    This had to be done...and it was so worthwhile. Another great platform for fixed wing FPV flying. This video shows the importance of having a spotter when flying FPV. 2 full size aircraft were seen by my spotter on the ground and we ensured we kept a safe distance from them and descended to 400 ft.

    Dom cutting the clear away is exactly what I did with several planes to film from the cockpit with my Runcam 2. You also have to reinforce the framework if you leave it. I did it with a P-38 and Stearman so since the framework is square I was able to use carbon fiber rod. It looks so cool. Love your set up and that perspective is stunning. I've been tempted to get one of these huge Foxes...

      Thanks! Yeah...think I might do that as I smashed it up on a previous maiden flight attempt. It is a good perspective BUT I've got an even better one planned. Going to mount the airunit on the vertical stabiliser. Should be able to see both wings and most of the fuselage. I like this Fox BUT it does pick up hangar rash very easily. I'm using this to trial the setup and then I'll transfer into a composite or wood glider as they will last much longer and stay looking good. Getting fed up with foamies that look rubbish after a few flights.

      Yup...needed when you are sharing air space with the occasional full size. Cheers !

    Had you considered mounting the camera on top of the canopy? That way you wouldn’t have a blind spot to the left. Nice footage!

    • @EssentialRC
      @EssentialRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Didn't think of that...but am going to mount if at the top of the vertical stabiliser for the next flight. That will look fantastic.

    Dom, it might help others to know the launch booboo on the previous flight. I am new to INAV and when I maiden my 4m carbon F5J with Matek F765 it will be heart in mouth.

      Not easy to explain. I'll do a vid covering the setup soon and will mention it.

    Техника шагнула очень далеко: в 1955 году я ходил в авио-моделный кружок и делали планеры из Бальзы( такое дерево) и обклеивали крылья тонкой папиросной бумагой, а после делали самолётики с моторчиком работающие на эфире и вращали мы по кругу на тонком шнуре. А сейчас модели просто супер, да притом управляемые.дистанционно.

      What?!

    • @EssentialRC
      @EssentialRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      "Technique has gone very far: in 1955 I went to an aircraft modeling circle and made gliders from Balsa (such a tree) and glued the wings with thin tissue paper, and then made airplanes with a motor running on ether and we rotated in a circle on a thin cord. And now the models are just super, and moreover, remotely controlled."

    Finally a video i hoped to find! thank you! i am going to make the same, just i am more oriented on the 2300mm FOX being the 3000mm no more available in my country (in UK it is but gets expensive for VAT and import taxes). Do you think it is ok also the 2300mm or is it better a wider wingspan?

    Im in the process of the same build, i took the plastic canopy off entirely

    • @EssentialRC
      @EssentialRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I shattered mine on the first flight attempt so I may do the same...but am intending to put the airunit on the vertical stab. I think the view will be awesome from back there.

      @@EssentialRC i finally got the head tracking sorted out with the dji goggles, i used the diy head tracking set up from painless 360/ andy rc.. and it works great. Anxious to get this bird in the air

    Will that Arduino head tracking unit work with a spectrum ix12?
    And a djifpv unit?
    I've been looking for something to go with my spectrum transmitter
