Toby Keith is an American patriot from my home state of Oklahoma! Let me tell you how much he loves his country and it’s a bit of a story but stick with me. I joined the Oklahoma Army National Guard in 2000. In 2004 my Guard unit was activated to go to Afghanistan. About six months in Toby and Ted Nugent were doing tours to raise troop morale. I was stationed at Camp Phoenix in Kabul. They were supposed to a big show in Bagram Airbase and only do a meet and greet with us. When he got off the bird at Camp Phoenix and met our Brigade Commander he saw our Thunderbird patch and realized we were his fellow Okies. He got on the horn with Bagram and told them they were gonna have to wait another day because he was spending the evening with his Okies. Some of our guys has their families ship over their guitars and amps because they’re all songwriters. We pulled a flatbed truck into the center of our base and Toby and Ted got up their under spotlights and sang all of their greatest hits including this song. After they played til nearly midnight they stayed and took pictures and signed autographs until every last one of us had one without complaint. You don’t realize just how much a simple handshake from someone who didn’t have to come and see us when we’re in the midst of the most difficult time of our lives. And I served in Afghanistan with an entire unit of Brits. The storied Green Howards stood shoulder to shoulder with us in combat. I lost 14 of my brothers in Afghanistan who I couldn’t be more proud of them for paying the ultimate price. People talk about not being able to give up their safety to serve. You’d be surprised. I was 23 in the year 2000 when I joined. I had all but about thirty credits to finish my Bachelors degree. I finished my degree but I was part of the new version of the National Guard where we deployed as often as the active duty guys. I’m a proud American Veteran and proud of the men who served on my left and my right. Thank you for tolerating my story.
Toby Keith is a true American who lives his story. He entertains our troupes with Anthemic music that rallies them together and gives them a few hours of feel good, down home music. Americans have always been proud, well we're having trouble but hopefully it will get better. I love Toby's music . Great reaction Thx 😎
This song makes my hair stand up. It played in every stadium In The USA after 9/11. We had so much pride back then. Isn't it awful that I would rather be in 2012 than today...
This has been my favorite song by Toby Keith for such a long time. I actually started to shed tears just listening to this song. Rest in peace Toby Keith .
Awesome reaction bud. And as an Army Veteran, thank you for the kind words about us. If you want to see Toby's fun side, check out "I Wanna Talk About Me."
Toby is battling stomach cancer these days, but he’s holding on. I’ve actually spoken with him. He’s entertained our troops for years now, and I simply adore him. Anyway, his brilliant song includes so many of the US’s National symbols. He mentions old glory, our flag, the eagle, our national bird, the Liberty Bell, and The Statue of Liberty. He mentions the 4th of July when we got our independence. When he says,”Uncle Sam,” that’s our military name/code. He’s an icon. He represents all of us who came from all over. My mother was from Wales, and my father is of German descent. Let freedom ring! 😂😛👍👏🏻🙏🏻
Toby Keith is one of the GREATEST country music singers here in the U.S.A... He write this song soon after 9/11 when America came under attack and he made numerous trips over there to where our military was and did shows for them . He wasn't a tank driver, he was riding in one. I LOVE TOBY KEITH AND HIS SONGS ABOUT THIS DAY AND HE IS NOT THE ONLY ANGRY AMERICAN!!! GOD BLESS THE USA AND TOBY KEITH!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
RIP Toby, I have had a heavy heart all day and listening to all of your great songs. You and your music will be missed and will live on forever. You were a great man and a true patriot. You make me cry and smile at the same time, thats a gift. I love you!
This song has always touched me different and means so much to me. Toby Keith is an amazing country singer and an extremely patriotic American, who does a lot of shows around the world with the USO for our troops. I think you'll like his stuff. He has a lot of very entertaining and funny songs that I think you would appreciate. Take a listen to "Red Solo Cup", "How Do You Like Me Know", "Trailerhood", "A Little Too Late", "An American Soldier", "As Good As I Once Was", "I Wanna Talk About Me", "Who's Your Daddy", "Beer For My Horses", just to name a few.
Those who serve in the Military and have to go and fight for our Country are truly heroes. There is no question. They deserve our respect, our appreciation and anything we can do to make their lives better, should be done. Unfortunately many of our politicians put other issues above taking care of our veterans and for that they should be ashamed and disgraced.
I was I think 34 when 9/11 happened.. My youngest son was 13 months. My other 4 children were in school.. we lived 30 miles from Washington, DC.. My husband was on the other side of NSA... our National Security Agency... He couldn't get home... roads shut down... I had to go and get my older 4 children out of school. wondering if a bomb was going to hit.. the worst day of my life. Very blessed.. I got my children home and thankfully .. to this day.. all my children are ok..
Toby Keith is my favorite male vocalist. So many great songs and videos and thankful for his support as a Veteran of our troops and his father’s service and sacrifice. “American Soldier” is another great song. Thanks for the reaction
This man practiced what he preached. He came to play for the troops in theatre several times. It was very meaningful for myself and many others for his performances.
Thank you for playing this song. And thank you for your words I think they are absolutely brilliant! I am an American and I am proud to be an American. And I'm also very blessed because I have friends from all over the world true friends that I know face-to-face to face and can say they're all absolutely amazing. So again thank you so very much for your brilliant words.
I joined the Navy in 2000. I did not do it because I was brave or selfless but, after 9/11 my ship went straight there and we did what we had to do. I came out a patriotic American. Never forget was the motto back then. I feel some have forgotten and I'm happy these videos are out there to remind us. Thanks for the reaction.
Toby Keith has an awesome voice and is very patriotic. Check out his duo with Willie Nelson Beer for My Horses or How do You Like Me Now. That last one will give you a giggle. Really good storyline and video for both of them. He is being treated right now for stomach cancer. Your reactions are always worth watching.
I come from a family of Military Men and Women, lost my first husband in the Vietnam war with my two brothers there. My father was in the Marines and at Iwo Jima, Americans are proud of their Country and our Military families. I love this video seeing the military relaxing and enjoying the song. Glad you liked it. We are a very patriotic Country. I'm married to an Englishman now and he would sit and talk to my dad and brothers prior to them passing away.
I’m a Texan - not a big fan of country music. But I’m a huge fan of Toby Keith. He’s a great musician and a kind, gentle soul. This song makes me cry and stand taller as a US American. It expresses our pain and our anger. Thanks for your reaction and thoughts
Thank you for your support! Let us think of Mr. Toby in our thoughts while he battles cancer, he gave us these great songs that i got to be listening to while i was younger. I know the awards were tonight and i had came in from playing with my dogs and as soon as i heard Blake Shelton sing one of Tobys songs, i just sat down and watched. I sang my heart out! My entire heart goes out to him and his family. Cancer sucks.❤❤ yall stay safe put there❤
We are all the same no matter what country that we currently live. My mothers side is British, Irish and Scottish + Cherokee while my dad was from Germany. I have family all over Europe. My husband is Irish, French and Apache.
You have to be aware Toby had a family but he still performed over 400 USO tours for our troops including one that was attacked during his performance. They took cover and then he went back on stage and completed it. He passed in February this year of cancer. RIP Toby Keith
The song by Daryal Worley, "Have You Forgotten?" Is another good one that was written a number of years after that event, after people started to let go of the importance of the impact of such a historic event.
My first Toby Keith song has a guitar riff that goes 'neener-neener-neener' as if making fun of somebody (and with the lyrics, rightfully so). The song is called 'How Do You Like Me Now?' :D
Thank you. There are two home free vids you need to react to. First is "Proud to be an American" with home free, Lee Greenwood and the U.S. Air Force band singers. This is a must see. Next is "Elvira" with Home Free and The Oakridge Boys. This is absolute magic.
Yes, he has a deep, smooth voice and you can understand every word he sings. It makes it easy to listen to. A lot of singers don't have that. It is a manly voice and makes you sit up and pay attention. Luv it!
Sadly, we just lost Toby😢 He was a very talented singer with the heart of a true patriot. He will be greatly missed. ❤❤ Back when he wrote this song he had just lost his dad & then not long after 9/11 happened. In the beginning, he only played it for our troops. At one such event he was told he really should share it with all of America. I'm so grateful that he did.
Great reaction from someone who not American. He was truly a patriot and someone who did so much for our country. His speaking voice was even more relaxing than his singing voice, you should look up interviews with him in it. It’s absolutely awful we lost him last week.
You need to explore more Toby Keith like Red Solo Cup, Good As I Once Was, Weed With Willie, I Wanna Talk About Me, Beer For My Horses. Also Try Brad Paisley... Waitin On A Woman, Whiskey Lullaby, I'm Gonna Miss Her, She's Everything.
To your statement about being angry, yet calm....Toby Keith appears to be the very epitome of a REAL MAN according to Jordan Peterson: "A harmless man is not a very good man...A Good man is a very, very Dangerous man, who has that danger under voluntary control, civilized, and disciplined...and who can use that in the service of, let's say, a family [or country:)]" Nice reaction🥰
I teach English to people from all countries around the world including Pakistan Iran India Egypt countries I don't even know how to pronounce so that they can go abroad. I do this for free. And I appreciate it and every country has their own crisis. It is saddening to know that. So I agree with everything you said about that. Plus that song it's amazing I love it. And I love you and I watch you all the time I just don't comment. This time I had to.
I love this song! When 911 happened I was so sad for those who lost their lives and their families. I was also mad as hell that someone would attack our country! This song helped me a lot as I could sing it and feel all the feelings I had to deal with. This song and Alan Jackson's song helped so many going through such a terrible thing.
Loved your reaction to this. Ive watched different people from a few different countries and they all have said kind of the same thing... that they feel patriotic even tho theyre not american, so yes, all your ramblings made sense... thx for your insight
Toby never served a day in uniform, he served those who fought in uniform every chance he could where they fought. He brought to them the reminders of home and the pride of the country. He was the voice of their families and communities reminding them that we were proud of them.
I'm 56 years old. I joined the Army in 1987. Turned 21 in basic. November 87, I was in Germany. I left Germany in November 89. Went to Ft. Wherever. 9 months later, I was in Saudi Arabia for Desert Sheild/Desert Storm, spent 9 months there. Got out of the military. 2000, joined back up. 2003-04, found my happy ass back in Iraq. I'd go again if my health were better or if needed.
He traveled to US bases overseas and in war zones to perform for the troops with the USO. Most of the video shows those troops enjoying a bit of home while serving overseas.
It is beautiful seeing our Family over the Pond discover Country Music. You will find, not a lot of breakdown is needed in Country…it’s straight to the point.
I proudly served in the US Marine Corps from 1977-1983. All 5ft 1 1/2in and 117lbs of me. I served as an Expeditionary Airfield Technician, stopping tailhook aircraft using portable(expeditionary) equipment. Mostly at MCAS El Toro, Santa Ana, Ca. and MCAS Futemna, Okinawa, Japan.
One major thing that I say about Toby Keith is how often he also surprised family members of returning service members in the military during his concerts.

I reached out to shake hands and said “sir, I’m a huge fan it’s a honor to meet you.” He shook his head like no and said “no sir, it’s and honor to meet you- I’m just a singer and your here doing the job.” One hell of a guy! He had just released “angry American” and played it it was amazing hearing 50,000 troops going Insane singing along. RIP Toby 🫡🇺🇸
My dad was in the Air Force for 23 years! He fought in Vietnam! One if the BEST human beings to ever walk the face of the earth! I love and MISS YOU Dad!! Yeah! 🇺🇸
Your Dad did something many people never could, takes more bravery than most have to do that! I don't know him but I'm sure he was an amazing man!
My father is a Veteran and so am I
My son is a Captain now
He went in at 18 and Enlisted
5 tours and a Husband and Father of 2
Thank you for your support
🙋♀️✝️💜☮️🇺🇸😊
Thank you for your service x3 !!!
RIP Toby... Truly missed.. To me.. he was the best of country music and also just a great American... His songs hit my heart.. and think it hit all American's in the heart during that time. Very sad we lost him... way too soon... If you want to hear a song to rip your heart out..listen to Toby's last song.
That is one of the best songs that has ever been written. Toby Keith said it all when he wrote this.
The emotion Toby Keith can emote in his music was incredible ❤️ he’ll be missed!!
We lost our dear Toby to cancer this week. God bless Toby.
Toby Keith is a true American who lives his story. He entertains our troupes with Anthemic music that rallies them together and gives them a few hours of feel good, down home music. Americans have always been proud, well we're having trouble but hopefully it will get better. I love Toby's music . Great reaction Thx 😎
Please pray for our Toby as he is being treated for stomach cancer and having a rough time. He has many hits.
This song makes my hair stand up. It played in every stadium In The USA after 9/11. We had so much pride back then. Isn't it awful that I would rather be in 2012 than today...
I love Toby. He's a wonderful guy, an amazing artist, and he has a good sense of humor which you'll see more of as you go through his songs.
This has been my favorite song by Toby Keith for such a long time. I actually started to shed tears just listening to this song. Rest in peace Toby Keith .
RIP Toby! 🕊️ You and your art will be missed!
RIP Toby, I love you and your music will live on forever, you were a great man and a true patriot. I have had a heavy heart all day
This song brings tears to my eyes, a smile to my face. God bless Toby Keith in his fight.
You were a great man
and a true patriot. You make me cry and smile at the same time, thats a gift. I love you!
Sadly he passed away...He was a genuine gift!! Rest in peace brother!!
RIP Toby Keith 😞🙏
Thank you sir for watching TV and understanding.your reactions and comments show !😢❤😢❤
I was I think 34 when 9/11 happened..
Indeed, he should check out American Soldier next.
This man practiced what he preached. He came to play for the troops in theatre several times. It was very meaningful for myself and many others for his performances.
Sorry to say Toby Keith has just passed on. Tragic day in music. He was a brilliant lyricist and talented performer.
Toby's "Taliban Song" is good for a giggle, too!
Always loved this song!! He also has hilarious songs/videos like 'I wanna talk about me' 🤣🤣...💝💞
I’m a Texan - not a big fan of country music. But I’m a huge fan of Toby Keith. He’s a great musician and a kind, gentle soul. This song makes me cry and stand taller as a US American. It expresses our pain and our anger. Thanks for your reaction and thoughts
This song always gives me chills and makes me so proud to be an American. I love Toby. Great reaction
I live 20 miles away from the Towers and remember it well, my son was in High School, after graduation he went and did 2 tours in Iraq.
Cancer sucks.❤❤ yall stay safe put there❤
Another gem from toby is "American soldier" gotta get tissue when I listen to that
This song is Not a theat to Our Allies who fought with our troops side by side with great courage!! And who we thank and Appreciate!!❤❤❤❤❤❤
Beautiful reaction! I know the feeling you’re, in America we call that, PATRIOTIC
Wow, yes , you make sense.....he says what we all felt and brought America together again......that man could express his feelings so good!!
Thank you. There are two home free vids you need to react to. First is "Proud to be an American" with home free, Lee Greenwood and the U.S. Air Force band singers. This is a must see. Next is "Elvira" with Home Free and The Oakridge Boys. This is absolute magic.
How do you like me now, is a good one by Toby. He has a great sense of humor and it shows in a lot of his songs.
Yes, he has a deep, smooth voice and you can understand every word he sings. It makes it easy to listen to. A lot of singers don't have that. It is a manly voice and makes you sit up and pay attention. Luv it!
After 9/11 my oldest son and the neighbor's boy went. The neighbor's son took a bullet, but they both made it back. God Bless America.
He wrote this song for the troops when he performed, never intended to release it. A commander told him he should release this song for everyone
Sadly, we just lost Toby😢 He was a very talented singer with the heart of a true patriot. He will be greatly missed. ❤❤
Back when he wrote this song he had just lost his dad & then not long after 9/11 happened.
I was never super big on country music but Toby is by far my favorite country singer. Love As Good As I Once Was
Check out his song, 'American Soldier'. It's another great song of his.
Toby has a lot of hilarious stuff. I love him. First one I ever heard was HOW DO YOU LIKE ME NOW. i recommend that one next
I love Toby Keith. He's a great lyricist and a great singer.
He passed away February 5, 2024. R.I.P Toby Keith-a great American patriot!
Toby Keith is an American Patriot who always makes me proud. Praying for your health Toby. America loves you.
This time I had to.
toby does a lot of concerts for troops overseas 🥰 prayers for him during his cancer battle!
Toby Keith Colver was born & raised darn near in the middle of the USA, welcome to the Ok/Tx area brother!! ❤
I served 20 years in th Army including a year in Iraq and love this song and video
Makes me feel so proud to be an American!!!! ❤
I’m glad someone wants to do it, because I couldn’t. Incredibly brave men and women. 🇺🇸
✌🏻❤️from Texas
Great reaction!!!!! He did it so well, some feel this is national anthem #2. Yes, he did it right. RIP Mr. Keith.
You're "risking" your entire being, by going to the fight, so the fight doesn't come to you. Yes, I've been there .
Toby Keith is all about his country. So much love.
