Thank you!! If you ever want to share a video of diy pool maintenance or something like that please email me. I’d be happy to collaborate with you. Jr@warrior.house thanks again for sharing 🙏
Thank you so much. I followed your video step by step and was able to swapped the old one out and replaced it with a brand new heating coil. It was quick and simple. And it saved me several hundred dollars :)
Thank you and noted. Since it’s a diy channel I’d prefer to encourage people to hook up wires as they’re colored or were previously installed to be on the safe side. Grateful for your comment!! Thank you.
I just stumbled upon this video . I've got to say there is more info in this vid than than all others combined . Very direct and to the point. The one point that others are lacking is the reset/diagnostic test cycle that was explained. I would put this at the top of things to try because it does not require any tools or dismantling or removing anything. I live in Texas near the Houston area. We experience a lot of power outages which I think is what caused my heater to no longer work. After running the reset/diagnostics the heat was back to working. Don't know what I would have done without vid info. All components would have checked OK. Cycling would have shown that heater was not receiving 120v. I would have guessed that circuit board was faulty. Saved me a headache.😉
Very informative video! Thank you! A few months ago we replaced the heating coil and the dishwasher still does not dry the dishes. Everything comes out dripping and after a few weeks mold builds up in the inside of the dishwasher. I had never seen or heard of the panel reset until your video, did that and it still doesnt work. Any ideas on what could be the issue? It is the same model as the one in your video.
The rinse aid was my issue, so does that mean I have to refill it with every wash or does it get to a certain "low" point? I could still see blue (the color of my rinse aid) through the window, but it wasn't drying. Mine is a new dishwasher also.
That’s actually a good problem (kind of annoying but not something major). You just need to keep it full when you see the level is empty. There should be a clear sight glass showing the level.
I was too lazy to pull out the dishwasher. Put my old, wrinkly, skinny, no muscle tone arms underneath the tub and changed it out in 15 minutes. Thanks for the tip on the filter. Ours was moldy and full of fats, oil, and grease.
Did not realize I was supposed to change the the filter? New condo came with a verrrry old but working dishwasher. Gonna check the filter. But not looking forward to it. Might pass this task off to my son. 😂🤢🤮🤣
So my dishwasher door vent seems to be all clogged up and im nor too sure how to get it apart for the amana adb1400agb0. Looks super similar to your model. Any advice?
Did you perform the reset after replacement? Also check to make sure the rinse aid is full, I know that’s a weird one. Hope this gets you in the right direction. Thanks for sharing.
Good job but yeah if you can afford a better dishwasher I would certainty replace that one. Those float switch assemblies are prone to leaking. Your advice is good overall.
Our Whirlpool Dishwater from day one when we moved into a new house, new dishwasher, it has never dried the dishes. We even call the whirlpool repairman under warranty and he could not find anything wrong. Yes my water heater is on 120 degrees, we adjusted the rinse aid knob to the high drink setting(4). Filter and heating element is all ok. But here we are with my wife removing the dishes from the dishwasher and setting them out to air dry and then hand dry. Maybe it's time to just get a new dishwasher?
Even when everything seems perfect I know we’ve still had wet *plastic* dishes but other glassware is dry. Outside of that, I would be stumped also. Did you try the programming reset? Maybe the program drops the heat element during drying ??
My blew the curit breaker one day and it has water pooling in it and wint turn on ... Any clue what could be wrong ? Ima check everything but want to have a start point
Might be a bad flood switch (that can prevent the tub from draining) also could have something blocking the drain line and the pump is working too hard causing the breaker to trip. Good luck and let me know how it goes.
Do you mean the steam vent in the door panel? I haven’t worked on that but most require the door panel to be disassembled (screws all the way around it)
mine when it's done with the load , the sanitize light stays blinking while the clean light stays solid . so that means I gotta replace the same heating coil too?
I replaced my heating coil but missed the step of disconnecting the wires, which, totally my fault, and now it seems like the coil doesn't heat up even a little bit, any idea what I could have fried? @WarriorHouseDIY
If you mean you didn’t disconnect the power wires and also didn’t turn off the circuit breaker then first I would turn off the breaker for about 10 minutes and then re-energize the unit. If that doesn’t work, did you perform the panel reset (end of the video)? Let me know how it goes.
Thank you for the response on this. I simply unplugged the dishwasher from the wall rather than flipping the circuit breaker, and what I didnt do was the part with undoing the wires. I've tried to reset this dishwasher multiple times but it doesn't seem to want to go into a hard reset mode. I have a Kitchenaid KDFE204EWH3.. I cant find ANYTHING online about how to reset this specific model, everything I see is just generic kitchenaide dishwashers and says to rotate between pressing hightemp wash and heat dry 5x.. I've tried this probably 10x and it doesnt do anything.
finally just called them and there is no code to reset this dishwasher, its literally just remove from power for 30 minutes.. I guess I'll see how that goes@@WarriorHouseDIY
I greatly appreciate it.. I also had tried putting the old coil back in there just to see if the new coil was bad, and it also wasn't heating at all... so really hoping the hard reset does it.@@WarriorHouseDIY
Did you try a panel reset? I cover it briefly at the end of the video. Also the rinse aid needs ti be full in some units. My guess is the panel reset would do it. Thanks for commenting and let me know how it goes.
If referring to the plastic nuts for the heat coil, they should be a direct replacement or you can possibly reuse the old ones. But they are important because they provide the waterproof seal where the heat coil enters the plastic tub. Thanks for asking!!
Some models the lights will indicate a code. It’s best to do a search for a technical manual by model number. Hope this helps. Sorry for the delay as we just got cell service back a little after the storm. Thanks again for commenting.
@@WarriorHouseDIY I did and AI search for it and this is what it gave me. I would recommend checking easy things like the rinse aid and then working through a service technician manual (typically available online by searching service manual and your model number) Depending on your unit there may be a fuse or some other physical reset requirement. But start with the easy stuff like the rinse aid, it gets so many of us. Thanks for sharing and let me know how it goes.
I have been starting any screw by reverse threading a couple turns just to make sure everything's lined up properly and I can't tell you how many times I've had somebody with me and they look at me like I am mentally challenged. I take a moment to explain to them why I do that and on the one hand I really don't care whether they approve or not because I think it is worth doing things properly but I have to say it is a little soul crushing every time I get look of fear when they think I don't know how a screw works.. 😠
Didn't finish video because I need to get to bed. Ive been in appliances repair for 15 years. Lot's of bad heating elements I've seen! Not sure if he'll mention this but occasionally putting in a new element will short out the control board. It'll happen.
Just replaced my old Whirlpool dishwasher and the new Whirlpool dishwasher in no way dries the contents like the old one... I'd put the old one back if it wasn't leaking water.... thinking about contacting Whirlpool to come and get it
I agree with old vs new in some cases. Did you find the cause of the leak? Door seals are a likely culprit and very easy to replace. Thanks for sharing.
So, i call BS on the rinse aid about it telling it "not to dry - heat up" I'm now on my 2nd dishwasher, same issues. I'm saying what you claim is BS because I didn't use the R.A and everything is HOT.
It’s definitely not all units. I haven’t made a list of ones that need it but I always check the model numbers when there’s a problem heating. Thanks for sharing.

Really well done with first rate presentation, unlike we see a lot of these DIY videos. But I do want to note that AC circuits do not have polarity.

This guy was spot on with what was causing my dishwasher not to dry. Rinse aid is required to activate the drying cycle. Yes strange but worked.
Thanks for sharing. It’s such a weird thing, the rinse aid. Glad it helped :)
Wow this was amazing!! I think I will be able to fix my mom’s dishwasher and not have to call my brother, bil, or nephew. Thank you so much

19:02 what if you run the diagnostic and all the lights stay on for length of this video.. nvm it means the door is not closed all the way
Oh yeah make sure the door is closed all the way. There’s a sensor that can start to wear out on the door latch.
@warriorhousediy I replaced it and ran a cycle and no luck.
Have any other ideas about how to fix this?
And you did a reset and filled rinse aid?
@@WarriorHouseDIY Yes. The old element cracked in half when I removed it so I still think that was the culprit. Could that have blown a fuse?
