A GREEN FESTIVE WATCH for the Holidays! Hope you all Enjoy the Green Sumo! Merry XMAS and Happy Holidays too all my subs! -Falling😁🎄🎄🎄
u2
This is a real man's watch
This watch is underrated. The best case finishing at its price point and even at several tiers higher.
A very merry Christmas and a happy new year to you and your 👨👩👦 too FT 🎄🎅. And thank you for all the great videos you have produced. Even if a few watches were not my taste, I enjoyed watching your reviews. Take care mate, liebe Grüße aus Deutschland 👋
I have one, Love my Sumo, HULK! Classic design, future classic 👌
Stunning watch. Prices now make this amazing value for what you get. In the flesh, it's beautiful. A favourite in my watch collection. It WILL not disappoint.
Finaly ive got one...Its even more beautifull than a real Rolex Hulk.
Rolex is a brand for scammers, football players, golddiggers and so on. Enjoy your Seiko!
Great review👌 Have one on the way and this breakdown has only added to the excitement! Merry Christmas and a safely happy new year to all!
Hope you enjoy it!
Thank you, Happy Christmas & New Year
I've had my Sumo serviced by Seiko Australia, it runs a tad fast , but I like that, it's always bang on, I can set it for 30 seconds fast, and it stays there, 😀
I love this watch. One of my favorites. Nice video! 👍
the only "weak" point on the sumo is the indeed the bracelet. I´ve bought one :). The green dial is mesmerizing
Love your reviews, and particularly enjoying the fact that the recent Seiko heavy content is tying up nicely with me wanting to add a new Seiko to my collection.
If I could suggest one thing, it would maybe be a bit more macro footage, and some footage in some outdoor lighting shots.
Thanks! Yes I have been adding more in some newer vids but I do have a back log of old vids still not released so new ones probably wont release till mid feb. lol. I'd love to add outdoor and will in summer months. Im in canada and its too snowy!
@@EscapementWatch I get that. No snow here in the UK, but very cold, and the big yellow ball in the sky went missing around September.
Keep up the great reviews.
man the everything on this watch is so subtle! very elegant. old money vibes.
Merry Xmas FT, to you and all your loved ones, keep it up, the channel is great:)
I want it. Great review
I NEED this!!!
Merry Christmas Falling Titan, cheers 🍻
Beauty watch in reasonable price..my 2021 wishlist
Good ! I wait from love from you 💖💘. ( oh wait, someone else already said that ) that’s a beautiful green. You are right about that aluminum. It really is rich looking. Beautiful color. Did you do a review of that mod you are wearing ? Hope you have a great Christmas. I’ve really enjoyed your channel all year, learned a lot. Cheers 🍻
Hahahahahahaha I started reading that and thought oh no is account got hacked very funny. I believe I did review it. Thanks for all the support Michael during the year.
Very good review! Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Love that T-Shirt
My Bluemo has found a replacement. This model was in desperate need of a Sapphire crystal. The bracelet can go. Crafter Blue rubber straps are worth the money.
Am I the only one who noticed the seconds hand taking the dust speck for a ride at around 7:32? 😂
bien vu !
Hey hello from France..i have bought one, fantastic watch looks like more expensive than her price, im very happy with her !
Sorry for mistakes..bye
Affordable price..
Hello! I wandering what to choose between Seiko SPB103J1 and Citizen NY0151-59X. What is your advice?
I have that watch bought mine on last Saturday.
Same as mine bought for my own holiday celebration..awesome
Congrats both of you..very nice watch
I have the 6R15 Hulk. Yes, big. It's a Sumo! The 12 o'clock marker resembles a sumo loincloth 😅. For my collection. Too big on my wrist. Merry Christmas, ho..ho.. ho...
What watch would you recommend between the Willard or Sumo . Not factoring the vintage or modern aspect, just size and wearability.
Thanks.
willard
You can get a better seconds hand on ebay, in a set. It has the red on it. I'm going to use a trident 🔱 second hand on my next hulk and a custom linen dial.
Hey man, nice content! I'm planning to get that Sumo, kind of worried about the size tho. Can you tell me what's your wrist size please? Thank you.
6.5inch
Nice watch, i‘ve the same one. And it’s not so big on the wrist like it seems. 👍🏼
Very nice!
I agree entirely. Was worried after purchasing this online it would look ridiculous on a smaller wrist. Especially the angle of the lugs which unlike Oris designs are much flatter so a distinct threat of overhang, However no, looks and sits fine especially as the ring of stainless steel around the bezel makes it appear smaller than divers with full ceramic (i.e. Hyroconquest). Also unlike many other divers it doesn't have lug protectors which helps. For those that want a diver that's completely unwearable without large wrists, look no further than the Oris Aquis Chronograph!!
Curious where is the different of the $500 ?
Je confirme manifique montre,,je viens de l avoir pour mon anniversaire,, quelle beauté 👍👍
How would you compare this to the SPB185/7 case finish and wear?
185 wears a lot smaller. case finishing would be on par with sumo. but finished excellent. maybe a slight edge to the 185/7
@@EscapementWatch so if I have a SPB185, Sumo won't add much, would be bit redundant, right?
Great video.I want to place order today but I am confused in between green and black. Please help. Which one more beautiful and elegant. Thanks.
Get both if you can't decide 😅
@@fungus70 in fact I already have Tissot seastar in green dial۰ So I placed order Black Sumo.
Are the new 62MAS and Willard really that much better to justify the higher price? Obviously the bracelet clasp is better, but what else are they offering? In my mind, the new 62MAS and Willard should have been around the $950-$1,100 mark at most. This Sumo isn't priced badly (especially if you can catch one on sale). I can definitely pull this off with my 7.25" wrist, but just barely. I find 52mm lug-to-lug to be about the max without overhanging at all.
willard and 63mas are more because of history.... sumo has no history. Seiko is capitalizing on their old icons and I can't blame them. Sumo is getting a 50usd price hike soon.
@@EscapementWatch I guess I would be more forgiving if I didn't see/hear of QC problems with their watches in that price range. Maybe that's just me though.
fair enough! I feel like they do very well for making 60,000 watches every 5 hours. But one day hope they eliminate all QC issues no matter how fast they make them.
@@EscapementWatch Quite, Rolex (and virtually all other big name Swiss, German watches) are mass produced. This where cost of production and retail price comes into play. What is a "cheap" new Rolex these days? £5k UK pounds. That's Grand Seiko money! You get what you pay for.
Does the bracelet links have those annoying barrels on the pins?
yep
@@EscapementWatch thankyou, I'll have to get a pro to adjust it for me then as they are terrible to work with 🤣🤣
liked the comparisons with other models. Sumo is more wearable than what it seems. I don't have a big wrist but I wear it very well.
definitely like the timegrapher analysis.
Thanks for sharing!
I’ve been wearing the exact same watch for about a year now. Much more comfortable on my wrist compared to my Samurai.
Kind of agree with your timegrapher. When I first got it, was about +5 sec a day. When the summer months hit, was losing 5 sec a day. Then every once in a while I’ll gain time again. Not very consistent for only a years worth of wear. Been trying to figure out if it’s too close to something magnetic or not on my nightstand at night. I try to keep it away from my phone and some of my edc flashlight with the magnetic charging base. I’ve gone to the degree of keeping that stuff in my right pocket so it stays away from the watch on my left wrist.
Also thanks for your video on the Shogun SPB191. That’s the next one I am eying for myself if I can get over the cyclops.
Does it wear well on a 6.5” wrist? Thank you
@@HamishCarpenter I couldn't tell you as I have a 7.5" circumference wrist. You should really check your wrist diameter and compare that to the lug-to-lug distance in regards to comfort/look. Lug-to-lug on the Sumo is about 52.5 mm and my wrist diameter is about 2.5" or 63.5 mm. Roughly speaking, a good fitting/looking watch lug-to-lug would be 80 to 90% of your wrist diameter.
Hi! Do you still own this watch? If so, what is you impression now? Thank you!
@@AirlinersHD I still own it, but it definitely gets less wear time. I am pretty sure it needs a service after about 3 years. It was displaced in my rotation after purchasing a pre-owned Shogun (SBDC029) with the 6R15 instead of the 6R35 that the Sumo has. Not sure if the movements make that much of a difference, but I did get the Shogun serviced, which was about 5 year after it was made. I just haven't brought in the Sumo. FYI cost me about $150 to get my shogun serviced at a local Seiko AD/Jeweler.
I like the look of the Shogun more, but the comfort of the Sumo, regardless of the weight. I find titanium a bit more tacky to my skin, which annoys me. Sumo just conforms to my wrist better.
The service issue has tainted my experience a bit. However, my enjoyment of the Sumo really has me considering the green solar Sumo GMT (SFK003). Get all the design qualities I want, but with the hassle free nature of solar quartz.
@@xelanihc Thank you very much for such a comprehensive answer. I am very grateful. I have a lot of answers, but I also have another question. First I will answer about your desire for a Solar watch. An automatic is an automatic. There is nothing more refined than the realization that the watch is alive and from the very sight of a hand that floats and does not tick. For this reason I am always in favor of an automatic. This would be the first automatic in my life and the first serious watch. I think I'm adamant about this design and overall everything this watch has to offer. As for the service, I think the story is overblown. 3 years? Stupidity. And if it is really necessary, it is a sign that the watches are not even close to quality anymore. A friend has his grandfather's Seiko Bell-Matic, 49 years old, never serviced. It works like Doxa. I don't believe that I will serve Sumo before at least 5 years. My question to you is, do you recommend this watch? In my life, I have to give my whole salary for him. I would hate to be disappointed. Do you have any flaws to list for me? Thank you!!!
Tried it on today really nice watch but that clasp 😩
I know the J1 is from Japan market, but what is the difference between the SPB103J1 vs the SBDC081?
The j1 means made in japan usually. But the ref #s is where it is released in the world. Western is SPB and SBDC081 is Eastern. That's what I have seen
@@EscapementWatch thank you! Very educational training. The price reflects the demand for J1.
Do they have fake ones on these. Or seldom
just bought my sumo green in china.😂 at about 850box. the color is so cool.
me old sbdc001 without the X on the bezel looks best
Does it has winding knob?
Yes it does
I think its nicer than a rolex hulk
Smooth, informative. Subscribed. I'm building my own with china post thru ebay. Nh35
Thanks for the sub!
How can I buy this?
Call kavar Jewellers let them know I sent you they will take care of you. Link should be in description.
I have the older SZSC004J, so-called Jade sumo. It got the 6R15 with the S signed crown so I passed this one. This SPB103J1 still a nice one but the 6R35 performance is a bit disappointing...
i have this watch and it runs +20, i have to open it up
@@rctezluh42069 Mine is running at +3 @ 0.1 BE
@@MrFredrictai my spb103j1 runs +1,7 sec per day
Ditto folk. I have the all black 55th anniversary model on the silicon strap. Nice watch, but the accuracy of the 6r35 movt is, well, at best disappointing.
Any chance you'll do an SPB101J1?
There is one in stock at kavar jewelers email me for discount code. But next sumo review will be waffle dials.
“2020 would not recommend” lol!!
The MM300 fits better on the wrist than the Sumo...
But mm300 is much taller thicker
And much more expensive as well!
This has no spring drive, get the spring drive!! The most accurate time keeper ever.
Oke Rainman 🤦🏻
with allighnment issues like mine. :-(
:(
@@EscapementWatch and the sumo in your video has exactly the same problem
i forget if this one was bad or not. believe it or not the camera angles can make a perfect bezel and chapter ring look off. I've seen it many times. Its hard to trust unless seen in person.
@@EscapementWatch spb103j1 has in many watches false printed bezel inserts but especially this green model is a great watch!
We need a minute bezel and a hour bezel
There are minutes indexes on the bezel
Anyone body facing the same issue as me, that the date changes at 12.05am?
That's absolutely normal sometimes Seiko movements can change 15 minutes before or after as it is a gradual change
@@EscapementWatch thanks mine use to change at 12.15 but I made the watch 15 mins faster and when it was 12 I wind the min hands back. Now it changes completely at 12.05. I tried the same trick but it doesn't work
The bracelet let it down for me
You can change it for a strapcode
First!
One star out five would be 2/10. 😅
Good review, but i will not buy a Seiko again, their quality control is very bad on the movement.
fair enough!
With this case size, band should be 24mm
You have to realise that you change the readings because you talk ; stop talking when you check the watches on the timegrapher .
No I've tested it many times off camera it hardly affects it if at all only on some occasion. And even if it does it reverts back to normal pretty quick afterwards so it's negligible
I have a 2008..... from japan.... asking $1200
What ruins the look are those cartoony numbers on the bezel! Could they have made them any bigger?? Huge mistake.
I know right, but you can always get an aftermarket green ceramic with the regular Seiko font
@@EscapementWatch oh yeah! I didn’t think of that! So that would make this a viable watch for me!!
Bigger the better I don’t like small watches, only for Three year old?
