- We travel from Slovenia to Vienna and make our way to our hotel, but we were in for a surprise. Vienna is a great city to visit, but don't make the mistake I made.

If you like the new editing style, you have my girlfriend Nati to thank. She’s been working hard on these European videos. I would never be able to put out such good quality. And these are her very first videos she’s ever edited. So if you enjoyed them, let her know in the comments, I’m sure she would enjoy reading them. 😊
Wow very nicely edited, for being her first couple of videos…..goes to show that with dedication you can make quality content
@@Javier-mk1jj thank you! Yes, she actually enjoys sitting for hours and editing down all the content. Took this video from 6hrs of footage down to what it is now.
So nice to see you enjoying your vacations and sharing your passion which is making video’s together 💪🏼
Well done Nati !
Guau ! Estaba a punto de decirle a mi esposa que los videos de David desde Europa están muy bien hechos, de verdad has hecho un gran trabajo!! Sigue así 🙌
You said you dint known. But At 21:30 when you show the add on your phone. It says right there, "shared apartment " duh!
Indeed, showed up an enormous "shared" there.
David, when you entered that dark building, the movie "HOSTEL" (2005) popped into my mind . . . I was waiting for the guys outside to say, "We're here for the Meat Cutters Convention."
Haha true!!
😂😂😂😂😂
Trains - the classical way of travelling and seeing Europe. And dining on while travelling, with the landscape passing by
today it can be cheaper to fly because taking trains is rather expensive in europe
The sink in the staircase is the so called "Bassena" and dates back from the times when people had no water in their appartements. So they had to get all their water from this place, which was also the meeting place from the habitants. Each floor has/had such a "Bassena" and ONE toilet for all peole living on this floor.
Your style is organic. Love the way you are making those videos ❤
Thank you! Happy you like the style 😃
You deserve way more views. Great videos as always 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Que nota que Nati le esta poniendo sabor a la situacion co la edicion de videos. Big ups to her parce!😎👍
Hey David? Thanks for the tour! Loved it! Never been there so glad you took us along. God bless be safe. OMG! I would of left!
Glad you enjoyed it
I really enjoyed that train ride bro! The editing was certainly different to what I'm used to for you!
I'll keep on popping in from time to time to tell you, next time you're in Medellin let's grab a beer lol
My mother in law has been here visiting us in Laureles area and we were surfing TH-cam while the little one was sleeping and we watched your video where you and Nati went to this amazing AirBnb in the mountains. Now I'm searching for something similar for when my kids come to visit from the US.
Keep doing your thing, crazy Texan! All the best in Europe!
Thank you! That was a fun video!
The train system is absolutely amazing David the giggling in the background trying to figure things out at the hotel had me smiling and laughing thanks for sharing David
Haha! It was a fun experience figuring it all out.
That was a funny way of getting to an apartment. When I was in Vienna we never saw our hosts it was all codes as well.
Only way to get around Europe by train is with a Eurail Pass. Pay for the upgrade to first class because it is pretty cheap that way. So much nicer that way. Plus for a small fee you can take highspeed rail between countries where available. I did that on a 2 week going Germany, Netherlands, France, Switzerland, and Italy. So much better than anytime flying in the US and infinitely better than rental cars and you doing the driving.
@21:30 it showed "SHARED APARTMENT" David. Step your Hotel budget 🏨 game up! Especially with Nati by your side. Enjoy your vacation.
Bien trabajo nate gracias tambien es bien verte well doneDavid
These new episodes are brilliant! Hola Nati :)
Happy you liked them! Nati did all the editing and we really enjoyed making them together. 🤗
@@LifewithDavid Fantastic! Ella necesita hablar más.. Vamos Nati
Life with David and Nati lol... I hear the bells....
I really laughed at some of the stuff.. Very good to you two
@somthingsimplefull more to come from this euro trip. ☺️
Europeans eat to live , not live to eat. Different mindset, hence they also live healthier and longer lives
lol I have the same experience in Bogota my friend from colombia helped me get another place to stay
Freeze @ 5:49 and print into a photo frame! Enjoying your travels :-)
Im glad you're doing good david , your content is always kegit .keep safe
I also had issues with maps and data when in Vienna and Budapest back a few months ago.
Good tip about the bed bugs 👍
Bed bugs are not fun.
Loving the new form of content. What camera are you using? Looks awesome man!
Thanks man. Osmo
You should consider downloading an offline map of the place you’re about to visit
all it takes is a few low star ratings and airbnb will remove the property and suspend the airbnb host for falling below their standards. airbnb are pretty strict with hosts.
@16:00 cue the music to Jaws! At least it's only for 2 nights! OMG on the hotel your stayed out.
I wouldn’t generalise all of Europe as safe. It looks like you are in a good area. I’m from the UK and travelled all over Europe. There are many places that make Colombia look tame.
From what I saw, a lot of Eastern and central Europe seems pretty safe. I may be wrong
@@LifewithDavid I would generally agree. Everything is getting a lot worse worst in the last 3-4 years. The migrant crisis along with other culture changes has made many places a lot worse now. Partly why I’ve left to Colombia haha
Makes sense
@@davidbetts1180 It got worse even here in Czechia with ukrainian refugee crisis, but it's still fine. Problem is that a lot of russian gangsters moved here and pretend they are ukrainian refugees + many other eastern europeans used that oppurtunity too. There are Bulgars now + Romanians and a lot of other peopel who are mostly street scammers and speak "some kind of Russian" and I am pretty sure they are not Ukrainian refugees.
Another great video where not to stay eh😅 as for trains nice to know costs re food on them
Cheers
The blue dot 🔵 haha 🤣 that's my strategy as well.
😂
Great job Nati
Always enjoy watching your videos but did I miss something? what happened to mexico, I thought you was over there filming? went to the comments of the last videos but see no mention of what happpened
There is a chain of clean efficient hotels in Europe called IBIS. I stay in the same one in Paris, every time I visit. They are clean, always accessible through rail and bus, and safe access to Wi-Fi.
We love ibis, should have stayed there.
Totally agree. I always check if there is an IBIS before booking anything.
Great video quality. What vlog camera please.
Wow! You went alot farther into that building than I would have. You are right, it looked like a horror movie. And the black guy always gets killed first in the classic horror movies. LOL
Ohh, that seems familiar! Ridiculous check in / false advertising.. Had a few of those experiences in Spain last summer :)
Props to Nati, better than the How To Expat videos ever where 😂.
That's why I prefer to stay in traditional hotels where you know you have always your room and your bathroom. When you stay in pension or hostel, you never know.
I agree
I would never think of not being safe anywhere. I grew up in Hungary, live in Budapest. It's interesting to see you doubting people coming by on the street at night :) I like your videos!! btw the prices almost doubled around here, since the Russian - Ukraine war. ( we have the most corrupt government in all Europe :( )
I am from Ljubljana and I lived in Vienna for a year where I met a beautiful Colombian girl that I should marry back then. I can say that Vienna was much safer than Ljubljana 5 years ago when I lived there.
Please go to Croatia and Serbia, David please. You do a really good job with these videos😎
Thank you! And in a future trip for sure.
Yes man, if they find you without a ticket, then either you pay on the spot with a fine, and if you cant pay, you have to leave the train at the next station
So now Airbnb's are faking it to be hotels to survive? Nice vid and edits! What camera are you using? Are you using a mic?
normal airbnb xD it never looks like on the pictures, they take them before opening the place, so prob. 5 years ago or something
Sorry to see that wasn't a great place to stay. It's maybe possible the front door locks at night and requires a key then. Thanks for the good video though!
Happy you enjoyed it. 🤗
These buildings were nice when they were built a century ago. The problem seems to be that this was the last time this place saw any renovations. Knowing the regulations in Vienna, I'm not even sure that it was legal for them to rent this apartment to you.
It was sketchy…
I was in Spain and Portugal ,Hungary - airbnbs were a nightmare, also booking, cancellations payment went thgrough but not really registered, check outs at 8am and check in at 4pm, quest game to find keys, i raised disputes by phone and email and got refunds but not 100% always, it took me weeks sometimes. They just rip off both hosts and customers. Especially in Madrid ,Lisbon and Porto . 0 control and sometimes 100% automation led to a disaster. What is wrong that most ppl do not complain otherwise they go belly up. Just use hotels or guest houses on original websites -its CHEAPER.Or book 1 night and search on foot.
That place looks like a nightmare. Glad you survived. I never saw that side of Vienna and I hope I never do. Going back in a few months. For myself, after some hard lesson learned from traveling, just stick to reputable names. Even if you pay more (not saying you were cheap). Rental cars from start up places, for example. If something is very much cheaper than the competition, pass.
Post the name of the hotel, and in which district. Others may not want to make the same mistake.
The directions for the Airbnb wasn’t a clue to CANCEL ? 😛
The description “ shared “ apartment was the giveaway. 😂
When I traveled solo through Western Europe back in those long lost days of 1981. While in Copenhagen I bought a discount train ticket for Innsbruck, Austria. At the last hour, I walked up to a man and asked him if he could translate the schedule? He read the cities involved, and then explained that the train briefly went into what was then East Germany, and then back into the West. The East German border guards would then check your passports. Problem was, I was in the Canadian Military, and it was forbidden to cross into a Warsaw Pact Country on threat of being charged with espionage. I nearly $ fainted as I was nineteen years old. When I explained it to him, he just looked at me with a worried glance and said go now and change your ticket quickly, and I did. True Story
Crazy times back then.
Maybe front door is left unlocked in the day, then someone locks it at night?
Sorry you got jacked on the air bnb brother. This is why I only stay at recognized hotels.
Hey David, when is the first episode of your Mexican TV series being released?
Hopefully end of the year or early next. A lot of set backs on set unfortunately
its an airbnb not a hotel! its like that alot with airbnbs around the wolrd
The thing with safety in europe depends on the country and the city. Vienna has problematic districts with many migrants from the middle east where I would not go, but even there you can always be lucky. Compared with Colombia I think we do not have reached that level yet.
Hi David
✌️👁️ smashed 🔨 the LIKE 🔘✅💯
I recommend using Trip Advisor instead. If you see a place with a lot of good reviews, try to filter the selection to the bad reviews only and see what they say. You already know there's plenty of good reviews, you want to know what the bad reviews say.
I’ll try that in the future
David relax. Austria is safe everywhere. Welcome to europe. But the apartment was a flop. That's a shame.
Big flop 🤦🏻♂️😂
I would find a cheap hotel than an airBB of this caliber. Lesson learned.
Yup! Never using that website again.
Will you come to western Austria too?
Not on this trip unfortunately. In the future though for sure.
I must have missed it, what happened to David's TV show deal??
On vacation, will hopefully finish filming the 1st season in a few months
@@LifewithDavid Thanks for the update! Have Fun! Nice Editing!
The whole hotel scene is the reason why I ALWAYS, ALWAYS travel with minimum of $2,500 reserve. Usually I have $5,000 reserve.
I could not stay in a place like that. Ain't no way!!!!
WOW ..what a let-down!! Some friendly advise if I may, don't just put "a complaint in" , you have to be super persistent with AirBnB. I've spent the last 2 years travelling (Colombia and Mexico por casualidad) and I cant count the times I had similar experiences aka photos don"t match reality ;((. In any case AirBnB continually will try and pass the buck or they'll tell you they are passing your case to "a supervisor"... In the end they just try and wear the customer down, and then maybe after days of disputing they will offer half your refund. Don't give up, thats what they want, STAY PERSISTANT and you will win!!
Mucha Suerte und viel glück in Östreich ;)
...Sabaneta eye patch guy
People get fooled in europe all the time. Europe was built many years ago and has not updated it since. This is why most places are labelled charming, not modern.
That wouldn't happen in medellin..Check el poblado to see how different airbnb are, welcome to first world lol
😂
This video was so great. This is reality sometimes. Do you think you'll get a refund?
Thank you! Nope! I’m sure they are used to ignoring complaints.
I think that you got a taste of real Vienna Sausage (sorry bro) I suppose most of us learn as we go.
Aww man 💀💀
Oh man that hotel is properly bad haha
Super sketchy!
That’s not a hotel…
The colors and models of the furniture comparing the pic to reality are not the same. That is not the same room, wall nor bed.
Nati is doing a great job! My question is, are you gaining weight David? Eres un poco mas panzón, no? 😂
She is! And yes, I gained a ton of weight in Mexico. In process of dropping now.
It said "shared" on the ad. You duped yourself.
David you’ve been in Mexico to long now your go to drink is Coke 😂
True! 😂
It is so clean and amazing unlike England and US that doesn't clean up the streets.
You should move there then
Super clean, even in the “bad” part of town.
@@MegaBISPdumb ass comment
Are you saying that no streets in the entire US are clean?
Not that they don't clean it up, the people just don't litter as much
Be careful, my dude. Introducing someone to different countries introduces them to different "exchange rates."
I don't get it. Explain please
You have latin paranoia walking around in Europe..Austria is generally pretty safe. Please distinguish between a hotel and an Air B&B. ...just seeing the neighbourhood makes it look like not a nice area.
Why you hate Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Croatia? You didn't want to visit for some reason?!
We didn’t have time on our trip. But definitely plan to go in the future.
@@LifewithDavid Thank you! All the best
report the place for misleading and airbnb will suspend the ad and the persons account for terms of service
It was on hotel.com. I’ll see if I can report them there.
@@LifewithDavid more like hotel from hell dot com :D
@Black-Circle 😂
Melania Trump is from Slovenia 🇸🇮
the graffiti is cool.
Open borders in the Americas? Have you lost your mind?
Very bad you brought your lady to Europe and bad hotel. jk
Haha for sure! She’s tough though and we’ve stayed in worst. Wish I was doing TH-cam during those times. 😂
Dude that's awful
Spoiler alert: At the end of the trip David asks Nati to marry her. And she says YES..... 😄😄😄
