      Her arguement is invalid regardless because British law does not allow for women to be offenreds of rape. S.1 sexual offences act (offence of rape) requires a "MALE" penis to penertrate a mouth, anus or vagina. It is biologically and legally impossible under current British law for a female or even a transgender male (female to male transition) to commit rape. Given that it is impossible to use it as a justificatio for her arguement because there is not a women in British history who has ever been charged with the offence.

    "Men and women throughout history have fundamentally cooperated to push back against **the absolute catastrophe of existence**." How I like that phrasing.

    • @justthunderbolt40
      @justthunderbolt40 5 ปีที่แล้ว +31

      Actually that was the only wrong thing he said. He was spot on analyzing the western society and explaining how competence is different than power, but to look back at the medieval times(or any other time in history except the last century) and say that men and women cooperated on the same level is pure nonsense. Women had literally no rights or opportunityes back then, therefore it wasn't a cooperation between equal beings:it was patriarchy.

    • @BaremetalBaron
      @BaremetalBaron 5 ปีที่แล้ว +61

      @@justthunderbolt40 I would say that is wrong. Men and women made tradeoffs, and many of the privileges men were given burdened them with heavy obligations, and women got a hell of a lot of entitlements and protections for the things they gave up. I can't honestly say the typical woman back then would have likely wanted to trade places. Indeed, studies of happiness and quality of life have traditionally had women coming out on top.
      The fundamental problem with the historical patriarchy argument is that it assumes power is MERELY power. But power, socially constrained within a community, comes at a cost, and actually takes the freedom to do certain things away. So it's really not immediately obvious who got the better deal when you look back soberly at history.

    • @justthunderbolt40
      @justthunderbolt40 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@BaremetalBaron Surely men had heavy obligations and dutyes to fulfill, such as being always available for the lord to call as levy in a war;however, wars were also opportunityes to become either rich raiding enemy towns and villages, or either managing to capture an enemy lord and being knighted for this. War was hell, but also a way to improve their position.
      It's right to say that power doesn't only come in strength in a civilized society, however the daughter of a farmer had nearly 0 possibilities to improve her position or to change her life:she would continue to clean the house and raise the childrens after marrying someone of the village. She could not learn any profession, nor marry a noble.
      They may be happier because they had more security than men, but this doesn't mean that they had the same opportunityes.

    • @BaremetalBaron
      @BaremetalBaron 5 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      @@justthunderbolt40 Fair enough, you're probably right that they had less agency to shape their lives. My point was just that many of the things they lacked (such as voting) had a corollary burden (civil service and conscription) that they weren't required to take on. Voting is a great example, because when polled, the vast majority of 19th century American women didn't WANT the vote because they didn't want to give up certain freedoms they already enjoyed in exchange for the responsibilities of service. So it's difficult to look at that as oppressive when many of men's rights were merely facilitators of their ability to provision and protect women.
      Also, the notion that women couldn't learn any profession is simply incorrect. There were trade guilds for female blacksmiths all the way back in the 14th century, and plenty of women were brewers or tavern owners or weavers.

    • @justthunderbolt40
      @justthunderbolt40 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@BaremetalBaron I didn't know about the female guilds, thanks for the information. Voting is an excellent example to show that often we value security over freedom,but in medieval times neither men had the luxury to choose their lord, unless they rebelled against him.

For every 100 women who are raped, 85 of them will be reported while nearly 99 of the 100 men who are raped will go unrecorded. Yes. As others have pointed out, by law, they can only SA men in the UK. The same in other places around the world, and in any case, in the vast majority (if not all) of the world, no prosecutor is going to take on the case. For some reason, we're supposed to be very concerned about what would happen if someone was convicted of a crime against a man... would that suddenly stop a bunch of ladies coming forward and reporting crimes against them? Never hear about lack of convictions and men failing to come forward...

    It's not all that difficult to destroy the feminist narrative. Just throw facts at them. JP does it quite well.

    • @leroy30
      @leroy30 6 ปีที่แล้ว +39

      The difficulty lies in the way they express and often twist and manipulate the narrative. Usually when you counter an argument, the woman/opposing person will say "yeah but this, this and this, so therefore it's obvious" and all you end up doing is defending against their ever-morphing rationale which plays out as you are constantly on the defense which portrays you as being on the losing side.
      JP is very good at his rebuttal, but women are very very crafty. My ex wife used to do it to me all the time. To paraphrase, a typical argument would go along the lines of "you don't love me because you never do this", to which I would feel compelled to rebuttle with "well actually I do that all the time and here are my examples". That then morphs into "well you always do this other thing as well so clearly you don't love me" and so it continues on a neverending path of justification that is completely ignorant of any facts or truth whatsoever. And if I simply said "I do love you" then I'd get the rationale of something like "well you don't show it, you always do this" and on and on it goes, deeper into the rabbit hole.
      JP totally nails it in this one, but he's still fighting a losing cause. She'll never agree. Only his viewers and followers will ever agree.

      P.O. M.E - What the hell is your point? The OP’s original comment was suggesting that the base infrastructure jobs are maintained by men. And your first comment is about who raises them? The question itself seems that you’re suggesting that these men were raised by women, which is why you got your first smarmy, but justified, response that they were raised by men and women. From here this comment chain devolves into a pointless, rambling escapade from you continually trying to reinforce some narrative living your head about family structure. The other guy tried to provide information to you about the average family household in the US and all you did was obfuscate and throw facts in quotes to try and devalue the information he provided. You then feebly tried to suggest that there were many variables to consider......of course there are! No family is the exact same, and yes there are large percentages of aberrant family structures that don’t match the healthy, nuclear family standard. But again, what are you even trying to say, and how does it relate to men holding the mast majority of infrastructure jobs?

    • @drogo319
      @drogo319 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      P.O. M.E - Then your implied point is something that I, and Toastman I believe, would agree with. But that isn’t all you were trying to do. If it were, his first response to you of ‘Men and women’ would have satisfied your desire to recognize both sexes’ contributions to raising young men. But instead you provided a provacative response about Dads leaving the family more often. Toastman even replied once more affirming his belief that both parents provide equally important contributions to child rearing which, again, is supposedly what you’re trying to communicate. Men and women need each other, right? Instead of acknowledging this you pivoted and deflected to family demographics which has nothing to do with your core point. Stop pretending you clearly communicated anything, or that you did so with innocent intentions about men and women needing to respect each other. No one here is denying that. Yes, the OP’s comment was a gibe about women who complain or overlook male contributions to society, but that doesn’t mean it was untrue. Nor does it mean he doesn’t understand the necessity of female involvement in family or society. You act as if because he made this comment he doesn’t value women by default, and as a result you tried to teach some other guy a lesson in male/female contributions. Do you not see the futility of how you’ve responded here? Please, do us a favor and just stop.

    • @drogo319
      @drogo319 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      P.O. M.E - ‘men and women’ wouldn’t even make sense in the context of OP’s comment. That was purely a reply to you from Toastman, but if you haven’t comprehended the difference by now then what point is there discussing further. Especially since you predictably resorted to personal attacks and cussing. And judging by your comments, I’m not the one with delicate emotions. “Real men.” lol.

      So many of Peterson's messages are things that young men used to just absorb via cultural osmosis. The need for them to be stated explicitly - and the associated elevation of the man who does that to hero status - has been made necessary by the perpetual "tearing down" of young men that our culture has devolved into. I am so happy I was born when I was. I'm 61 years old, and I'm not sure how many years later I could have been born and not been caught in that trap myself. The sad thing is that up to a point the feminists had legitimate grievances. It really WAS the case that women were long discriminated against in the workplace. It was appropriate for us to take steps to address that. The problem is that the crazies came in and hijacked the program and just ran away with it, and the bad outcome for women is that the legitimate issues got lost in that. Because now when we hear "feminist" it's not those valid issues we think about - it's the nutty stuff.

      @KipIngram entirely agreed. The terms used now on college campuses are "1st wave (legitimate) feminism," " 2nd wave," "3rd wave," etc. I believe current feminists believe themselves to be part of the "8th wave"

      Thank you so much for such a sane response.
      Something that came across as clear was that the interviewer was (in essence) reading from an idealogical script that was exposed as weak in the face of factual reasoning.
      Using the example of male on female rape (a truly wicked and abhorrent act ) was a perfect example of this and was (to use an analogy) clutching at straws to save the haystack of her general argument falling down.
      The intelligence of your own observation demonstrates the awareness that we live in a desperately unhealthy and confused time where slogans hostile rhetoric are casually thrown around in preference to open listening and thoughtful consideration of opposite view points.
      Disagreement with the prevailing ideology’s has been labelled as hate speech and forbidden.
      One doesn’t have to go back far in history to see that adopting this social framework is a precursor to disaster.
      Again. I found your reasoned response a breath of fresh air.

      Also,people should earn their way in life and achieve their positions based on merit,not because of a woke diversity quota policy.
