Another benefit of an automatic transmission is that it's a godsend for riders-young or old-who have mobility problems.
In the case of the Yamaha AMT, if the rear brake lever is placed where the clutch lever is, it may be possible to move both foot steps and evolve the shape of the steps.
It would then be like bike, not a motorbike :)
I came from cycling background and can see some advantage with a trigger shifter especially when going off road, but other than that it's a solution for a problem which does not exist.
The thing about every manufacturers going AT is that they found out young people nowadays are not getting motorcycles license anymore, some corporate genius thought that's because MT is too difficult to learn. But in reality that's because motorcycle has always been a cheap form of transport and that part has gone obsolete by the emergence of e-bikes/skate board alike. People also got poorer.

I own a Honda NC750X DCT and eagerly await Yamaha 's auto which I have heard will be rolled out on the MT09. Auto is the way to go.After riding manual bikes, l will not go back to old fashioned motorcycles😊
I think the Honda X-ADV 750 is the best example? There are consumers who wants that kind of auto transmission especially on Asian markets, there are more auto transmissions users like scooters mostly and if they want to step up to bigger motorcycles without worrying on the limited options, atleast they can choose what they want to buy. No hate Just Love

This is in anticipation for EU legislation for speed restrictors on cars and trucks which does not yet apply to motorcycles but that day will come. Motorcycles are exempt because the technology wasn’t there for bikes but the legislation will come. Auto makes it easier as the whole shebang is under ECU control.
I hate motorcycles with clutches I have a GSXR Hayabusa I can't stand it how I wish it was an automatic I can't wait to check out the automatics finally a bike comes out automatic.
