Now thats a Mopar. Today we're looking at this 1975 Dodge Dart. Caught my eye as I was walking down the aisle so I figured I'd show ya. It is a slant 6 automatic 4 door car. So by current classic car standards, all of the boring options I guess. Who am I to judge, I drive minivans. Cool car with white on green color scheme. Recorded 10/24/2024 at U-Pull-R-Parts in Rosemount, Minnesota. This 1998 Plymouth Voyager has had the 50 foot bodywork special! It is a base model voyager with some power options, but not everything. It is a very high mile unit at just over 280k... however it was taken care of as the interior is in decent shape! Thanks for watching! :)

At work we refer to the 3.6L Pentastar found in these as "the boat anchor" because the oil cooler housing is made of plastic and sits in the V valley of the engine so it warps/melts and dumps all the oil/coolant out of the motor. I've changed probably 100 of these motors over the last few years due to that so make sure to keep a very close eye on that part. I share your opinion of liking the older vans, they were cooler in my opinion. Also DO NOT press the ECON button on the center console, there's a factory error with those that jumbles up the ratios for the transmission and it has a habit of grenading the trans if left in econ mode. I much prefer the previous motor they used in these but as long as you take care of these they will last
@jimmyjimjims7483 grenading the transmission sounds like fun though...
@@MNMoparMinivan It does put on quite a show that's for sure

Thank for your help
@dandahl333 well it's probably worth 2k maybe 2.5k fixed. (Don't quote me on that, id have to look up what they go for on Marketplace.) Upull will probably give you $400. If it runs and drives with a clean title it's probably worth 1k as it sits. But you'd have to deal with selling on marketplace. Depends how much you want to bother with it really.
When did the commerical owner put R/T / GT alloy wheels on??? I'm pretty sure the base model didn't even have those wheels as optional.

We have several of this gen van at work, nice vehicle to drive. The dog legs on most of them are starting to rot, so that seems to be the place to watch. 3.6 seems to be pretty durable, but the plastic oil filter housing always cracks and leaks, Dorman makes a metal replacement which is much higher quality. Most of the cam issues come from lack of maintenance, but as nice as that seems to run at 250k, it must have been taken care of. I think those are wheels from a later van, that trim would have come with steelies and covers. I think the black paint on those vans is metallic, very pretty in the sunlight.
@98-SR5 yes it is a black metallic. Very nice paint color! Yeah this one was properly kept up its whole life. Dog legs have always been a caravan issue haha. it's the spray foam they put in them from factory for sound deadening. Holds moisture...
Nice 5th gen! I have a 2016 that looks the same. The transmissions are the weakest link. I think the higher power output of the Pentastar can be hard on them. Other than the rocker arms on 2015 and earlier, and the oil filter housing/cooler leaks, they are excellent vehicles.
@@TheMattstermind this pentastar seems to have either evaded those issues or they've been fixed already
The transmissions are fine if you service them

I have a 2012 T&C with bells and whistles. The doors open by pressing a button and so does the tailgate. There's a guy that sits by the license plate and tells me when to stop when I am backing up. Our 99 Caravan is our car, truck, and utility vehicle. I have been happy with the both of them. Especially the 99 since it was free. Happy Motoring.
That 5th gen is nice! The old ones are best but for a new one that is good. One of my relatives had a pacifica van that I used quite a lot, and it drove really really nice, but it had the nasty 10 speed transmission, sometimes it would clunk into gear really hard. The touch screen was awful, you could not turn the radio off and muting it was annoying because it would just unmute on its own, the only way to not have some thing playing was to set it to aux with nothing plugged in. It didn't even have a CD player even though it was a upper mid trim. All that completely ruined it for me, pacifica is not recommended. Seems that the 5th gens are much better than the pacifica.
Fifth generations are hideous. They are the most awful, bubbly, cringey and ugliest vehicles ever built (IMO).
@@unitedcity_mc4421 Fair, I can absolutely see that. I am not a huge fan of the 5th gen body style either. Personally the 1st - 3rd gens are my favorite and the 4th gens are decent. I think that the pacifica/voyager looks better than the 5th gen and way better than any other new minivan however I would definitely not get one for the reasons I mentioned and they are very expensive.
@ yes, the first ('84-'90) and second generation ('91-'95) Dodge Caravans/Plymouth Voyagers looked kilometres better than the fifth generation.
@@unitedcity_mc4421 Indeed, those are great vans
This van I believe for a 2014 has no options and those wheels were put on after the fact The overhead console has the power door and tailgate controls and that’s about it And in terms of power the 3.6 has around 280 hp and is definitely way quicker than a 4 gen 3.3 or 3.8 for sure
@markryl-kuchar2373 i know enough about the van that they were on it since new. Maybe swapped on as a dealer option prior to delivery. Fleet ordered van of some variety. Wanted it to look nice but also not spend big dollars on options.

What a neat van, Didn't know the T&C had a digital dash. when growing up my parents had a white '92 Grand Caravan SE. I remember always wanting to sit on drivers side with the vents in the back. Learned to drive in that van. Crank Windows and power mirrors. Don't know if that was standard for it.
@desertduner I've seen a few caravans with the crank window + power mirror option lol. They're usually wired for power windows.
Wow, what a find... the Leaning Tower of Power is probably a 225 CID Years before this they had a 170 and 198 CID, tappets were always noisy until they started using hydraulic lifters.
Mine needs a new alternator any idea what model I should get?
@kaycuz9402 Ive never had trouble with the oreilly reman units. I always get the 120amp version, over the 90amp. But if you find a clean looking oem denso unit at a junkyard that's not super high mileage, you should be ok too.
@MNMoparMinivan cheers dude ✌️✌️✌️
@kaycuz9402 Good luck!! Depending on what engine you've got, these alternators can be a pain to get out sometimes. I've managed to sneak one out the bottom on a 3.3L. But you can also get them out of the top if you pull the upper intake. I've also heard of people making the top support bracket a "2 piece" bracket by cutting it but I personally haven't tried that. If you look at a 96-2000 van Chrysler made it a 2 piece bracket from factory.
@MNMoparMinivan thanks so much for the info man. I'm new to this so this reslly helps !
48:12 Might be able to adapt the rear washer nozzle from a 2000-06 Tahoe/Suburban (and Yukon) they have a similar washer line setup with the nozzle on the arm. That will probably give you a better rear wiper spray pattern. Looks like most of the washer fluid currently gets wasted on the ground

I believe that was the last year for the Dart? 1976 welcomed in the NEW Dodge Aspen which had a host of it’s own problems. I had friend’s in high school who had darts. You couldn’t kill them. It's a perfectly reasonable van for $500 bucks. If the people so bothered enough to run their mouth actually watched the whole video through the price would make sense based on what they see and what I hear the previous owner say about it. I live in Michigan and up here that vehicle would have been bought up pronto. My Camry has way more rust than your van and it was purchased for $2k. The hate comments don't give me any solid reasons as to why they think what they do and make no sense, claims and no reasons. Mild rust does not mean roached as far as I know. The fact that they insulted you about where you live and your intelligence because they have nothing else to say that has substance. Thoes are the people that are the least of your concern but i'm glad you called them out. Me and your other subscribers are all for the new edition to the channel!
