  • There is undeniable proof that New York's Zomba made an incredible run at Smash World Tour Championships with Rob. It's also amazing how Zomba made Rob's backair viable for him during his bracket run. Let's take a deep dive on the statistics of Zomba's matches to see how he made Rob's slow move work for him!

    Did you know that Zomba has entered six tournaments of at least 200 entrants since offline tournaments returned in April 2021. He has achieved or beaten his seed at all six of them. Do you think that Zomba should be seeded higher?

      Similar story to Spargo. Zomba is another younger player who has always been pretty good. He was a great Wifi player in Smash 4 and now in ultimate is ranked no.2 in NY behind Dabuz. Since he’s travelling more and entering more events, he’s improving exponentially, just like Spargo is. Both of them reached a new level during quarantine

    I haven't been following Smash for a long time, but this is interesting. ROB has always been my main since his introduction in Brawl and it's nice to see he is getting the hype he deserves and especial his back air - it's always been one of my favorite moves. I'm no pro player, but it;'s surprising how often it's slow startup catches people off guard in more casual play.

  • @JacobPDeIiNoNi
    @JacobPDeIiNoNi 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I'm surprised it took so long for this move to be commonly used by ROBs because Corrin's back air which is essentially the same thing (just slightly faster, slightly weaker, and better range) has been used for a long time. Not saying this in any sort of demeaning thing, it's just interesting to see how similar moves work in different character's kits.

      Underdog Boost doesn’t make you a better player, even if Zombo did more damage on hits, he still had to play the game himself. Honestly Underdog Boost is too minor of a boost to really brush off the entire game for. And it’s not like either player was ALWAYS down a stock. So I believe it still counts as a win for Zombo.

    I’ve mained R.O.B since Brawl, and the current iteration of him is just absolutely perfect to me. My fave move is throwing a top at the ground, backstepping, then when the opponent single mindedly goes for the top I'm already hitting them with my side b. Even if they get and throw it in time I just reflect the top back! It's also good for controlling the space right in front of the ledge. People forget it hits when spinning in place.

    • @somekinnn
      @somekinnn 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It seems really sus honestly. For games like DBFZ, pro players who have gotten top 8 in EVO will be adamant about how a 17f move like Z Broly's grab is unreactable with only new players who think they're hot shit in that game calling it reactable. A lot of the time when you think you're reacting to these very fast moves, you're actually reacting to the situations those moves would be used in and predicting its use, and then unconsciously assuming you reacted to the move itself. Using just frame data itself is very misleading in general, as how the animation actually works is the most important part. Something like Z Broly's grab in DBFZ is 17f startup but he only noticeably lifts his arm up around 4 frames into the animation, so you have 13f to actually react to it which might be impossible even with insane reactions and only focusing on the grab which is just going to lead to you getting opened up by other, normally reactable moves. Something like rob's back air which is more clear about what rob is doing during the early frames could be reactable, if only barely and requiring great reactions still.

    Now, I have been using Ganondorf against my brother lately, and he cannot seem to beat me. We think we know why, and we think it puts Ganon at the top of the tiers. I will be brief. Ganondorf has his air forward. We call it 'The Punch.' It has that special hitbox like a sword, hence it goes right through anything except an attack with that same type of hitbox. It does 17% max, is relatively fast executing, has basically instant recovery on a barrier cancel, and is quite massive, killing at rather low percentages.

    They say this is best run from a ROB since quarantine but I think they forgot BigBoss got 4th at Port Priority with wins over MysterySol, Chronos and Lui$. Only losing to Leo and Tweek. I’d say if it’s not just as good it at least deserved to be mentioned.

      That's not really a fair comparison. From the players you named only one is pgr. The other two are not even pgr. Yeah still a far run but he did not really beat any good player besides lui$. While zomba. Won against riddles and tarik In Pools going 3-0 not dropping one game and only losing to cosmos which he admitted he kinda choked.

      @@firefatesgaming1855 I think it is a fair comparison. Things don’t have to be equal to be compared. Like I said at the end if it’s not just as good it at least deserved to be mentioned, they both got 4th at a major, I can admit Zomba bracket path was a little more stacked. Also the pgr hasn’t been updated in 2 years, chronos is #1 in Colorado (recently beat Kola) and mysterysol is #1 in Washington so I think of them both as pgr level.

      @@draymondstreamz8268 you can be pgr in your state but that does not mean your good enough for the pgr. There still alot players that are that are not on the pgr which don't life in the us get the chance to travel much . For example Yei from Costa Rico, sonix, shiny mark, Quik, qisqui, mii gunner, The Japanse Pt i forget the name.
      Skyjay, Meme, (the other Mexican pyra/mythra, Mexican ridley, Lea, chag, raflow, flow, Tarik
      If where talking about the us which are not ranked yet
      You have Zomba, Tilde, Quidd, pkchris, sirup, Yonni, toast, Ling Ling, icymist, aaron, zd, pick fresh, dm, mr L, T3Dom . That's only us. And there might be hidden bosses.
      The two player you sayed i never heard of them until chronos beat kola and magister went on run. So i doubt that there good enough for the pgru.
