We are deciding between A7iii and A9iii I tried to find videos related to our search but this also was really helpful. Thanks man.
Man that’s great to know. You’re very welcome. They are both amazing. It really comes down to what you shoot. Good luck!
What, why?
I have the same setups. Thanks for doing the heavy lifting of the comparisons
No problem 👍
The photos are sick!!! Is the auto focus system the same on both, not the speed, but the autofocus system itself. Thanks for doing this.
Thank you! Yes it’s the same the a9III is just faster and more sticky. They both have AI also to learn.
This is really cool seeing this! Thank you! Lastly, all fj400s for the strobes?
That’s great thank you! Glad you liked it. Yes they were all fj400s.
Great video… thanks. Keep them coming.
Absolutely thank you! Don’t worry about that I am!
Great comparison. I guess either any camera other than the 9 you would have to wait until it was darker out to have more dramatic effect. Can I ask what mm lens did you use for this shot? Those are some bad ass shots you took!!! Another great video. Thanks.
Thank you! Yeah either that or use a different modifier like a deep focus reflector, or a strobe with more output. They were around 24. I used the 24-70.
The sun is visible in the frame, if you wait for it to be darker, then you won't see the sun. It contributes to the dramatic factor.
Well that was super helpful. I guess I'm getting both of them.
Hahahaha wow you’re an easy sell 😂 They are great though. Both of them.
How was the image quality between the 2 cameras? I’m concerned about the native ISO on the 9.
About the same from shooting at iso 250! I shoot that high or higher all the time with both the a1 and A7RV and have no issues.
why iso 250? why not lower?
Thank you, just ordered one today
Hope you enjoy it!
@@MattHernandez just subscribed to your channel, I really enjoy your teaching style, it’s real life applications, appreciate it
Hi Matt. Thanks for that. Based on your experiences with both cameras, which is better for general hybrid use not using flash or needing ultra high shutter speeds (ie not solely sports photography)? Thanks .
I really only use my cameras for those two main situations. What are you shooting exactly?
Amazing video! If you could upload in 4K it would be better to view the pics better. I'm debating between both cameras at the moment but I might go for A7Rv now with my A7SIII and probably A9III or A1 II later.
Can go wrong either way. But it also depends on what you’re using it for.
@@MattHernandez A7Rv for insane photography and usable 240MP mode + auto bracketing. A9III is near perfect camera especially that I'm 80-90% video oriented. Still A7Rv makes more sense for now as those are expensive cameras anyway. If A1 had Animal/Bird eye AF in video mode I won't bother with A7Rv but more than sure A1 II gonna be insane and might sport the new 2-layer transistor sensor which would make it on par or better than A7SIII in low light.
Also 100% will have PCIe 4.0 for CFEA.
Great video, thank you.
Glad you liked it!
just got my a9iii today and should have the 300mm lens this week to test for softball this weekend ...cuz i have not seen any sports photographers use the camera yet for a game and post about it ...just seen other youtube ppl talk about it but no real world test at events that we would shoot most the time doing highschool and college stuff
Awesome let me know how it goes!
How did it go?
@@enjoygary its awesome camera ...for day games ....for night soccer games the higher iso files with denoise are still not the best but they are usable ...i dont push it past 6400 iso and i have to use denoise on about 30-45% cuz the shcool here dont have the best field lights ...mybe for some other schools it might be better at night but me for i try not to shoot past 7pm-730pm ....the 300mm is a super fast and very very light weight lens ...it takes ur photos to next level if all you have is a 70-200mm
Nice, looking forward to more. For this comparison since you’re above 1/8000 anyway, I think it would be more practical to drop ISO to 100 on the RV because we’re really about balancing ambient with flash. Although I get why you did it the other way to show the flash power difference between HSS and not but even that would change a lot when you back off the shutter speed on the A9 and it can catch the full flash pulse. A9iii comparisons get really complicated😅.
Awesome shoot by the way, loved the lighting on him and the car, plus the lofi music to match was money.
Thank you! I appreciate you watching and the feedback.
amazing
Thank you!
I feel like you should've added another part to the comparison by using a VND so you're not losing power when you go into HSS
I would have but there wouldn’t be much difference doing that. A mechanical shutter can do the same thing as the global if you’re not going past the cameras sync speed with a strobe or taking advantage of the lack of rolling shutter. Thanks for watching I appreciate it!
@@MattHernandez true. I just thought it could've shown another option in a scenario where you don't absolutely need HSS. Your videos are great
@@cbrumley317 I agree totally if there had big a big difference. Thank you for the feedback!
Having trouble connecting hss on my Sony a7rv with my ad400 pro for some reason I’m able to shoot it wirelessly but I can’t pass my camera native hss 1/250 Not sure if is under my camera settings or strobe . Very frustrating ..
You should trade those in for Westcott lights haha. I would love to help but I’ve never used Godox lights so I’m not sure how you enable HSS on them. I’d call customer service if I were you…good luck!
Thanks Matt! Re adjusting your flash "timing setting" in the camera to shoot w/the A9 at fast speeds: 1/80k a second, you stated Westcott has the configurations in a field guide? Do others: Godox, Profoto, etc? Just wondering how to acquire.
You’re welcome! Westcott is the only one I know of but I honestly don’t know that for sure. What strobes do you have?
@@MattHernandez 30+ years… I think the shorter answer would be what strobes don’t you have?😝
Currently I’m using a lot of Godox.
Nice style!
Thanks!
why was he shooting non motion subjects at 1/8000 and up??? just seems like the wrong comp to test out the shutter speed.
Nope. Shutter speed can be used to freeze action yes, but also to underexpose your background and stay shallow with you DOF! Thanks for watching!
ND Filters:👁👄👁 Am I a joke to you? 😂
In all fairness, this is still cool and quite convenient! Nice video
Thanks! 😀
The difference is huge.
It is!
It was not the same.. the A7R5 had a differend F number :)
The exposure was the same, and maxed out on both. The point was to underexpose as much as possible. So I’m that regard yes, they were the same 😃. Thanks for watching and giving feedback I appreciate it!
Wow global shutter is really the game changer now a9 III pictures have medium format look to them...i mean high speed flash look which you get from leaf shutter to it and super high Shutter speed with flash made day light into dawn...
Thanks for watching and the feedback!
One can still do the same with Hyper Sync!
This video made me stop and think: The only time I’ve ever shot directly into the sun are early & late magic hours - I’ve never shot into the sun otherwise, thus I’ve never had a need for such super fast shutter speeds. Your shots were beautiful, but wouldn’t they have been better at magic hour?
But if I were to try this daytime concept, wouldn’t an ND filter solve the problem you’re citing with the a7Rv? With a dark enough filter, you wouldn’t need high speed sync.
It was approaching the magic hour as you can see by the direction of the sun in some of the shots. Light is better later in the day, but being a full time professional with a family means I dont always get to shoot during that time, especially in the summer when the days are longer. So having the option to underexpose when it's super bright is very helpful, especially with the power of the a9iii. Yes, and ND filter would solve that probably. I do use one a lot when I don't need to freeze action with fast shutter speeds, but because I shoot so many athletes I need both options. Thanks for watching and the feedback!
Is the Sony A9 III still worth it in July 2024?
I think so yes!
what a garbage video lol
What a garbage comment lol
Yeah maybe make the title more specific so we will know how narrow the comparison field is man
