God Bless Toby I wanna tell a story about Toby that means a hell of a lot to me. In 2003 I was deployed to Afghanistan with the 45th Infantry Brigade. We had been there a few months and then we found out Toby and Ted Nugent were gonna be at our base to just do a meet and greet and then go do a show at Bagram. When Toby got off the bird he saw the Thunderbird on our shoulders and knew we were his fellow Okies. We had guys that were musicians and had their families send over their guitars and amps. Toby decided that he was gonna do a show for his fellow Okies. They pulled a flatbed truck to center of the base and he and Ted stood up there and brought some light into a very stressful situation. Then after they played deep into the night they signed autographs for every single person who wanted one and didn’t gripe about it once. They stayed overnight and then went back to Bagram the next day. It meant a whole hell of a lot to me and my brothers. It was a little taste of home. Thank you Toby and Uncle Ted for giving me some time.
Thank you for your service and for sharing your story. My son in law met Toby while stationed in Germany and had nothing but good things to say about him.❤️🇺🇸
This song was his response to 9/11. The videos of the military are from his USO tours, He did 11 total. My husband was in the Army and deployed to Iraq when Toby did a couple of the USO tours. Some of his family lives just a few miles from me in Eastern Oklahoma. He was a true patriot and a legendary Okie.
Toby’s Dad served during Vietnam. This song was written due to his anger, and the anger of the American people in regards to 9/11. He has done SOOOOOO many USO tours. He was a HUGE supporter of our military. He passed on my 15th anniversary on February 5th. From this February 5th on, we will honor that day as red solo cup day in this house. RIP King Toby❤️❤️❤️❤️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Toby wrote this song as a result of 9/11 and having lost his father to a car accident not long before that in 2001. He never intended to record it and publish it, only to perform it at shows. He was performing it once for US Troops and one commander told him it was his "duty" to record and release the song.
Toby's father was killed in March of 2001 when a guy hit his truck pushing him into oncoming traffic. After 9/11 Toby was in his father's shop wondering what his dad would think and wrote this
Toby was the kind of guy who lived what he sang. He was genuine and plain talking and you never had to wonder where he stood, cause he would sing at you. He is already being missed. 🤥Congrats on your Chiefs big win!
Toby Keith wrote this after 9/11 and only performed it for the troops. He was finally convinced to record it and release it for all of us to experience it. R.I.P. Toby.
He was a big lad, 6'4 played semi pro football at one point. If you play " Don't let the old man in " from the peoples choice awards it'll make you cry the way he looks. That scourge called cancer. RIP Toby.
Toby Keith lost his father to a car accident in 2001. This song was written in honor of his father and the 9/11 tragedy. He never had intention of recording/releasing this one, but a superior in the military, and I'm sorry I don't recall who, told him it was his duty to put it out for the rest of us to hear, so he did. He was a true patriot. He will be missed. I still cry when I hear him.
Toby Keith released this one pretty quickly after 9-11. It was a rallying cry at the time and now is a living memory of our great nation and what happens when terrorists or terrorist regimes mess with these United States of America! RIP Toby Keith. Sing loud and proud forever!
All you have to do is look at the face.. That's his Daddy... Toby did over 20 yrs of USO tours. Total respect for his dedication to our troops and, obviously, respect for all of our Troops
Toby did over 200 performances in 15 countries for the troops & he wrote this just for them, after 9/11. One of the commanders told him he MUST release it for the public, because they needed to get mad too. So, Toby did just that & he did get some flak for his 'violent nonpolitically correct stance, but most Americans like us, loved it. Toby said he did the USO shows for the troops to honor his dad. For another really special song, check out the song he wrote for Wayman Tisdale, the best basketball player to ever come out of Oklahoma, where both he & Toby are from. After playing pro for 16 years with the Suns, he began his music career & he & Toby became close friends over the years. Cool guy who also passed from Cancer, so listening to Toby sing about losing his friend, perfectly describes how we are feeling about Toby right now. It's called 'Cryin for me' & the video & song are just beautiful.
Toby Keith was a very patriotic American. Who loved his country. From what I have read. He preformed over 200 shows for our American Troups overseas. Every American ought to be proud of this song.
Toby passed away February 5th from Cancer at the age of 62. He was a great singer, musician and man. He continued to give back to Oklahoma and his country to the very end!❤😢
Toby was a big guy, semi pro football player and later an oil rig worker before making it big. They say he made 11 trips to Afghanistan, paying for his own expenses and I see someone saw him on base in Germany. If you watch his final performance from Dec. 2023, called Don't Let The Old Man In, you can't help but see how cancer ravaged him. He'll be missed forever! RIP Toby!
This reminds most Anericans no matter how much we disagreed with each other politically, if we were attacked, we came together as Americans! This was after we were attacked on 911. My father lost both legs fighting for our Country. I really, truly hope that we can come together again when it comes to our Country. My Dad, Husband, Uncles, Paternal and Maternal Grandfathers All served our Country. It’s so important to respect those who are willing and have given their lives for our Freedom. I Loved Toby Kieth! We All did! He did so much for our troops.Thank You for playing this. R.I.P. Toby! 😢
Toby performed in Afghanistan - Bagram and Kandahar that is where the video was recorded. Veteran honor to see him in Afghanistan. Thank you Toby for always making time for the military and veterans....RIP
Very few times have I cried when a singer died in all my LONG years. I cried when Elvis died when Conway died when Karen Carpenter died when Tina Turner died and when Toby Keith died. This man represented everything good in country music and in being a loyal American. I live down the road from Nashville and few entertainers have had such an impact on country music in the relatively short time he had. We will always miss you Toby. ❤️😢❤
Toby played semi pro football before he started singing. Big supporter. Saw him twice when I was serving overseas. Don't feel bad for being late to listen. Us fans welcome you.
Yeah Toby did quite a few shows with the USO. I was in Germany and got to see a ton of folx. I met a lot of the New England Patriots cheerleaders, Blues Traveler, Big and Rich and a few others. I met some others on deployment. :)
Toby Keith had so many great songs so whether you need to hear something heartfelt, patriotic, romantic, sad, melancholy, inspiring, thoughtful, or just plain funny, yeah especially funny, then Toby’s got what you need. My favorite songs by Toby Keith are Who’s That Man; Wish I Didn’t Know Now; You Shouldn’t Kiss Me Like That; He Ain’t Worth Missing; We Were In Love; Upstairs Downtown; Don't Let the Old Man In; How Do You Like Me Now; Made in America; I Wanna Talk About Me; American Soldier; Trailerhood; A Little Too Late; A Little Less Talk and a Lot More Action; and of course Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue. RIP Toby, we miss you!
It's truly sad, that Toby has, passed. He was a true Patriot, Great American, thankful to military, loving family man, married 40 yrs and gave us all a song or to sing along and raise our red solo cups . American Soldier and Don't let the old man in..
My home boy. I’m a native Oklahoman. Lived in Oklahoma City metro for 30 years. Toby was always around. He was just a guy who was known world wide. Our home. God Bless him for never changing. I had friends who lived by two of his houses. This song should be a NATIONAL ANTHEM!!!
I have never seen the outpouring of love for one star, before this...he was a great man and we will miss him..I wish he was here to see and hear all the wonderful things being said about him. RIP Toby.
He performed to troops all over the world! Some of the old pics were not just of his dad but Toby as well! He was a soldier too! And he did an interview years ago saying he wrote this song in 20 minutes! R I.P.
He is truly one of the greats man. I grew up listening to him. You should react to his live performance at the 2023 CMA's where he song his latest song Don't Let The Old Man In. It was his last live performance before he passed I believe. It's means so much more now that he's gone. Still loving all your reactions man!!
Toby not only did large USO tours, but he would grab a jeep and a driver and his guitar and head to some of the outposts. My son’s Marine unit got to see one of those impromptu concerts. It was “heaven on earth” as far as the guys were concerned.
I didn't realize what a wonderful character he was until it was too late. As the song says, "The good, they die young." I believe God is going to have another patriot rise up and take Toby's place in giving us the patriotism we all need. RIP
Toby is the man, this is who we as Americans lost, on too many levels. True as the day is long. All love and admiration. Show the whole video some time, he's amazing.
This song ment a lot to everyone but of course the military adored it and it gave them something to hold on to in difficult times!! Luv the song and the reaction! 🤙
Thank you for doing this ! Still cannot make it through videos without sadness and tears but I love how many people are remembering him with love and respect ♥♥❤🔥😭😭
In November he was on a podcast with Bob Stoops, and mentioned how his dad once asked him why he didn't go overseas and play for those in the military. Then after his dad died in a car wreck in 2001, he kinda made it a mission to finally do it.
toby used to detour his whole tour convoy of buss and semis to bases around the country to put on free concerts. on top of that hes gone over seas to do soooo many USO concerts that hes got to hold some sorta modern record.
Toby was always bigger than life, even at the end when he seemed like a strong wind could blow him around like a rag doll. He didn't go to visit our troops around the country he went to them around the world. If you look up the word "patriotic" in the dictionary, it'll say "See Toby Keith". I'm not sure how many USO shows that he did, but supporting our troops no matter how he could was very important to him. How this video begins and ends, he's performing this song at the Grammys the year after the attacks on 9/11. He had written this song specifically for the USO tours he did and a general (I think) came to him and asked him to perform it for the general public, kind of a way of pumping up the US and keeping the united front that happened after 9/11 and he did. The rest, where this song is concerned, is history. His voice is so powerful and nothing, not even cancer, got him to stop and we'll always be thankful to him that it didn't. In my opinion, there's very few that will ever be able to top him.
Not all over the country all over Iraq and Afghanistan over the 10 different USO tours, this song was actually never meant to be to be released to the public, it was written for use here seas
Toby was a top notch American. I remember when this song came out. I'm Gonna miss him. And as for another Toby song? You should absolutely do Trailerhood!!! The video is great
Toby didn’t just visit bases here at home. I’ve seen him in Iraq, Kosovo, and Afghanistan. He was a true Patriot. Toby, you’ll be missed by all of us that served.
If someone doesn't like this song, they aren't american! I know people from other countries that absolutely love this song. Toby is a fuckin legend! I've listened to him since he came out. I never got to see him live but im sure he was insane live. Rest easy toby, i know you and my mom are up there singing and jamming and having a wonderful time in heaven. We lost you too early, but you're not in pain anymore
God Bless Toby

Toby flew all over the world to sing to our troops. He was amazing.
Amen! He absolutely was! True American Patriot! Rest easy, Toby Keith!
And got massively rich doing it.

He truly supported and loved our military service men and women. He will definitely be missed.
Toby went overseas to see all the troops and performed for all he could!! This was after 9/11, he went so they knew we cared.
I still cant believe he's gone. He was one in a million.
Toby’s Dad served during Vietnam. This song was written due to his anger, and the anger of the American people in regards to 9/11. He has done SOOOOOO many USO tours. I LOVE that - Red Solo Cup Day. We will do the same every year, too.
That is my only son's birthday! I think we'll follow your new tradition!
Toby always said “Don’t ever apologize for being patriotic”!!
Toby Keith did more than 400 USO visits for our troops. You should also check out his song American Soldier. ❤😂😢. Rest in peace with Jesus.
I was going to say the same thing
Toby wrote this song as a result of 9/11 and having lost his father to a car accident not long before that in 2001. He never intended to record it and publish it, only to perform it at shows. Toby was a man of family , faith and country.
Toby's father was killed in March of 2001 when a guy hit his truck pushing him into oncoming traffic. After 9/11 Toby was in his father's shop wondering what his dad would think and wrote this
He went to Afghanistan and Iraq many times on USO tours to entertain the military men and women.
Toby was the kind of guy who lived what he sang. He was genuine and plain talking and you never had to wonder where he stood, cause he would sing at you. He is already being missed. 🤥Congrats on your Chiefs big win!
He was all over the world. Not just the country. This was filmed overseas.
Toby Keith wrote this after 9/11 and only performed it for the troops. He was finally convinced to record it and release it for all of us to experience it. R.I.P. Toby.

He was still performing this past December. Totally unrecognizable. The cancer had eaten him down to the bone, poor man. RIP Toby.
Toby Keith lost his father to a car accident in 2001. This song was written in honor of his father and the 9/11 tragedy. Toby Keith was one of the most patriotic American artists ever!
Toby Keith released this one pretty quickly after 9-11. It was a rallying cry at the time and now is a living memory of our great nation and what happens when terrorists or terrorist regimes mess with these United States of America! RIP Toby Keith. Sing loud and proud forever!
I love this song so much! I think it should be our national anthem!! RIP Toby
Toby did 204 USO tours. The military meant so much to him.
All you have to do is look at the face.. That's his Daddy... Toby did over 20 yrs of USO tours. Total respect for his dedication to our troops and, obviously, respect for all of our Troops
There's no mistaking their relationship seeing those pictures. He's the spitting image of his dad!

Toby passed away February 5th from Cancer at the age of 62. He was a great singer, musician and man. He continued to give back to Oklahoma and his country to the very end!❤😢
He did 11 USO tours overseas for the troops in various countries and war zones. I believe he did nearly 300 performances.

That was Beautiful ❤️😎☮️
Hes always been a big dawg!!
Toby Keith, country music superstar and avid USO supporter who performed for more than 250,000 troops in 17 countries over two decades,
He passed away Feb. 5th. He was a wonderful singer.
He was a defensive man in the USFL. He played pro ball where you call that semi pro bowl. Whatever we did that for couple years.
I would recommend highly TOBY KEITH - AMERICAN SOLDIER and Toby Keith Performs "Don’t Let the Old Man In" at the 2023 People's Choice Country Awards |
In my opinion, there's very few that will ever be able to top him.
Toby has so many great songs like American Solider, What about me, Hiw do you like me now, As Good As I Once Was, & so many more
Not all over the country all over Iraq and Afghanistan over the 10 different USO tours, this song was actually never meant to be to be released to the public, it was written for use here seas
Toby was a top notch American. I remember when this song came out. I'm Gonna miss him. And as for another Toby song? You should absolutely do Trailerhood!!! The video is great
I read somewhere that Toby Keith did 204 or 240 USO concerts for the military free
RIP Toby ... A great American
Oh, yeah. Toby was a big boy with an even bigger heart. 😢
Toby was the spittin image of his daddy and Toby's son is the spittin image of him. He will be sorely missed.
That was Toby's dad. Great reaction!!
He was always big until he got cancer. Passed this past February. God bless you Toby Keith!
Toby didn’t just visit bases here at home. I’ve seen him in Iraq, Kosovo, and Afghanistan. He was a true Patriot. Toby, you’ll be missed by all of us that served.
