Part of why it’s blowing up is because fans will buy anything to see Peter as a family man because they’ve been craving it for years. Another part is fans want good storytelling. Other Part of it is speculation.
I have a series about Messed Up Moments In Comics and a huge part of it is about everything awful that’s happened to Spider-Man. It’s just so nice to see that in this comic things are looking up for Peter for a change. But that will pivot so fast now that he is Spider-Man.
Funny thing is, we the lifelong fans have been telling them since BND "just bring back the Spidey we grew up with. It'll work, it'll sell." Only took close to 20 years for them to listen... So at this rate, the Marvel Universe should be back on track by 2084.
One More Day/Brand New Day is a story that has been LONG overdue to be undone.

“Cannon events” is the dumbest thing MCU/Sony could’ve done to use as their excuse of things happening.
Well it's the same amount of stupid when writers tried to explain why Gotham is perpetally a shitty place because some bat God cursed it or someshit.
I used to save my quarters as a kid in the 70s and pray the local store had the newest Peter Parker: the Spectacular Spider-Man comic. It focused a lot on Peter and people he knew at college and the heroic story lines grew out of these grounded roots. It also managed to be very diverse without sacrificing depth of story, the White Tiger, a Puerto Rican-American superhero, run being one of my favorites.
The thing that makes Peter Parker special is that he is our best qualities whether in the suit or out. Sometimes it's enough to see a hero being a hero through being an admirable character that takes life's punches and surmounts them. Modern Marvel forgot to let Parker surmount them and instead pummeled him (yeah, there was some copyright battles that also catalyzed this). I have hopes for this new Peter Parker. Maybe Marvel remembered what it had forgotten.

One thing you might have missed: Renew Your Vows - before USM 1, it was THE go-to reality for us Spider-fans after OMD (Zdarsky's Spider-Man: Life Story was also pretty awesome)

Nah Chip's Spider Man Life story was not good. He mischaracterized Peter and Mary Jane and it was all speed up with no good development of the story.
Fantastic Four Life story has better pacing but still worse than Spidey's
I didn't expect much (Peter getting his powers later in life), so I read it for free.
That read was such a blast that afterward, I went and bought it as a digital comics to vote with my wallet and let Marvel Comics know that this needs to go on ! :)
OMD is still the biggest travesty in Spider-Man comics all down to the selfishness of Joe Quesada.
People are loving this because it's what we've been wanting from spiderman for decades! Peter being happy, married to MJ with a family.

I love this story it gave me everything i ever wanted and plus finally giving us the one true peter parker who's actually a adult and shocker and seeing Peter parker and Mary jane being married and they have there daughter mayday parker the future spider-girl and her brother Richard parker all being family is really awesome and badass in my opinion. Also another thing I loved about this story is seeing Peter parker becoming Spider-Man because he was inspired by his wife Mary jane and uncle ben which is actually something unique and very cool in my opinion, and I am also curious if we are going to see mayday parker his daughter reaction to her father being a superhero which is going to be adorable in my opinion.
The new Green Lantern run by Jeremy Adams has been great as well. Even Green Lantern War Journal. Tbh, Marvel & DC both have solid books out right now, but you wouldn't know it unless you went out and read them yourself. So much negativity around comics, especially the big two.

Definitely jumping into this series. I got caught up on the Energon Universe stuff last weekend and it's really good too. So nice having comics to look forward to again.
I still want to know what happened to the original Ultimate Peter Parker. After it's revealed that he was still alive, him and MJ drive off into the sunset to figure their life out, and we don't hear from them again, cause the incursion happens, and the Ultimate universe is eventually destroyed. Except, no it isn't, because we find out later in Miles' story that it somehow still exists, along with many of it's familiar characters.

I stopped buying issues long time ago and just buying the collections. Competed stories in one or two big comic books or 4-8 issues in one book. It looks more nicer and more organized.

Are physical copies out for this? I’m new to the comic book scene and don’t really know if they are released digitally first then print later on. Want to have this as my first comic book before I get my Unity copy!
This comic to me is everything I want out of modern storytelling. Just great characters interactions with the theme of the story echoing without.
It’s about starting anew. Ben and JJJ (the best dynamic in the book) do it by quitting the corrupt Bugle and Peter finds out he was meant to be Spider-Man and CHOOES to be bitten and try and be the hero he was meant to be. To get that missing part of his life back.
This Peter has the responsibility and then gains the power. That’s so interesting and was handled beautifully.
As for the family dynamic, it was just brilliant. Mary Jane was fantastic and the kids even with their limited time in the book were great, I want to see more of the family dynamic in the future and how Spider-Man impacts them.
I loved this book, issue 2 comes out on the 21st February

It's been many years that I've been excited about Spider-Man. I absolutely enjoyed the first issue and look forward to the rest of this series.
I can see them adapting this run in the MCU after secret wars if it maintains its incredible writing and popularity

Dude, this video you did was the best marvel video content I’ve seen as far as story. Better than most of marvels shows and movies. Just seeing the screen caps and story gave me the feeling when Luke showed up on mandalorian. Love it! Buying it. Hope issue 2 doesn’t go woke. MJ implied Peter was gay so I let that slip.

I've kept up on them weakly through youtube, but yeah when heard about them making mj and peter not married, and she goes off and has another family with kids. I was like Marvel must of had a stroke.

Ultimate Spidey 1 was a breath of fresh air. I’m going to continue to say this, the current Amazing-Spider-Man is SO bad! It’s like bad Spider-Man fan fiction.
THIS had some fresh ideas and sure it’s a different universe but it’s a great start and more in line of what Spider-Man fans want to see. Great stuff!

They all sold out within a day by me, and at the distributor level. I ended up paying a bit more to get a few different covers from ebay. This Spider-man is better than many of the current (and there are quite a few) SM titles Marvel is running. Coincidentally, if the MCU wanted to reboot SM for the nth time, this should be sort of story they go for, and bring back Garfield for it.
Superior SM was one the better storylines...
I've seen the reviews of Ultimate Spider-Man by Jonathan Hickman and people are crazy over #1. I have 16 Comic volumes of Ultimate Spider-Man by Brian Michael Bendis and I have to collect 6 more volumes.
This had a sad undertone because the Peter Parker we know would prefer this reality over the one he’s living. It’s upsetting too to know that even though high school sucked it eventually WOULD’VE got better.
This is just cool. Unfridging Ben Parker is pretty original and a nice Left-of-Center.

Just to think, last week I was holding ten copies in my hand of cover A. Put them all back because I was looking for Black suit variant. That cover A is going for $50 a piece on EBay a week later smh. Was able to get the MJ Peter cover so I at least have the darn book.

I will support a marvel comic book when its on issue 10 and its still good. I have stopped collecting comics after 30 years. I got tired of the message and being attacked by these artist and creators for being a fan. I have no interest in supporting a company that hates their fans. If its good in 10 issues I might spend money on it. Right now for me. These people at marvel have a lot of work to get me back as a paying fan. So far this looks like they are trying. Lets see if the crazies at marvel don't try to infect this book.
I liked the original Ultimate Universe it brought now opportunity for new stories and new characters…. This new ultimate universe is more of the same opportunity I can see Spider-Gwen being a part of this world or a brand-new character never seen before

How can Marvel not see the $$$. Zeb Wells...yeah Zeb. I see Peter, sans suit, webbing him upside-down, in front of Marvel HQ. A nice , Friendly World Wide Fan Base, stuck to him...be a nice full page panel. Don't know the guy personally, but we need a change. I did like a few of the arcs. Loved Superior Spider-Man and I'm a huge Ghost-Spider, Silk, and Chasm fan, but...its the Peter aspect of the stories. I will always pull Spider-Man man books. Haven't missed an issue since '84. Yet, I have 3 issues of Gang Wars to read. I read a bunch of Indie books first. Ultimate was down right NEEDED for Marvel and fans. I love what the Maker has become. I'll keep turning pages.

I thought this was a cool and interesting start to the Ultimate Universe Reboot, and I'm curious to see not only where they go with Spider-Man but with the other heroes Tony will be working to restore... I'ts very encouraging that Hickman is involved because generally anything he writes is top notch.
Boycott Amazing Wokie Spider Man and go all in on Ultimate Grown Ass Man Spider Man. Would love to see him adopt the Alex Ross version of the uniform.
i like the story but i kind of wish he ended up with Gwen sense she's really the one the peter loves most plus if he wasn't spiderman she wouldn't have died but i can understand why they went with MJ seeing how she's the one people see as Spiderman's love interest.
