And somehow even then hashirama keeped up with madara and somehow won in their battle while they were reanimated. Not sure how. But hashirama had the oportunity to steal madaras eyes and could have awaken the rinnegan if they were to hypothetically fight while both have the rinnegan (somehow) then hashirama would destroy madara as usual.

But at the end of the shippuden, Sasuke surpassed Madara. Naruto surpassed Hashirama. Because at the end, just with a glance, sasuke trapped all tailed beast in genjutsu and sealed them with shibaku tensie. And at last fight Sasuke and Naruto uses most powerful ultimate jutsu against each other.
Naruto technically did surpass Hashirama, though, it just doesn't look that way. I honestly wish Naruto used Wood Release with his artificial Zetsu arm.

I don't think we will ever know just how strong Hashirama really was. I mean, he was angry that Madara betrayed their bond but he still wasn't going at full power against him in this fight because he still cared. When Orochimaru resurrected him and the other hokages, they were revived at half their power, yet it was enough to make Sasuke flinch and to make Orochimaru sweat. His full power has been left to the imagination. We do know he was goofy and free-spirited, while Tobirama was a hothead.
Where did you get "half their power" from? Tobirama straight up says they are close to their max.

@@Kal911 Sennin Mode doesn't multiply your chakra. It adds an additional component to your chakra making your chakra vastly more powerful while the amount stays the same.
You still have to balance out the natural energy with an even amount of your own chakra ...

Also Amount =/= potency. Itachi had chakra amounts comperable to Shikamaru / Kiba ( Second Databook) while Kisame had chakra levels far higher than most Akatsuki members as stated by Pain.
Still Itachi's chakra was vastly more potent and he was acknowledged as more powerful...

And no, nature energy multiply your chakra and the reason is very simple. Chakra is a mix of mental and physical energy, that's why when Naruto and other characters gets healed their chakra is partially restored, because their wounds are healed and so their physical energy is greater than when they are damaged. Another detail? Hashirama and Uzumakis clan are famous to have a great amount of chakra because their life force, strictly related to physical energy, is very strong. So their physical energy grants them an enormous amount of chakra. For Uchihas is the same with mental energy, when their sharingan evolves their spiritual energy gets greater and so even their chakra gets greater.
Nature chakra is a third component that makes chakra far greater because you have three parts to mix, it's like adding NoS while you're driving.
Senjus (and Uzumaki) and Uchihas had great chakra reserves the first because their life force and so physical energy, Uchihas because of their sharingan and mental energy (yang and yin). Nature energy is another immense amount of power that gets added. Of course it has to be balanced, so if you have 5+5 you get 10 with normal chakra, with sennin chakra you have 5+5+5 and so 15.
Anyway another good prof is Naruto vs Pain. Before Naruto couldn't even perform Oodama Rasengan without a clone and kyuubi's chakra, with sennin modo he could perform a choo ooodama rasengan which is several times stronger and that required immense more chakra compared to the former. And rasengan simply manipulates chakra's form, so its size depends only from the quantity of chakra you use, not the strenght.

Madara needed Kurama to go toe to toe with Hashirama while Hashirama just used wood style jutsu which is his original and sage mode which I'm sure he trained for and mastered. In other words, he was using his own power instead of relying on any outside source, proving which one is superior

I remember many years ago wondering how the previous Kage tamed, controlled, and bartered the tail beasts. Like how could anyone so easily just tame a tailed beast. But then Hashirama came along and cleared up all my confusion. Dude is OP.
When I first saw Hashirama when Orochimaru revived him, I wasn't so impressed. He didn't seem stronger than hiruzen, he didn't seem to be worthy of the title "The God of Shinobi". I'm so glad that Kishimoto showed us the fight with Madara so we could see just how much of a beast Hashirama was.

To me the impressive part about this fight isn't just Hashirama's sage mode, but it's that Madara saw that and was still 100% ready to throw down.
They are equally match, with hashirama being a little better. It's literally madara power to control tailed beast. Just like hashirama has the same power to control tailed beast. They went head to head afterwards. No fight is symmetrical all the way trhough.
He's not a coward and that's why I love his character.

Madara and Hashirama have fought numerous times. Ofcourse Hashirama is better, but they are on the same scale level and none of them have really ever defeated the other one. Madara used Izanagi to escape death.
Hashirama doesn't need a Six Paths Senjutsu or the Truth Seeking Orbs or a Light/Sun seal like Naruto.. he was already stronger with what he had..
Current Naruto in Boruto is probably weaker than Hashirama.

@@UndressTheBananae lost all his sage of six path chakra when kurama died he lost the connection with the other tailed beasts which allowed him to have spsm chakra. Spsm is a combination of multiple tailed beast. When he used baryon mode he burned all that up into nuclear fusion or something.

He still has So6P chakra that was provided by his Rinnegan whithin him, he was able to sense Momoshiki again just like how he did sense him for the 1st time (after Boruto vs Momo fight) so I assumed Naruto would be the same (I mean he would still has So6P in some ways) anyway, don't forget that he still has chakra of the other 8 Tailed Beasts & SM + in term of strength, speed, taijutsu... Naruto & Sasuke are still stronger especially Sasuke since loosing a Rinnegan doesn't affect his jutsus or strength or speed as loosing Kurama in case of Naruto, he even still has EMS (loosing Kurama was much bigger nerf than loosing the Rinnegan). I do believe that current Sasuke is stronger than Naruto but I don't think that Naruto is weaker than Hashirama even after the nerf. I don't know I could be wrong.

Its like he's in shock of what he's witnessing. Its likely he never even thought of the possibility Hashirama is this strong, to the point he just completely ends what he thought was the pinnacle with his own jutsu.

@@Tektabyte i believe he never knew about the sage mode or he wouldn't have thought that bringing kurama in battle would sort out the slight difference in power, which certainly wasn't slight. I think that whenever hashirama and madara fought in their entire life it was always base hashirama vs madara going all out, and so he never knew about sage mode.
Imagine if they used Multi-Shadow Clone Jutsu, and said:
Madara: "Would you like these clones to use Susanoo or not?"
Hashirama: "Would you like these clones to use Shinsu Senju or not?"

I remember when hashirama bringing down a perfect susanoo with just his wood & flower jutsu + Dragon Wood, then imagine that dragon wood is just a belt for a Golem Wood, and the Golem just a accessories in Thousand Hand Buddha's Head.

Both 3rd and 4th Hokage's present alongside the entire top brass of the village Jounin. Final death count includes it's previous Jinchuuriki and the 4th Hokage.
Kyuubi enhanced by Susanoo and controlled directly by Madara? Hashirama literally tears the armor covering it off with a single massive jutsu while overpowering one of Madara's offensive techniques, then completely disables the Kyuubi by putting it to sleep with a single follow up jutsu. Hashirama was an absolute beast.
After fighting for a day straight. Unreal. Sage mode + broken kekkei genkai = Godshirama.
No matter how many times I see it, this is genuinely one of the best fight from Naruto...
