      🎵Congratulations🎵 on your new watch. I hope you will love it but only time will tell. Mine still rocking the Engineer bracelet, have tried a leather NATO si glen pass which worked nicely as well. Share how it goes with it here and thanks ⌚

    I bought mine 5 years ago and I bought just couple months ago a curved rubber strap from Crafter Blue. That strap just looks great. Forget Uncle Seiko. Mike from Germany

    • @watchluster
      @watchluster  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nice Mike I hope that the strap is comfortable enough. I have tried a smaller rubber strap but found the look to be too disproportionate and eventually have put it back on the bracelet again. I also have tried it on a leather nato which was surprisingly good but again always feels too small with the 20mm lug width. Greetings from Canada.

    Nice detailed review on the green Hulk Sumo! I purchased this same piece earlier this year and love everything about it. I have a 6.5" wrist and it still fits fine on my wrist.

      Great to hear the pillow case works nicely for most wrist sizes.

    I have the same watch. I bought it with my first paycheck back in the day and even tho I have bought a few nice watches since, this chunky green seiko is still my favorite. Good review, I watched the whole thing.

      @watchluster  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@psth3932 Nice mate, you'll enjoy that Sumo I'm sure greatly. Alpinist has always been on my radar and I absolutely told myself I would but the charm eventually faded. I was at that time looking for THE green watch but eventually as you know I ended up with the Sumo instead.
      Going with the green I assume?
      The compass ring never appealed to me and made the watch look too utilitarian for my tastes.
      All the best, and it's raining cats and dogs today here :)

    I have a 44 mm Alpina that wears like a plank compared to my 2nd Gen Sumo. Seiko does some kind of magic to make a big watch wearable by many wrist sizes.

    • @watchluster
      @watchluster  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I find that the watch case has just better pillowing than others. Like you say most watches wear more like a plank but the Seiko diver gets really nice curves on the bottom of the case where it would touch the wrist. It just makes the wearing experience so much better even on a thick watch.
      All the best from Vancouver, Canada.

    The first and second generation Sumo are the best Sumo’s made . Not knocking your third generation Sumo but the first and second generation Sumo’s are what made the Sumo the Sumo. I own the second generation Sumo SBDC033 or Blumo. It was my first Seiko diver I bought over four years ago . I now own 14 Seiko’s and my Blumo is still my favorite and best watch I own . The only other Seiko I so badly want is the SLA023 Marine Master. One day I’ll get that SLA023 but until then my Blumo/Sumo is king 👑 in my collection 👍🏻💯

      Hey there 1968jpy, I totally agree with you and say as much in the video that the first and second are what a true Sumo really is but they never made them in this lovely green sunburst tio the 3rd gen.

    Owning 2 3rd gen sumo even having a 6 1/4 wrist with proper adjustments on the links fits like a charm. I was surprised initially. So basically did not buy 2 piece because I feel in love deeply but because I can’t pass on a very good offer. I admit that bought the first sumo hulk intentionally at half the price. It was owned by a European who used the watch as his beater so imagine scratched bezel and all straps have been scratched. Even though with the price he offered I took it. It’s now my beater then suddenly a couple of watch went on sale a sumo hulk in almost new condition and a new Monster Penguin for a price I bought the first sumo. Now I am still unable to modd either of them and still thinking on swapping with another watch. It is a stunning dial but since having 12 divers I am planning to reduce them.

    • @watchluster
      @watchluster  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi pinikpikantv3555, I gotta agree man, 12 divers?!?!?!!!?!!
      I think I'm at 14 that's currently in rotation with a few others that are out of rotation and I ALWAYS tells myself that I should reduce and have been for the past 10+ years but sadly the numbers just keep increasing and I can't do anything about that :D
      Sumo across all generations has something to offer for anyone that has an open mind I think, if you are closed about it and think narrowly about what goes on your wrist then you probably belong to the 1 watch only club.
      I wear the Sumo and it still gets good wrist time but I have moved on from steel bracelet and have put it now on a single pass leather NATO and it's a bit top-heavy but it's much easier to wear with activities.
      All the best from Vancouver, Canada.

    The bracelet you chose goes very well with the watch. That may be my next watch with that bracelet. Nice and chunky like my Doxa 1500T. Thanks for showing your watch with that bracelet. Can you give some ordering details on the bracelet.

    • @watchluster
      @watchluster  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Super Engineer II from Strapcode though the one here is smoothed by me as I found the edges way too sharp.
      Just make sure you buy the bracelet for Sumo case end links or well you could just go without but I wouldn't as there is too big of a gap in the end link area due to the long lugs.

  • @simplemanideas4719
    @simplemanideas4719 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    For me the Sumo is still too elegenant,
    it does not screem BIG.
    The case is very elegently designed.
    However, the most important thing i like on ths sumo,
    is the professional bezel. The left and right flanks of the case
    protect the bezel from being accidentally moved.
    And the bezel mechanic is perfectly balanced to prevent from
    being accidentally moved.
    Therefore I lik the Sumo very much.

    • @watchluster
      @watchluster  หลายเดือนก่อน

      yes I like the Sumo very much as well. Still a great watch, just has to be worn with a fairly secure strap or heavy enough bracelet to balance the weight better or else you'll find the watch itself just droops down too much.
      All the best. -Martin

      @@watchluster I wear my Sumo on a Nato, which seems to offer extra safety.

  • @thetattedpharmacist3215
    @thetattedpharmacist3215 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    To solve the nato problem, wear it on a Marine Nationale style strap. Tend to be thinner and add less height to the watch than a NATO and they’re so, so comfortable!

      @watchluster  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi thetattedpharmacist3215, yes I have been wearing this watch on a single pass leather NATO which I use to have on my Orange Monster and it fits like a beauty. Thanks for the suggest and all the best to you from Vancouver, Canada.

    • @watchluster
      @watchluster  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sorry to hear that, I have to be honest I stopped tracking accuracy after I got my 3rd or 4th watch.
      I was all about it when I got my first one and then two but after that it was just sort of a backburner kind of thing.

    is this a gen 3.5 as my 3rd gen does not have the little marker to the right of the date window.

    • @watchluster
      @watchluster  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think the marker was removed recently much like the SBDC101 did away with the marker next to the date window. A newer gen wasn't called for I guess as it really is just the marker that got tossed. Less lume...less cost I guess.

    when i was young and blinded by japanese culture i was very intrigued by sumo wrestling .... but now that im old and seen the world ... i know its only because of gambling thats why the sport is so crazy in Japan

    • @watchluster
      @watchluster  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi awfully,average yes sumo is steeped in tradition and has a very long rich history but in the 21st century it's been mired in controversy and as you note gambling.
      The yakuza have always had a foothold into the sumo world, and even though their influence and power have waned in the modern world it's still pretty strong in the realms of sumo and to a larger extent pachinko shops that are still run in Japan.
      I don't really watch Sumo and I have no vested interest in it but I hope those athletes will be able to carry on the sport albeit with a bit more health in mind though that's just wishful thinking I guess.
      No matter what, the watch has no gambling or any controversy involved in it.
      All the best to you from Vancouver, Canada.

    Can you tell me what is better, seiko prospex black series are a seiko 5 sports i like automatic movement

    • @watchluster
      @watchluster  14 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      If you don't have any other watches, the Seiko5 series is a great starting point as you can sort of feel your way through their lineup and see what works for you. The 5 series has a wide variety of watches and once you find your 'style' in their varying designs you'll then be able to step up and buy a Prospex watch knowing what your tastes like.
      I personally went straight for the Monster series and upgraded into Prospex line up after but I think going to the 5 series probably would have made more sense but back in those days there weren't that many and most people of my time went to the SKX first then went to Prospex but I never did personally.
      Look far and wide, there's more to the watch world than just Seiko though admittedly I am still a hardcore Seiko fan through and through.

    • @krisseaman1717
      @krisseaman1717 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @watchluster yes their is something about seiko that draws me in. I do like seiko 5. Three hands are a bit confusing because I don't travel abroad, seiko prospex. Sumo looks good. I will let you know what I choose. Thanks for getting back to me.
