    In this video, we are taking on the defensive forehand slice. We use this shot in pressured situations, with the purpose of neutralizing the rally, so we can get the initiative back at some point. This is a MUST LEARN shot for every single player.
    This is a crucial shot to get safety and stability into you game, especially in the singles. So, to improve you single game, you need to master this shot.
    Focus on these things:
    - Get into a good position using the right footwork to stay in balance.
    - Lead with you elbow following a forearm rotation.
    - Just before you hit the shuttle, the forearm rotation stops, and you follow through with your arm and a small upper body rotation. Keep you elbow lightly stretched.
    - Hit the shuttle with racked upwards.
    - Cut in the shuttle, just a bit, for better control and the right pace.
    Good luck out there. We hope you enjoy the video.

    That’s for showing me an alternative to that kind of situation. Although I love the art old way of saving the shuttlecock at a low point in a lunging reach position but this is more useful.

      Yes agree but you can also hit it cross or with a bit more speed to middle of the court.

    Plz make a video on how to hit a cross court slice on the rear court FOREHAND ☺☺☺

  • @martincerven
    @martincerven 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    After year I rewatched this video, super important thing I believe is that you follow through horizontally like Thomas. Rasmus pulls it little downward, but even if you add ton of slice and follow through horizontally it should be OK. In backhand your nautral follow through is horizontal not from up->down but in forehand its easier to drag that hand down which is bad and then you hit into the net :)

    • @BadmintonFamly
      @BadmintonFamly  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes agree pull horizontally, but tricky to master that shot😎

      @@BadmintonFamly I wanted to play more fast drops like Momota, but you need have variations with clears and smashes otherwise it is predictable. The amount of work that Momota had to put into perfecting these forehands is incredible, that he is able to play this fast drop game against top players like Axelsen, no wonder that it has to be depressing to play against him :)

    What is the difference in the swing for defensive vs offensive (cross court slice).?

    • @BadmintonFamly
      @BadmintonFamly  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The use of the wrist so you cut it or hit clean on, and then ofcourse the amount of power you put into the swing/shot😉

  • @lucvutien6855
    @lucvutien6855 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    hey, what do " rotate the grip counterclockwise just a bit" mean? thank u very much

    • @lucvutien6855
      @lucvutien6855 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      i can't image :))

    • @BadmintonFamly
      @BadmintonFamly  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It means, as a right handed player, you need to rotate the grip towards the back hand grip. That is counter clockwise. If you do not change from normal forehand grip, the shuttle will most likely go out of the court, when you hit it.

  • @abdullahahmad184
    @abdullahahmad184 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    How would we vary this so that the shuttle goes at the same speed but towards our backhand frontcourt?

    • @BadmintonFamly
      @BadmintonFamly  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Would be the same shot but with an angle on our wrist rotating a bit around✌🏻

  • @powdodo4406

    great but... an important detail you missed: the grip. it's thumb on the side bezel or the small bezel.

    • @BadmintonFamly
      @BadmintonFamly  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes agree and its a forehand grip but close to the thumb grip when you are under high pressure 😉

  • @KRISHNAKUMAR-jb2nv

      But yet it was a great video. Salute ur effort .well done mates

    • @BadmintonFamly
      @BadmintonFamly  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes can play it cross or with more speed to middle of court or closer to baseline so the opponent can't see what you do if you play with variations👍🏻.

  • @naveenkumar-ck2nt
    @naveenkumar-ck2nt 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Instead of slicing the shuttle, why can't we play a speed drive to send the shuttle to corner of backbox which will be a backhand for the opponent ?

    • @BadmintonFamly
      @BadmintonFamly  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is also a good option, good to have variations to do in all corners 💯

    @alfthealien 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Unless it is executed to perfection, this is a bit of a suicide shot. A cross court drop at least has the element of surprise.

    • @mohammadrahman1722
      @mohammadrahman1722 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not really. With a cross drop they can still straight net and make you run the full length of the court, lift to your backhand or straight drive. The point is being able to do a variety of shots from your deep forehand. Also, its an extremely common professional shot, Momota(world no.1) uses this a lot. As long as you have decent footwork, its generally a solid shot.

    • @BadmintonFamly
      @BadmintonFamly  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Definetly not a suicide shot. With the right pace and height the shuttle will head for the dead zone. Then your opponent will be forced to do something creative with the shuttle to hold the initiative. It is a difficult shot, but in most situations the shot with fewer risks than the alternatives. Cross court drop can be a surprise, but if it isn’t, you will have a long run - if you can reach it at all. As with everything else - variation is key! So your opponent never knows, where the shuttle comes. 👍😉

    • @yellowshuttle
      @yellowshuttle 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BadmintonFamly Seems like the key here is that you deliberately slow the shuttle down a lot *and* keep the shuttle low at the net. Besides, you wouldn't play this shot if you had other options, right? In a sense, you're attempting to recover from a previous error that allowed your opponent to push the shuttle flat to the back court.

    • @BadmintonFamly
      @BadmintonFamly  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes. But no too slow. If the shuttle comes too close to the net, we will be vulnerable to the net shot. It needs to land in the dead zone - just behind the service line. This is a shot we use, when we are under pressure. So, if we have better time, we would of course prefer another shot.
