  • Well known cylinder head specialist Nathan Higgins of Higgins Race Developments uncovered. HRD was the first Australian company to manufacture a 6-bolt LS cylinder head and in more recent times are now manufacturing Ford Small block and Holden V8 CNC ported cylinder heads.

    I'm not sure if this comment was made already, but, if you can, please do more of this video content if you can. It gives a whole world of perspective to the customer investing into the performance market; be it an item or a service. This sort of content is priceless, cheers.

    It's good to hear that people still remember and love Holden engines these days. Remember the 304's in touring cars from the late 80's? Or the 308 from Larry's VN's in 1991? Those engines sounded great, and they were Holden engines, not Chevrolet engines.

      slip88 308s are agreat engine and didn't take much to make fair bit more pwr

    That ute is one of my favorite drag cars on the planet, love the work Nathan does for the industry. Looking forward to seeing the new Holden head.

    Manual 9 secs. Oh yeah baby that's where it at bois. HRD heads are on all my mates cars. And they go like the clappers.
    Wish they did something for the un loved 1uz 4 cam. Great vid guys.

    Well done Nathan keep up the great work and it shows you what is really possible when comparing other performance head or even OE Reco head companies out there and the machines they have which so old that a 1960's OE holden 171 engine block / head would sit right at home in those companies and the owners of those companies have not invested in Technology to the point to lead the World in Engine building. I have heard so many horror stories of sending their engines to some of these places especially in the country areas around australia and get back a engine which is supposed to produce over 500HP and yet they can't even get over 300HP ? With a couple of exceptions, like current suppliers to the V8 supercar industry, which Larry Perkins did for a while for the Holden Teams based out of his shed in Moorabbin ?

    You probly havnt got time to answer what would a holden vn style heads for a 355 stroker be worth 500 bhp in vk commodore

    Do you guys do AMC engines? Do you even have them in Australia? Their heads were the best as cast heads factory in the US at the time they were being raced, in the 70's. The only small block that outflowed them were the 4V Cleveland heads. But they lacked low end torque. There is a few AMC nuts here that would love a good canted valve head for the AMC. We have Edelbrock, which are slightly better than factory heads, and Indy Cylinder head makes some that flow enough for 500 cubes. But nothing for the guy who wants a head on par with what Wally Booth and Hank Arron's was doing in Pro Stock, or Herman Lewis in Super Sport.

    So what do numbers look like for big block ford running higgins parts ported to the max. And using a belt instead of chain. And bigger valves and taller lift with aluminum rods and of course best cam for high end power and four bolt main on all five mains full build all the tricks in the book roller rockers and all that on 460 junkyard virgin block. And would it handle twin turbos. PROFESSIONAL COMENTS ONLY. This smal block made almost a grand hp the big block without turbos shld have way more rite??

    These engines will have very little throttle response unless you rev them pretty high. Not great for the street.
