    Whirlpool wanted $400 just to come out and assess what was wrong with it. After cleaning out the circulation pump, I almost lost all faith. I thought this video was ridiculous, and guess what… it worked perfectly! You are an absolute lifesaver, thanks so much!

    Soooo…. Same issues with my whirlpool dishwasher. I checked TH-cam and found your channel and this video. I thought no way, YES WAY! It worked! Thank you so much for posting this!

    This just came out 3 months ago? Lucky me. Thank you for posting this. You likely saved me at least the cost of a replacement part or a technician to diagnose and fix the problem. I was able to fix my sister's dishwasher today by simply pulling it out and giving the pump a few taps with the handle of a screwdriver as you suggested. I really lucked out in running across this video right when I was starting to try to diagnose the problem today. Thanks a lot. You probably saved me at least a couple hundred bucks.

    After watching a video to clean out the same part you tapped. I didn’t see much debris. Plugged in and it didn’t work. I found this video and do the tap thing snd after couple of times tapping…MAGIC!!! What in the world!! Thank you so much!!!

      Yeah sometimes the wash motor can get stuck. Tapping it releases the obstruction. Another trick is putting the dishwasher on the top

      Glad I could help! I recommend a good quality dishwasher cleaner. I’ll link it, if it is not in the description. If you are feeling generous, you treat me to a cup of coffee. No pressure at all.

    Thank you for your video. I swapped the entire Pump and sump assembly. The dishwasher gets filled with water but when it hits the Spray phase, the circulation pump gives a small buzz but no water is sprayed..
    I am yet to try the multi meter step. Assuming that it is not supplying the required voltage, what should I do next?

    • @appliancerepairshorts
      @appliancerepairshorts  4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Sounds like something is holding up the wash motor. It sounds like it is getting power since you are hearing a buzzing sound. Trying tapping the motor. You can lay it on its back and press the start button. Make sure you can hear the buzz then tap it? It will start running if nothing is obstructing it

      @@appliancerepairshorts Will give it a try. You think there will be an obstruction with a brand new Sump and pump assembly. By wash motor you mean the circulation pump right?

    This solution may work for a while but if your inlet is not clogged the bearings in the motor are going bad and it will eventually lock up.

      The issue is people don’t empty their dishes, so crap builds up and slows down the motor. Then the motor gets stuck. Keep it clean and you won’t have a problem. It works 98% of the time. I have been doing this way before I started making videos. With older GE dishwashers, the motor would do that as well. Just a little turn and it is good.

    Will it not just seize up again though? Never a call back with that repair?

    • @appliancerepairshorts
      @appliancerepairshorts  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No, it will not. I have done this repair so many times. The problem is when customers put crap and cause the wash pump to bind up. Now it is sitting there stuck. Another thing you can do is flipping the dishwasher upside down. You are basically relocating or the debris. New had a call back. Knock on wood

    What does tapping it do? Why does that fix it? I was expecting a clog? I have the same issue and same washer. Just don’t want to call anyone in yet

    • @appliancerepairshorts
      @appliancerepairshorts  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      So the tapping fixes the problem because the motor is stuck, and it is trying to rotate. The tap releases the pressure or debris. Normally it doesn’t come back. Also not using your dishwasher often can cause the motor to seize up. Keep your dishwasher clean and clean before putting them in.

      I've been fooling with mine a couple days.
      I saw this video, tapped on the motor twice, and it kicked in and is working great.
      Thank you!

    It's all in knowing where to tap. Experience , The best thing to take on the job. I'm sure there are Co's out there that would change the pump just to charge the customer more money.
