When Chrysler launched these vans back in the day of 1983 this is how these were marketed. They were marketed as Magic Wagons becuase the idea behind I think was, you could do as much or more with it with half the size of the vehicle and engine capacity as you could with a standard V8 sluggish station wagon. Chrysler made commercials aimed at the baby boomers claiming "As your family gets bigger and bigger, your car gets smaller and smaller!" :)

Not just minivans. It's in general. All new vehicles got nothing but electronic issues. I highly recommend not getting a brand new vehicle.
