  • Join me as I spend the night in one of the world's most iconic hotels in Dubai -Inside The Burj Al Arab which is laced with 24-carat gold standing tall at 321 metres as the world’s tallest all-suite hotel, the iconic Burj Al Arab redefines and hosts a modern take on Arabian luxury. Located on a private island, let's find out if it's worth the hype!
The Burj Al Arab is a five-star hotel, with the highest official ranking. While the hotel is sometimes erroneously described as "the world's only 'seven-star' hotel"
The hotel owns a fleet of Rolls-Royce Phantoms and you can arrive by helicopter landing on the helipad located on the 28th storey. (This video is NOT Sponsored by The Burj Al Arab

Dubai to me can be compared to a plastic flower.
Also, if a hotel has the gall to call itself anything higher than 5* (which, in global rating systems means nothing) I wouldn’t expect the following:
    - A charge for snacks and soft drinks from the mini bar.
    - No comp airport transfer
    - being told ‘no’ when asking to look at the facilities.
    - Seeing poolside loungers crammed together.
    - Decor that hasn’t been updated much in 20 years

Agreed. I think it’s overrated. Cool building though! The mark of true luxury is that when you pay that much, things usually aren’t nickel and dimed. That’s one of the differences between Spirit airlines and Emirates first class- no one expects to get on it and need to ask if each thing costs extra. The fact that he had to keep asking.. 😅. Another mark of high luxury is that nothing about it should give you any suspicion of low quality. Just like I wouldn’t buy a birkin bag and see inconsistent or flawed stitching, this kind of room shouldn’t have gold finishes on one side, and ratty, over worn, stained appliances in the other.

I love the fact that we have 'ordinary' blokes like Tim giving us the real tour without the unnecessary bs that we're otherwise spoon-fed with when it comes to places like this.
I know this world has all kinds and that some are so occupied with the luxurious lifestyle that they can't see beyond it.
For me personally I can definitely appreciate beauty.
But when it comes to luxury it only gets to a certain point until I just don't care anymore.
At the end of the day even the most expensive high-end exclusive meal you could ever eat has turned into literal shit.
And that's sort of the point, no matter how hard you try luxury isn't sustainable.
It can perhaps be enjoyed for a few hours but then what?
Do I actually get happier knowing that the handle I used to open the door costs 400 pounds rather than 40, or when adding things up it really doesn't matter?!
All this being said, I've seen the Burj Al Arab from the beaches outside and now Tim has showed us what the inside looks like.
    I'm good.
    And thank you!

I’d worry about accidentally adding another thousand dollars on my bill by using the wrong items in my room if it came with extras that you had to pay for.
A million tiny, extravagant courses for meals have never appealed to me. Make my stay pretty, comfortable, delicious, and fun and I’ll be delighted! I’ll enjoy myself more if I don’t feel like I have to pretend I’m fancy.

The irony of this documentary is that the presenter bluffed his way through a lot of things, guessing how this works, and wondering what that was, when all that he had to do, literally, was to press one little button, and a butler would appear to explain everything and to make it simple and easy for him and then for the rest of us. I had the pleasure of staying here for a while a number of years ago. Apart from some of the furnishings the rooms are still exactly the same. If you add up all the free goodies you get, Hermes toiletries, chocolates, a decent bottle of wine per night etc the actual cost is not too bad. The architecture is stunning and the service excellent. There used to be a massive fountain spray on the water area with the little water jets, (they are supposed to represent fish) which used to shoot up and then cascade down with minimum splash. The underground seafood restaurant was great, you reached it via a small pretend submarine, the only problem being as you tuck into your fish, one of its brothers is looking at you through the glass. If you go to the beach, a buggy will take you there and when you come out of the water you get drinks and lavender scented towels given to you. It's nice to do it once.

The food was mediocre and cold. Who needs all that gold and glitz? The TV didn't work. The place was empty. You go there and support an Islamic state, knowing that women and children are oppressed, but they provide tons of alcohol, so you're impressed. I'd like to know just how clean those furnishings really are. The phones should be clean, but maybe they have a nice clean sound, because older phones are often better functioning than new ones. Overall impression? I'd expect better accommodations in a mid range hotel. Between houses, I spent a month in a Red Roof Inn for less than $100 a night. I could have my pets with me, the service was warm and personable. A complimentary breakfast was provided in the dining area, the food was hot, surprisingly good, there was quite a variety and they served it for hours and hours. I also spent weeks at a Radisson hotel and it was lovely. It cost a little more, but still very reasonable. Some people think that the more they spend, the better the service, but it's not necessarily so.

Okay, just watched your review of the Plaza in New York. These two rooms are very nearly the same price but are absolutely not on the same level. To even pretend both of these are world-class is a joke. This is what I expect from a room at $1900 USD a night. The Plaza seems like an expensive historical educational experience, like taking a day trip on a 200-year-old sailing ship. The Burj Al Arab seems like a genuine luxury experience.

Mirrors are an essential part of 1980's love motels. In fact it remained very popular within that branch to this day. I think that is the kind of charm that makes the Emirates so unique, they have a slight gravitation towards 80's kitsch, like: the coiled cord phones & intercoms, the old-fashioned seca scales and highly overpriced minibar items... (500ml Coca Cola costs between 3.50 and 4.75 AED and on the list they were charging 45.-)

I think that was quite cheap considering the luxury, the attention to detail was exquisite, the cleanliness was incredible, the finishes are stunning, the pools, the grounds, the beach, all of it is beyond beautiful.
The bedding, furnishings, thick towels and all the homely complimentary essentials such as slippers and toiletries, they really thought of everything. The food also looked incredible. Like you, maybe not all of the dishes are my thing, but the presentation, quality and freshness of the ingredients looked world class.
Honestly, for what is included, such as the pools, changing rooms, spa, gym, the perfect beach accessable via your own golf cart driver, the valet parking, the 24-hr personal butler, how beautifully presented all the staff are, the sun deck, the design inside and out, the bottles of water, towels and lotions on standby for relaxing outside, the amenities, the comfort of the suite and bathrooms to cater to any mood or need... OUTSTANDING amount of service and value for the cost, I thought.
Considering some hotels here are £200-£300 a night and they're "not all that" even though they like to blag that they are, the price and what you get for that price is phenomenal. Now don't get me wrong, £1,500 is more than I'd pay for a fortnight away from home, because I'm skint! 😂
I'm a simple girl who is more than happy in a Haven Park caravan for a week...although I AM very particular about the accommodation being clean...and I WILL check! But I enjoy the atmosphere of being around people who can only afford one holiday a year perhaps, that's value for money, because they are SO intent on enjoying themselves. I love to see ordinary everyday people who don't get the opportunity to go away whenever they want, so they really make the most of it when they do.
Plus the smells and sights of the English seaside are so nostalgically happy for me. The salty crispy windswept hair, the slight sun tightness on your skin at the end of the day, the amusement arcade machines, the laughter, the seagulls, the smell of coconut sun lotion as people walk past, the ice cream, vinegar from fish and chips, hotdogs, hot doughnuts, music playing, children laughing and squealing, the naff but irresistible souvenirs and trinkets, sticks of rock, black fingers from handling all those 2p coins on the machines - trying to win a cheap plastic bit of tat keyring. 🤣 I just LOVE THAT!
And as luxurious as that hotel is, it does not provide that. It may be a rich / poor divide perhaps, but I have no desire to be on the rich side of the middle. I wouldn't mind a few more quid than I have, but only so I wouldn't have to worry about bills. I'd imagine a luxury hotel like that to attract snobs, and / or pretentious twats who live life through Instagram! Constantly jiggling their boobs on camera or posing in bikinis on the beach. Not celebrities, but people who think they pretty much are celebrities. "Models" allegedy... 😅
Nah I couldn't be doing with idiots like that around me! I don't advocate an unhealthy lifestyle, however, I'd far rather look at a lady with a bit of a belly and some stretch marks on her buttocks, while she gazes adoringly at her chubby tot on her lap. To me, she is beautiful and her body is beautiful for the miracle it performed. I'd rather see men with rough hands and nails, because he's a hard worker who can build or create with his hands, and a slight belly because he's relaxed in his skin and not out to impress anyone. If he's gazing lovingly at his wife and child too, that makes him so attractive and desirable. (Not that I'm chasing anyone else's husband just to be clear! No way! A cheater is ugly no matter how handsome they are!)
I'd rather be amongst ordinary good people, who make the most of what they have, are happy with the people in their lives, and make the most of every opportunity to find enjoyment and fun in any situation...rather than rich pretentious idiots who expect the best of everything, because they believe anything less is an insult to their own sense of worth, and look for things to complain about!
That's just me! This was fascinating, and of course exquisite, but I'd feel so out of place. The staff all appeared to be lovely, but I doubt the guests are a bundle of fun! The part I loved the most was the handwritten card from the manager, that almost got a tear falling! That was so sweet. The way they went out of their way to welcome you, cater to your every need and nothing was too much trouble for them to look after you was the best part of all.

We went for dinner there in the restaurant at the top. There was live piano and a singer, and the food was good, but ultra small portions. But for the experience of visiting and seeing the hotel, it was all worth it. We stayed at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel in an Ocean suite with a massive balcony overlooking the Burj Al Arab, and we could sit outside and watch the light shows that lit up that hotel all evening. We loved it so much we went on holiday there three times in total. Prices have rocketed though and we'd need to win the pools to go back! Big downside for me - staff were verging on disrespectful to women. The butler at our hotel was all over my husband, but totally ignored me and didn't even hold the door open for me after holding it for my husband. It literally swung back in my face! All talk at the front desk was directed to my husband. They didn't even make eye contact with me. It was really noticeable, and something i've not experienced anywhere else in the world...and I've travelled a lot.

It looks really nice and Jumeirah Hotels (the brand, not the Dubai area) are excellent. However, we stayed at the Jumeirah Dar al Masyaf Hotel which is part of the Jumeirah Madinat Resort, which consists of 4 separate hotels, right next to the Burj Al Arab. We had an excellent room in a villa that consisted of only 10 rooms or so, also with a dedicated concierge. We had a package deal that included flight, transfer, half board and 5 nights for less than what one night at the Burj would cost.
The resort has a huge number of restaurants and we could choose one each night for dinner. Two of them were All-You-Can-Eat buffets. Another nice perk was free entry to the Wild Wadi Water Park next door and they had a free shuttle to the Mall of the Emirates, where we could transfer to the Metro, saving on taxi costs.
    I really can recommend it!

Really takes me back as i worked for the company who designed the Interior and one of my very first jobs out of Uni was to do countless cad drawings of various parts of the place. Must say its looking very dated now from a trained design eye but it has been a while! Really takes me back to that style of interiors that was cool back then for that region

I'm surprised they didn't give you a free stay or a discount! Quite new to this channel and this genre, so thought I'd voice my opinion. I've seen so many videos recommended on YT and other platforms that feed so much bs regarding the luxury lifestyle that led me thinking this would cost tens of thousands.
The whole Dubai hype etc. crossed with seeing shorts/reels of expensive hotels... It genuinely made me so detached from reality with those types of videos. I'm so glad I subbed to you earlier and then saw this video because you gave a fair and real view with your opinions and experience as someone that isn't ultra wealthy. This is what makes you unique, because I have never come across this sort of content before.
I imagine there are dozens of videos uploaded about this particular hotel and other hotels with a similar reputation to social media platforms, but how many of those videos actually give a true and honest view of them? Probably very view because most of them will be paid for by the hotel owners themselves.

New here! Great review, what an amazing room! I think my favorite part was the bath tub and the view, holy cow! I feel like there are so many extras or ‘complimentary’ things that I would have been confused as to what was complimentary and what wasn’t. And the kettle/phones? Some of the electronics did seem cheap or as if they could’ve done better when it came to that, but the architecture is just amazing! You can truly see all the details they did put into the designs. Also I think it was a jewelry box by the hair dryer. Although I’ll never stay here I feel like it’s definitely something you can check off your bucket list!!
