    Again...beginners...keep it simple at first. Something like this product and a Harbor Freight or even Griots Garage entry level polisher. Will get you started with enhancements.

      Hey brian, question, can we use the meguiar d300 + ceramic coating?

    • @joeyg243
      @joeyg243 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brian, always a heap of thanks to you for your time and help. Never thought Tide Sport, AP's could do so much to make great results. As a home garage warrior, who uses his arms and hands, and no da, I have learned a lot about time and effort and results. Meguairs works for me. Ultimate compound works best for what I need to correct and I feel it compliments a Clay process. My 2003 Town Car seems to be armor regarding the clear and the pearl white tricoat has survived well from living in the house, in Tampa FL where I live and work. Thanks so much for your dedication to the public and me.

    After watching this video, I bought the D300. I have been using M205 for annual maintenance polishing my 2 black soft paint vehicles. I like the results I get with M205 and 5" Buff N Shine straight side pads. I have always followed the same thinking you now advocate of doing just enough to bring out the shine, and don't go after every defect aggressively thus saving the clearcoat. It's good practice, and it works for me! I try to do my enhancements/minor corrections with a soft polishing pad. I generally try to use a 5" Buff N Shine blue light polishing pad on my modded HF polisher. The M205 gives me the finish I like, but the dusting is a PITA! I am pleasantly surprised the D300 with the same blue foam pad gives me the same finish, and doesn't dust. This product can finish down ready for wax/sealant, and with different pad (s) it can also do some moderate correction makes D300 a true one step. Thanks the heads-up Brian!

I thought the test was excellent with the various degrees of scratches and what the D300 will do or not do. You don't talk needlessly like others. D300 looks to me to be a great product for beginners like myself.

Won't break the bank and been very accurate for me. Within a couple micrometers. Have to calibrate and comes with case and calibration films and steel and aluminum disc.

    A quick question. If I do a test panel and find that I'm set with the right pad for the correction level I want after I wiped it down to remove the oils in the d300 do I need to wipe the whole car down prior to my final wax? Basically I'm asking if you can wax over d300 without using a isopropyl type wipe down? That question was not so quick but thank you.

    Hey Brian, I have a car that's been clayed and sealed, waxed but I noticed swirl marks all over. I've never used a da polisher or compounds so I am a serious beginner. I'm looking for a simple one step process to remove the swirls and light scratches. Outside of the swirls and light scratches I Would say my paint is very smooth and beautiful, especially to the everyday guy. Would this be what I want? What color pad should I use? Can you also reccomend a da polisher under $80? How would you rate this against the griots garage polish? Thanks!

  • @Leshrac92
    @Leshrac92 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Best compound ever BUT you MUST use it with microfibers pads cause it was developped for these and not for foam pads. It's written on the bottle. TRUE that you need IPA to remove the oily finish of this product even it s water based. Doesn't contains fillers but the finish is kind of.

    Like you said it is a great product, I have used for a long time and help me make a lot of money when you consider the cost and how easy is to use. I have include in my arsenal some of the top compounds that you have in the list as the cutmax and they are great but way pricier so when the customer doesn't have the budget guess who is coming to the game as the starting pitcher the D300. Great video like always.

    what is difference between meg d300 and meg ultimate compound?

    • @minglingwiththou
      @minglingwiththou 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      both products are SMAT abrasives but D300 is more aggressive than the UC by a tier which in other words D300 cuts more . Also D300 is designed to use mainly on microfiber pads whereas UC on foam pads

    Thanks Brian, this is super useful. I will try D300 with uro_tec compound/polish pads and my trusty Griot's DA, to remove some light clear coat scratches on my GTI. I think it was dealership installed option when they put my car through automated car wash 😡

    Cool! I like the addition of the 5000grit "finishing test"
    If you had to compare this to Ultimate Compound which one would say has more cut? UC or D300? Also, hows the cut with a MF pad Brian?
    Thanks, as usual, for doing this.

      @apexdetail85  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Almost the same cut. Microfiber pads work great with this. D300 is the better all around product.

    Great Vid Brian‼️ Question: Would this work well with the Lake Country Force Orange Cutting Pad??
    Also if I wanted to apply The Meguiars Finishing Wax afterwards, what Lake Country pad would I us??...Also I am a newbie to paint correction...lastly how many pads should I use??
    Thanks for all your help & keep up the stellar work‼️

    • @apexdetail85
      @apexdetail85  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes...the orange pad will work well. The black foam application pads for Finishing Wax. Have a few pads nearby...clean them out after every pass so they can achieve full performance.

    I have a 2018 f150 with dealer installed swirls. I used ultimate compound with a harbor freight DA, and it didn't touch them. I hesitate to use anything too aggressive because I'm a DIY beginner. Do you think the D300 would be worth trying? Or would another compound/polish be more appropriate? I'm sure my technique/inexperience is partly to blame, but I have used the harbor freight DA and ultimate compound to successfully do paint correction on a 2003 Honda. I feel like the Ford paint is harder than the Honda paint that I have experience with. Any advice you can offer is much appreciated.

      Try the ultimate compound again but with a microfiber pad😉

    • @apexdetail85
      @apexdetail85  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      GM and Ford = hard clear use Ultimate, D300, or 105 with microfiber.

      Try doing it with D300 with microfiber pad or orange yellow lake country pad , do ultimate as a finishing step after correction or if you satisfied with D300 shiny result then stop.
