The soldier on the bus was missing his right arm. He gave the guy a slight salute with his left hand instead of his right, which one he would normally use.

Thanks. I couldn't tell as the picture was too dark and all I could make out what appears to be a Presidential Unit Citation badge but the significance of his response to being stared at was awsome as he gave his right arm and still paid respects to a person he sacrificed it for. Wow!

I was a 2 week married 19 year old when I saw my husband off on a ship for 9 months. Horrible feeling to see that ship slowly pull away from the pier. Then when they came home it is still one of the most amazing sights when that ship slowly comes back and the entire crew is standing at attention in their dress whites around the perimeter of the ship. Still brings tears to my eyes 40 years later

This song always hits me really hard because I have had at least 1 family member in just about every American War other than Vietnam and only 2 family members that have actually been killed that I know of both in the Civil War fighting for the Confederacy 1 was killed in 1864 and the other was killed in late January of 1865

I'm sorry for your loss. Lost my grandfather a few years ago. He was a Korea veteran. He was a big reason why I joined the Army. I served in Afghanistan and Iraq and I couldn't be prouder to have followed in his footsteps. The thing that devastates me is that he passed before he got to meet his great granddaughter. All my grandparents did, Moms side and Dads.

This song has been my Dads ring tone ever since I got my first cell phone at age 18. He was in Iraq/Afghanistan/Kuwait on his first tour on my 18th, sending an email wishing me a happy birthday and letting me know my gift of my very own phone. He saved his leave for my HS graduation a few months later.
He went back for his 2nd tour a few years later along side his little brother, my uncle. He came home in full kidney failure and needing heart surgery due to working and living around black mold throughout that tour. He is 100% healthy today and he will forever be my Hero for giving this country his entire life from age 17 up until he retired early in 2011 to focus on getting healthy for his grandkids.
This song will forever warm my heart and Toby Keith will forever be one of the greats ❤

Great Reaction! Thank you for reacting to "American Soldier". I am a 68 yr. old woman who was raised and lived most of my life in Oklahoma. But, I married a Canadian in the mid-70's and lived for several years in the Toronto area. Canada is a beautiful country and Canadians are wonderful people, still there were times when I would get really homesick and my husband figured out the best way to help me get past it was for us to take a drive into downtown Toronto and drive by the U.S. Consulate Bldg. so I could see the American flag! Sometimes he had to drive around the block a couple of times but it ALWAYS helped! You are right about Americans being fiercely proud and very patriotic about our Country! We know that the U.S. is not perfect and we know that a lot of mistakes have been made. But, it's the hope and belief that we can do better and BECOME a "more perfect union" that drives us forward. Sometimes it seems like for every couple of steps forward, we take a step backwards and I appreciate when people from outside the U.S. are able to acknowledge the good. I thoroughly enjoy watching your reaction videos and I look forward to seeing more!

I cried it was so irrational but I saw Toby Keith in concert around 29 times (I am only 25 lmao) and got to meet him at my uncles bar and have a drink with him. He and Alan Jackson are such hero’s and amazing guys. When Alan Jackson died I think it will be even worse given how good of friend they are and that he will die from the same disease I have at a younger age. I typically don’t get into celebrities but those two idk it’s just different.

This song came out when my oldest baby boy was in Iraq. I watched my 20 year old baby go off to war as a line medic. He was a blessed one came home at 21 as a changed man. That was 20 years ago. He retired last June as a maintenance test pilot. I come from a long line of veterans my dad and some of his brothers served in WWII and my mom's brother too. My husband was a Marine and his brother retired from the Air Force. So was only fitting one of my boys would join. Was hard.

I've seen this song in person, And a million times on the radio, at home, bars, and this video... yet I'm the one crying this time. 😭😭😭😭
One of my lifelong friends, since the womb, like a brother forever, did 3 tours to the Middle East as a Corpsman. 🧐🎖️ He came back alive about 15 years ago, but mostly on the outside... PTSD was overwhelming and he struggles to live with PTSD and Schizophrenia. His memories from our childhood are gone, and he says he'll call back the next day... says he loves me... but months go by until I call him again.
Most don' t come back the same. 😭😔

My grandpa was in the US Air Force, including ROTC to pay for college, for about 30 years. He served in-country in Vietnam, and my mom was little when he shipped out for that (around 6 or a little older I think). She doesn't remember much from that day, except that her dad left for a long overnight trip and her mom and sister were upset. My grandpa survived, retiring in 1980 as a full Colonel, then spending around 30 more years working as a Veteran's Services Officer for his county. The last year he MC'd the county Veteran's Day event, he'd managed to call in a fly-over (a huge feat for such an inconsequential zone, and not confirmed till basically day-of, so it wasn't in the program). The local paper's write-up didn't include that - so we're pretty sure the reporter showed up early, grabbed a program, and left immediately. He passed in 2017 from cancer - he'd had several types, and some of his issues could be arguably traced to his time in The Service. We all miss him, he was a great leader and loving grandpa/dad/husband.

They were successful in leaving without the protesters saying anything to him. He always was quiet about his service. I had to pester him to find out anything about that time. I can never get through one of Toby Keith's patriotic songs without turning into an "ugly crying mess". All the men in my family served from WW2 through the Vietnam War, and I couldn't be prouder of their bravery and honorable service.
America certainly needs a lot of work in many areas, but I cannot think of any place I would want to live, especially at my age and the times we are in now. I do worry about my grandchildren and their future children, but I guess I will have to hope that things will get better for them and that they will take part in making that change for the better happen.
Rest in Heavenly Peace Toby Keith, your work here on Earth is complete...enjoy the rest you so deserve, and thank you for all you have done for the great United States. We are forever grateful to you and bless your grieving family.

7:25 In my immediate family we have always held our American Patriotism close to our hearts. My dad, my two brothers and myself were all in the military at the same time at one point. My mom said that those were some of the hardest years for her because on one hand she couldn’t have been prouder that we were willing to step up but on the other her heart would break and there was a sense of not being able to breathe each time she had to watch one of us fly off to unknown dangers with no clue whether or not that was the last time she be able to hold us in her arms. My poor mom. I appreciate her sacrifice as well.❤

This is random, but my favorite Toby Keith memory was when I was in high school, 17 or 18, and my parents went to his concert…my mom came home smashed and started yelling from the bottom of the stairs for me to wake up. So, I crawl out of bed and make my way to the top of the stairs, she’s still at the landing, all drunk and excited starts jumping up and down and yelling out the lyrics “brought to you courtesy of the RED, WHITE AND BLUE” and then proceeds to start throwing red, white and blue confetti she collected from the concert out of her pockets and into the air just laughing and laughing 😂 That was 18 years ago, I shared this memory with her just after he passed, she of course has no recollection 😂

Thank you for reacting to this video 🥰
As a proud American who appreciates the service of all of our armed forces, the line that hits the hardest for me in this song is- ‘I’m out here on the front line, sleep in peace tonight’
If their sacrifices don’t tug at your heart and make you appreciative, I feel bad for you.

I've been on the other side of the fence with our young boys, everytime that damn phone would ring (which meant that he was leaving for some mission without knowing how long he'd be gone) so I definately know what it feels like. I've said bye so many times, that now, a Veteran's (of 36 years) wife (together for 48 years), I find it very difficult to say bye without tears. Also, my hubby was in Afghanistan when Toby went there and hubby was on security (as a Military Policeman) but had to leave for an emergency so he never had the chance to meet Toby. We did go, however, to his concert in Canada near our town but again, never had a chance to meet him there. When he sang that song, he changed the lyrics to a Canadian soldier and my hubby stood up and saluted Toby. That got to me. After Toby was done singing it, he turned his guitar over and there was the Canadian flag on the other side. A moment in time, we'll never forget. RIP dear Toby.

Once again, you melt my heart! As a daughter of an Air Force veteran and pretty much my entire family, as far as uncles and cousins, served. I’ve always been extremely proud to be an American. And I don’t know if it’s because I have three sons, and the world seems to be falling to pieces, but I really needed this to spark my patriotism. Thank you so much.

For most of us, we serve/served out of equal parts duty, and fear. Duty to maintain what those who went before us left to our care. And, fear of what very well could happen if we didn't/don't.

Thank you so much for doing a review on this song specifically. The amount of pride this song makes me feel... It's unreal. I'm from Houston, TX and we're known for having the biggest rodeo in the world. The very first concert my parents ever took my sister and I to was a Toby Keith rodeo concert. And, honestly, I don't think I'd have the bravery either.

You aren’t crazy and thank you! America had a crazy ride! Certainly the land of the free and our native Americans took a hit so our growth wasn’t perfect. And then there was slavery and the civil war, our 13 original colonies, four assassinated Presidents….yes, Toby covered it well and I surely miss him as does the rest of America. Thank you again!

I listen to another reactor from the UK that served in the military for 10 years and I felt so sad when he said no one ever said "thank you for your service!" It truly broke my heart. To anyone from the UK that ever served, from this proud American let me say "THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!"

Have you done a video on Toby Keith the angry American? He wrote that in 2001 after 911 and after he lost his father earlier that year he was sitting in his father‘s garage and wrote that song in about 20 minutes and it is become one of the most iconic for our military, he did I believe it was 170 USO tour tours for the troops he was a very patriotic man and he deserves all the accolades he’s ever gotten and more in my opinion may he rest in peace, knowing he did a good job for the servicemen hereand around the world

I've watched my husband get in that dreaded plane twice (both times to Afghanistan). He lost his closest friend in Afghanistan that second trip and even got shot at, but thankfully, he made it back home safe and sound. But he is forever changed and doesn't talk about it much. He is currently still serving our country - a little bit over 18 years...

My husband was in the marine corps. He deployed to Afghanistan during what was known as Operation Enduring Freedom. I ended up getting pregnant the weekend before he deployed. I found out a month into his deployment. When I dropped him off on base to leave, I held my smile until I couldn't see him anymore. Then, I broke down. There was a hurricane that hit where we lived while he was deployed. There were times where he was able to get access to wifi and was able to talk to me. There were times where he went absolutely silent which meant something had happened and they were waiting to notify family. During those times I would search the Afghan news website looking for information. Every time I heard a car door close outside of our house I would hold my breath waiting for someone to come to the door. I was terrified they were going to tell me he was gone. Luckily, his deployment was cut short and he got back in time to be there for the birth of our oldest. She's the only one of our kids who has his blue eyes and was born while he was still serving. The day he got back they held everyone on the plane and let another marine get off first because his baby was being born right at that moment. He had to rush to the hospital.
