After a few flights with the DJI FPV camera on the wing I asked Jason to design/3D print a vertical stabiliser mounted gimbal. First flight revealed this was an awesome position for FPV flying.
Although I like the FMS Fox, it's made from foam and picks up dings and dents very easily. My plan is to fit this setup into a composite Fox glider in the near future.

Please note that this powered glider was flown at a BMFA affiliated site with a NOTAM in place. A second competent pilot was holding a second master transmitter that could take control of the powered glider from the slave transmitter used by the FPV pilot as required. For this reason it is considered a line of sight (LOS) flight, not a first person view (FPV) flight. We take advice from our contacts at the BMFA for all our new FPV aircraft configurations so we understand the rules and limitations we should operate under.

That was really something else Dom. Clear as crystal and as close to feeling like you're flying as you'll get.
Yup...doesn't get any better than that. Just need to put it in a composite glider now. These foamy gliders pick up hangar rash so easily it's ridiculous.

great videos / I was looking at other videos and some had same problem with canopy so they took out the plastic and find a water bottle not sure of size but you could take the canopy with you for size and find a clear bottle cut glue and it may work out for the fpv camera. 😁
Yup. Replacing with some good quality plastic is an option. Maybe I'll do that in the future...but I do like flying with a view of the glider in the foreground with this one.
Since you hand launch that glider you could try a bottom mounted camera for a totally unobstructed view. Just find a one piece clear canopy from another kit to mount underneath to protect the camera during landings.
It doesn't get better than that position on this glider Stig. I'll transfer this to a composite Robbe 3.5m glider when it comes back in stock. These FMS foamies pickup little dings and dents so easy.

I believe power of lightning generated during the rain strom is different , the ones can see in the sky is much stronger than the ones fall to ground (which hit trees ), so if human wants to get enough power for the moon base, contempoary battery power is not enough, the energy only can be harvest from nature and transport to the moon base.

Very nice quality. I wonder if going into the programming and slowing the 'pan/tilt' servos down just a hair might make the function more natural. The eye easily tracks the picture as fast as the servo can move, but the sudden stops/starts are distracting. Ideally you'd have some kind of 'soft start' programming for the servos, but I don't know of any aircraft radios that would have that. But slowing the servos a bit might help. Something that's easy enough to try.

Woah, that design is rather simple and straightforward, in the way all good engineering is. Does it alter the center of pressure at all? Certainly looks dang nice, even for those that prefer the cockpit view, this is a great camera angle, possibly even the best option for displaying footage to interested onlookers. I wonder if the front side of a pusher style motor pod on the spine of the glider might even be better again, with the same arrangement of servos and camera.
Yes regarding centre of gravity. The flight battery has to go all the way to the front of the fuselage to get balance correct.
@@EssentialRC Err,. I asked about pressure, not mass. I'd be expecting the airflow around the tail might be a little disturbed, but the extra drag on the vertical fin might make it more want to turn around the tail, then around the main wing.

Hi Sam - Yes, Inav 3.02 running on a Matek 765 Wing flight controller. The telemetry is displayed in the OSD from the data sent by the FC. I take the logs from either the FC or the TX16S radio afterwards and put it over the top of my onboard video using RaceRender. Looks a lot nicer than the DJI OSD which can be recorded anyway.

I like the heads up compas. That radio looks really snazzy. I wonder if my using spektrum was a good choice cause I've been thinking of getting that Ix20. My nx works great but I don't suspose I know enough to have an opinion.
I was a devoted Spektrum user for 10 years and the price of equivalent radio is ridiculous compared to the much more flexible TX16S MAX. Its worth a good look.

Wow! Best I've seen. Can I use the DX-8 and the AR637T currently in my Fox 3000 for this set up?
I wouldn't use Spektrum for FPV fixed wing.

@@Navigator777777 Because I have had too many cases of signal loss at long range or if I have flown behind trees/buildings. I use Crossfire for all my FPV models.

Thank you for that! There's a lot of firsts for me going on in the RC world right now. I went the hang glider route but learned I was too smart and too old to continue. I saw the Night Radian and had to have it! Then, I saw the Fox 3000 and fell in love. It arrives Wednesday. Then, I discovered FPV...with your video I believe. (One of the best setups I've seen) ....now I've discovered ArduPilot and Mission Planning.
I will check into Crossfire! Heck of a learning curve. ;-) But fun!
@@Navigator777777 I recommend looking at iNav. It has an application to help set it up. Ardupilot is mostly setup by command line scripting apparently
Does the DJI goggles output the pan an tilt data or do you use another device to get the pan and tilt measurement?
Confused a bit by the question. The pan/tilt gimbal which has the FPV camera attached is controlled by individual sliders on the Radiomaster DX16S transmitter. We will be changing the pan/tilt to be controlled by a head tracker soon so it moves with my head movement.
@@EssentialRC I thought you were head tracking. It will be nice to see a complete setup video once you have finalized the setup you are using.
It is hard to find good information on a DJI digital FPV Head Tracking setup. They all seem to me a mix match of various parts with wires and batteries for various parts of the setup everywhere. It would be nice if there was a nice clean setup of hardware with the HUD you are showing on the screen. One of the OEM’s will hopefully be providing a complete Digital FPV with Head Tracking and HUD some time soon. I am sure it will be a good seller for people wanting to start FPV. I told HobbyKing, Banggood and FatShark that they need to produce head tracking modules 2 years ago and nobody has done it. We're trialling our own head tracker very soon. Not sure if we'll sell it.

No, sorry. We'll only be selling it via our eBay shop. Too much time and effort goes into it to just give it away.

Unless the UK has vastly different rules, 500 feet is over anything like a person,vehicle, dwelling , etc. but if in open country a plane can go down to 0 feet legally. Has to stay 500 away from anything is all.
