn't as good as the Samsung but that's not a deal breaker for me. The Samsung you get more updates, again not a deal breaker. I don't intend keeping it for more than 3 years so that doesn't bother me. I liked the Motorola from day 1 and no amount of comparison videos would put me off it.

Great unbiased review. My biggest issue with these flip phones is the massive LCD failure rates. I've had 2 z flip 3's over the past 20 or so months and they both failed with similar failures after about 9-10 months. Fortunately the failure came within one year of purchase, so I had the first replacement come free (although a bit of a headache updating a new phone). But even though Samsung tried to replace my lcd for $250, it was a pathetic attempt that took nearly 3 weeks, the bevels on the screen were damaged, and the phone only lasted a mere 2 hours before the screen failed once again. I suggested they upgrade me to the Z flip 5 for $500 (on top of the $250 I spent for repair) and they said they;d get back to me. I doubt they will. So I'm going to try out the Motorola.

I believe IP52 better than IP X (nothing) 8 cuz both are water resistant ( It's okay if I don't dive into the pool with my phone) but Motorola has dust resistant too which is so important! We all know what happened with previous flips... Razr is iconic and original flip phone. I love the sleek design not bulky. And majority of specs moto is one step ahead, however all reviewers say " we don't see that much difference in daily use". I'm in the same boat. My z flip 5's screen completely became unresponsive 2 days after my cat scratched my screen. The only screen that worked was my cover screen 😐 I traded in my z flip 3 (the screen would also randomly become unresponsive & had green lines after 8 months) for this 5 not even 3 months ago and it's already broken. I'm super disappointed that I've had 2 z flips already broken within 1 year! I don't want to pay $216 to send in the phone to Samsung for 10-12 business days just for them to replace the screen & it most likely break again. So, I just bought the Razr 2023 (not the Ultra) instead since I still wanted a foldable and we'll see how it goes! I'm so done with Samsung.

Well, not that my opinion matters to anyone other than me, I'm looking at this a bit differently. If performance is an issue, the moto plus I've seen have a 133 mhz refresh not 120 at least it's what the phone shows when checked. Larger screen in and out. More functionality of the outer screen should be paramount, since this is a flip. If not, then why the hell buy a flip if you're using it open most of the time. And 4 yrs of software? Who the hell cares. 92 percent of people, based on average, keep their phones 2 yrs at best. If you need a great digital camera, buy one, this is a phone. I see them both used every day, durability of outside screen and hinge continuity of the moto is superior. Heat from the battery is far less from the moto even after extended use. Charge time is faster, 30 watt vs 25. Antenna receptivity tests show better real world connectivity in distance as well as reception in both cellular and wifi applications and since the premise of a phone is to actually communicate with others, might be considered as well. Samsung may build a better TV than Motorola but they don't build a "better" phone. Wait, that's right, how stupid of me...Motorola is a telecommunications company first from the beginning... Samsung is a TV builder.

Pathetic compared to moto's clean ui with apps that are actually needed and useful.

From what I can tell, Samsung's brightness algorithm adjusts the contrast significantly when outdoor mode is triggered. Indoors or out of direct sunlight, the display dims to its "normal" peak brightness and contrast curves (they crush the blacks/dark colors for extra legibility) are set to their factory settings.

Yesterday's Apple Event highlights how relatively boring they've become.... though tbf, there's not a lot you can do nowadays with a basic slab-type phone. I've moved to the ZED Flip 5 but also still have my iPhone 13 Pro Max. I was waiting to see what they had to offer before deciding what to do with regards to trading-in....I won't be!
I agree with your assessment of the cover screen experience on the Flip 5...it's not the best (yet), but knowing Sammy, you just know they're working on it. Software updates will hopefully improve that aspect, but when the phone is in the opened-up state, it's the usual Samsung polished experience and tbh, the cover screen (for me) is just something to flick through to see if it needs to be opened up for anything _more_ than just the basic notification confirmations or expansions.

I swapped my S22 Ultra for the Flip 5, what can I say, I absolutely love it, yes there is no zoom lens, yes the camera is a bit of a downgrade, but hey 99% of time I took 12 megapixel photos with the Ultra alsoand used 90% of the time the normal and wide lens. So I think it is quite OK, as for some saying that it is twice the size when folded is absolute rubbish, it's almost the same thickness. I agree with the flip you have to cut some corners, but in my point of view, it's definitely worth it. Let's see how long it lasts, that is my only concern. I used the S22 Ultra from the launch, I have questions for this one, but to be honest I am hopeful.

I think it definitely has more features than my previous razr, however being nitpicky I'm coming across a few issues.
It's almost too big for my hands and uncomfortable to hold, however at the same time the three button navigation is way too small and I can't seem to adjust it. Thirdly, the font defaults are really ugly and bother my eyes but I can't seem to be able to change the font by downloading my own. Overall... I'll live.

I think the Razr is the better flip phone and Samsung needs a lot of catching up to do. It is just a better all rounder and bigger front screen the fact any app can work, better battery life, the tactile feel of the Razr in the hand. I moving to the Razr from a iPhone 13 mini form factor alone. The camera on the Razr is good. The Samsung was tempting but it is isn’t an improvement over last years model plus too iPhone ish.

Using flip 5 now the front screen is terrible very hard to use because of the bad ui and bad refresh rate. However samsung build quality is really good. Motorola front screen is super awesome compared to flip 5 larger screen and buttery smooth refresh rate makes it super easy to use the front screen, however the build quality is crap lots of creeks here and there.

I got my Razor Ultra for 812€ that is VAT included, a great Black Friday Week deal. The Flip 5 never crossed my mind as the front screen from the Razor is far superior. The camera is very good, I'm a private user and make some pictures, for me it is perfect. The 5 W wireless charge are fine as well. Over night is just is on the charging station and it is full in the morning. Due to the fact that you use over 50% the small front screen, the batterylife is awsome. I haven't noticed any issues because it is a last gen CPU, seriously who would notice?

I'd buy this phone mainly for the outer screen usability, and there the Motorola wins hands down. Full stop. Cameras on both are rather really bad, and as for 4 year updates in probably going you change in 3 years or less so Motorola wins again and again. Yeah samsung is good, but i want and need this phone for compact outer screen. Motorola can run almost any app on the outer screen but Sammy is really limited to only a few widgets. Motorola is getting my money this time. Roll on the RAZR

-Custom gestures should enable users to enter text, perform music, or play console/PC quality games
-Each screen should be a combination of LCD, translucent LED, and epaper displays
-Modules should be supported, even if only on the part with no screen, for example:
*A refreshable Braille display (even if just one character)
*A magnetic/body heat charger that works through waterproof cases
*A camera/projector (even if not the solid-state optical phased array kind)
    *A solid-state thermal and/or directional speaker
-Support for arm/wrist straps/tool bracelets may be better off built in

@@dado380 sure but it comes for a cost of battery life and much worse cameras and older chip and less software updates. Those are a lot of sacrifice for a tiny screen to have 120 hrz. Really not a big deal it doesn't has it. U use the inner screen way more anyway. So I really don't see the issue. These videos sound like ads for Apple devices, but often fail to acknowledge that many "new" iOS features have been available on Android for years. With an Android, there really is very little limitation in what you can do given the time and energy to learn your options and take advantage of them. Everything on my Android devices is fully automated, including my keyboard shortcuts and predictions, and I use quick gestures rather than icons to do everything. The result is that using Android is much faster and easier than using an Apple device, and the time savings are significant - not to mention that my devices look great and the customizations are wholly unique. My business generates more income with Android because of these time savings - and my employees are happy with their own unique personalization on their devices. No one who has experienced these benefits of Android would switch to iOS simply because it isn't worth the additional time input Apple devices require (and time really is money), but also because of the associated aggravations and frustration. This said, though, many people do want a device that is simple and easy to use out of the box, and many are happy when their device looks and functions like those of everyone around them. For these people, and others who lack vision and creativity, Apple fulfills a need.
