I have owned the Altroz for about 5 months and let me tell you, it has been an incredible experience so far. Sure, the i20 does give you more bells and whistles(although for a ridiculous price), but the Altroz does what a hatchback is supposed to do and it does it extremely well. #choosewisely

Tata is only selling altroz by displaying Ncap but the moment you enter the cabin of altroz you feel the difference in material and engine refinement Volkswagen and hyundai are class apart
Not to forget i20 will be as good as now even after 5 years Meanwhile nobody knows how many breakdowns altroz will go through and most of it's outer cosmetic parts will be in it's trunk because they fell off

Tata Altroz is the car to buy - the body is steel as compared to the other, the thud on the door when you close should give you a feel of the solidity of the car easily... also its a 5 star rated car, doubt i20 will get it... but in India, doubt these things ever made any value - Maruti with not-so-great safety ratings still is top-seller :-)
Buyer's are gonna get the car that fits their needs and requirements. So there is actually no better car. Specially people need to control their sentiments over things.
Tata Altroz is gold standard everywhere except in powertrain area... It needs more powerful, refined unit with a 6th gear (possibly a diesel auto)... Everywhere else its a gem of a car
I20 rocks see the cuts and interiors,tata still miles to go...proud owner of I 20sof every generation over past 12 years. Love u hyundai for your interiors and ride quality. Tata can never match that comfort. After 5 years every tata vehicle is same tractor...
a car have no sunroof or armrest cool glove box ..auto headlight ,auto ac, I appreciate . But in my thoughts a car should have rear washer wiper or defogger, adjustable headrest , or cabin light for 2ñd row ...as starderd..
If you have money go with i20, if budget issue go with Altroz, rest comments are only jealous people trying to pacify themselves since they can't afford expensive of the two. Both have their pros and cons
Tata is already selling as much as they can produce, hence they have waiting periods for nexon and altroz. I hope Tata takes this momentum seriously and rectify their mistakes (Better infotainments, lower cabin noise and vibrations, higher refinement levels)
Thank you autocar for incorporating the stats of top gearing and engine rpm at 100kph, one can not test drive 2-3 cars at different different showrooms these days and find out the same. Bad part is you didn't included the same in Scross AT 4 gear model, which would have been a real nice thing to do.
Excellent review covered all the Pro's & Con's of both segment leading engines. Truly Altroz stands way ahead when it comes to safety. When it comes to engine refinement & specifications i20 leaves it's mark, however in features Altroz doesn't lag behind at all. ❤️🌹
Tata is doing well in the sales department as well, sells an average of 6k+ units per month, good numbers there for Tata and hoping for it to increase.
The upcoming Turbo variant might do the trick. A projection of 7k-8k unit is very much plausible. The new i20 with a plethora of option is doing the same figures. Fingers crossed.
Going for i20 sportz...no hate against Altroz but it's three cylinder engine needs refinement, noise seeps through the ac vents. i20's drive is more buttery due to better refinement and responsiveness from it's engine. Last but not the least the after sales service of Tata is below average.
I got an Altroz XE model ,a serious value for money. Kudos to Tata to bring such an amazing car in decent price. I can say Tata thinks about Middle class section of people and wants to provide good and safe car at this price.

I have booked i20 sport petrol ⛽️ but I am confuse between baleno or i20 . When I have drive the new I20 Pick up wise I don't feel so good apart from that everything is good , Baleno pick up wise so good . I Need suggestions should I go for i20 or baleno
I20 is highly priced because it has 6 airbags, ESC, hill hold assist, tyre pressure monitoring system, sun roof, led head lamps, Bose audios with 8 speakers, leather seats which is not available in Altroz
I20 performance is same as that of sub4m compact suv,features like hill hold ,esp ,sunroof ,purifier 👌 but why people still sticks more to baleno ,I mean just look at i20 ,its seems future comes at present .,super advanced bluelink more responsive and smoother than IRA n suzuki connect ,I have i20 2019 but I still want to purchase new i20
i have i20 asta version and it is ruuning perfect. one thing i like about the car is minimum noise level inside the car. you didnt hear the engine noise inside the cabin. i got around 14,15 kmpl in city or 15 to 17 in highways. you got more mileage in other car brands but you missed the comfort of hyndai. this is the diffenrce b/w hundai and other brand.
Spending 10 plus lakhs on small car like i20 does not makes any sense. Highest trim Altroz is more than enough for comforts and features. Going above 10 lakhs of budget will open you to much bigger and better cars.

Tata alteros is a handsome looking car but Hyundai 120 takes over cabin and features which is more stylish and good looking. So the ultimate choice is price is not the priority than 120 is best car to buy

I think for the new update in 2021 If altroz gets INCRESE in 10hp it will be best in class in engine compared to i20 , features, safety and price. The Best choice

Altroz is the beast in the market. I20 was best but the excessive pricing is the issue with it not everyone will like to spend 13-14 lakh for a hatchback they will get a mid size SUV in that price.
Finally all the Alrtoz fanboys are quite. As always in terms of engine refinement Alrtoz can't match the I20s performance. I honestly regret buying the Atroz over the new gen i20. Should have waited 😓
India doesn't have a premium hatchback segment. People refrain spending upwards of 10-11L for a "small hatchback". All desires SUV for the money they spend. With all the missing features Altroz is far from being a premium product. There are too many shortcomings to grant it entry to this segment. i20 while pricier offers far more added features. Well the consensus in the comment section is a hatchback shouldn't cost 11L or upwards so i20 is the culprit. There stands the proof of an absent "premium hatchback" segment in the country. Besides i20 is much well rounded car than the TATA and that's why you see more i20s on the road where people spill their real money than in comment sections where sense talks low
Tata has come a long way and Altroz is in its first generation cloak. eager to see how Tata takes on their second gen.. i think that will be a much better package.

Only few buyers are opting for diesel in this segment. you should have tested petrol varients..we know in petrol Altroz doesn't have the chance to stand in front of others.
Apart from the car itself, TATA needs to work with their dealers. Bad attitude, long waiting after booking, I'll maintained test drive cars don't look promising. The question that comes to a buyer's mind is that if this is the kind of behaviour before purchase, how will it be after you have purchased the car! Same reason I dropped out even after visiting twice the Tata motors showroom in my city.

When the Hyundai launch i20, I choose i20 because of Diesel power more than Altroz and particularly refinement in i20 !

In almost every segment i20 comes the winner, I hope this hatchback will get a 4 or 5 star GNCAP rating. i20 costs in a higher side but it delivers.
