@@bryanttaylor4300 , Chrysler perfected the van to transport people & supplies. They were efficient & not bad on gas. I got into them after my late father drove 2 of them both over 250g miles!
@MNMoparMinivan , I know that is correct. That LE had some very good parts. Bet that engine would still ran with work you noted had been & the trans. The interior was one of the best I have seen in a salvage yard.
@@klwthe3rd Im sure someone has the metrics somewhere but I'd be willing to bet they sold a lot more lower trim models. Shortie + LE I dont see all that often, although I had one myself.
@@MNMoparMinivan Yeah i agree the LE probably MOSTLY came on the longer wheel base models for sure. the SE trim was the most popular since it was the sweet spot in the lineup.
I saw The LE Trim at the start of this video and instantly thought to myself.....is this an #AllWheelDrive model? Then you revealed it's year and that it's a SWB! #AWD was deleted for the first year of the 3rd generation, however returned in 1997! The LE is rare, as are the 98 SWB Town & Country SX Trim with the 3.8!
I don't even know what a Town and Country SX trim is??? Can you tell us about it? And why was the LE trim rare? I mean Dodge sold alot of their top of the line trim Caravans over the years. I didn't think the LE was a rare trim level.
@@klwthe3rd Dodge also sold a metric ton of the SE and base caravans too, I dont have the metrics but personal experience says LE is the rarer trim of the 3. They made some 3rd gen SWB Town & Country's and they were badged SX. So fully loaded like most of the T&Cs but with the 113" wheelbase
@@MNMoparMinivan Oh wow i never knew that. So if you got a Town and Country short wheel base in the 3rd gen it was labeled an "SX" model? I don't think i EVER saw one of those in my life. I love to learn new facts.
How did that Caravan take that kind of hit to the nose and the two front airbags didn't go off??? I mean as you mentioned it looks like it hit a pole and definately NOT at 5 mph. More like 40mph minimum. Other than that, it looks amazing considering the miles. For the front driver's seat to look that NEW for 160,000 + miles is amazing. Even if it was owned by an old cat lady, the fact that the wear is like non-existant is really crazy. 1996 was the first year of the 3rd Gen and this baby led a great life till it was totally.
yeah good question on the airbags. Never know if it had an airbag code and they weren't working before. All we know it never had the clockspring repaired
Afternoon like the van the seats are very good shape paint is good lot of parts on it thank for the video
Not many folks out here given these Vans love. A real car guy can like any kind of car 👍

another excellent video. that van was nice and as usual your commentary was enjoyable💯
@richroj thanks for watching, much appreciated!
Good 3rd gen parts van. For a 96 the interior & exterior parts held up pretty good. For anyone rebuilding one this is the one for you!
yes this interior was MINT! I would have gutted it if I still had Greenbean my 97'

I like that color
I like the blue !
Man I'd buy that whole thing just to have that nice blue color I've never seen that
Yeah it's like a perry winkle blue color. Really nice.
That's the first what year that that body style came out! And very rare that it's an LE

@bulbman7080 good info! It's been a long time since I've seen a 3rd gen t&C SX

The driver was probably hitting the brakes minimizing front damage when the van got sidewiped
Never seen a regular length Caravan (not Grand) with power everything including drivers seat. They're typically base, bare-bones ones
My 97 LE was a shortie optioned just about the same as this one!
I have a 94 fully loaded and it's only a Caravan.
I see why it got sent to the salvage yard, bad, horrible accident. 😢😢
poor van. I bet it lived in a garage or carport. it is in way too good of shape!
