To me, Kirin represents the pinnacle of "ninja" techniques. It isn't a massive move born from some ungodly chakra pool, it's not some DBZ-esque powerbeam, it's a tactical move born of ingenuity, the understanding & manipulation of one's environment, and an excellent example of minimum input/maximum output.
Yeah even with the Yata Mirror, it still seemed to have pummeled Itachi into the ground and dissipated his Susanoo. I think everything leading up to this attack, Itachi had respect for Sasuke’s strength. But it was at this moment he may have questioned if he was in over his head, haha

I love the narrative parallel between Kirin and Sage Mode. Sasuke uses his own chakra to manipulate natural energy into Kirin. Naruto manipulates natural energy into his own chakra to make Sage Mode.

The thing that surprises me the most about this scene is that BLACK ZETSU of all people is impressed beyond belief. This guy has been around since forever and has seen a lot. He saw Indra and Ashura fight each other, witnessed some incredibly cool jutsu and HE'S impressed. Pretty cool.
No matter what you say even Itachi was surprised, this was the greatest representation & delivery of a jutsu. The set up and power was very impressive the fact he could control real lightning just makes it even better
Kam guy is wrong, lighting counters water, wind counters lighting, in terms of difficulty, adding Chakra nature into the rasengan is one of the most difficult things a ninja can do, tsunade even declared the wind style rasen shuriken a forbidden jutsu that damages the user Chakra points, I'm sure a giant rasen shuriken could blast away kirin

Learning what Black Zetsu is, it changes things in this scene. Despite Black Zitsu being around for a very long time, this is the first time he has ever seen something like this, which means it's a very huge feat for Sasuke.
This moment was epic, because it supposed to be sasuke's achievement in making a jutsu that no normal shinobi can perform with a mere nature release. At the time, the world of naruto was still balanced

Its interesting how this justu is downplayed. Many in the fanbase claim that because it's not powerful enough to critically damage Itachi's Susanoo it's not that big a deal. What contradicts this idea is that Itachi actually took damage from Kirin; we see more scars on his body and his cloak has suddenly vanished. Which would mean that Kirin had to bypass the defences of Itachi's Susanoo. We know that Susanoo can only be bypassed with overwhelming brute force or auditory justu. So Kirin first had to destroy Itachi's Susanoo to deal damage to him; This is further backed up by the fact his Susanoo is nowhere in sight despite it having been used to protect him from Kirin; the idea that he just switched it off only to use it immediately after does not make sense; he does not have the chakra, stamina and even the eye sight to waste Susanoo like that. Either way, in order for Itachi to be hit as hard as he was, Susanoo had to go; as for which version of Susanoo it most certainly was not the ribcage version as that can be broken through by the Raikage's and Tsunade's enhanced punches...which have no where near the destructive force of Kirin. So itachi was probably using the skeletal Susanoo. So...Kirin managed to destroy Itachi's skeletal Susanoo, the entirety of Uchiha hideout and still had enough power to harm Itachi in the process.
Given how long Black Zetsu had been around for, and how many battles he’s seen, it actually tracks how efficiently he was able to dissect Sasuke’s strategy before Sasuke himself was able to explain it and prove him correct.
To think this is what Sasuke was about to do to Team 7 at Orochimaru's hideout... It's so chilling and really lives up to the unknown potential lethality of Sasuke at the time! And also Orochimaru was very wise to stop Sasuke from disintegrating them so they could thin out the Akatsuki for them.. That was really smart and very cool how Orochimaru was aware of an overwhelming skill this of Sasuke!! Of course, he's his teacher after all!
That's a bit of an exaggeration, the Naka Shrine is nowhere near as large as the Leaf Village. But if Sasuke wanted to, he could wipe out the Hokage Tower or an entire clan compound if he wanted to.
That is Narutos peak. I know people will disagree. But no unlimited chakra, not ultimate jutsus without it costs. We had a working power system without any kind of god like shinobis who could turn the world to ash with a flick of their fingers

If plot armor didn't exist in the naruto universe, Sasuke could had just used Kirin from afar riding his hawk to shoot down the kage summit with the 5 kages having their meeting. Karin or Zetsu could had easily pin point their whereabouts and no one would expect a thing not even the byakugan welders since Kirin isn't chakra related they wouldn't expect it as a serious threat. Raikage might survive it, maybe even gaara's auto sand defense (tho it's weak to lightning) but the rest would be dead guaranteed do the sheer speed and impact of the radius.
I like this because Sasuke manipulates nature by using himself as a lightning rod to guide the lightning at his opponent and it doesn't cost him that much chakra
Sasuke best attack is indra's arrow it was godlike(rest in peace Boruto Sasuke) but this one was definitely a close one for first. The entire struggle between Sasuke and itachi is just beautifully written.👍🏾
i'm sorry to say this to might guy, but sasuke easily has the best attack in the anime with kirin. it has strategy, setup, intrigue, a dragon, and overwhelming force.

In all fairness, Sasuke absolutely dominated Itachi strategically in this fight. Itachi played right into Sasuke's plans from the beginning. The only reason Sasuke lost was because he himself did not possess the mangekyo and therefore would have no chance of knowing about Susanoo. He also wouldn't be able to obtain such information easily as it is a rare technique even amongst his clan, all of whom are dead. Itachi was famous for his use of amaterasu and tsukuyomi but never used his susanoo. I'm pretty sure if Sasuke knew about it, he would have developed a counter against it, just like he did with amaterasu and tsukuyomi.
Totally agree! Nobody ever mentioned Susanoo before therefore Sasuke couldn't know about it! I believe that Itachi was absolutely the most talented among the brothers but Sasuke is the smarter fighter!
Just cuz he thought of kirin u can’t just assume sasuke would think of a counter easily, ur right abt him playing more strategic than itachi in this battle but if u rlly think abt it itachi didn’t rlly need to use strategies in this battle since all he rlly needed was for sasuke to use up his chakra not rlly to win. He succeeded to do this so honestly in my opinion itachi is a better strategist he just didn’t show it in this fight

Itachi had Yata no Kagami with his Susanno which is probably why he knew he would survive it
I believe he even says in the next scene without his Susano'o he would have died.

Its interesting how this justu is downplayed.
Many in the fanbase claim that because it's not powerful enough to critically damage Itachi's Susanoo it's not that big a deal. What contradicts this idea is that Itachi actually took damage from Kirin; we see more scars on his body and his cloak has suddenly vanished.
Which would mean that Kirin had to bypass the defences of Itachi's Susanoo. We know that Susanoo can only be bypassed with overwhelming brute force or auditory justu.
So Kirin first had to destroy Itachi's Susanoo to deal damage to him;
This is further backed up by the fact his Susanoo is nowhere in sight despite it having been used to protect him from Kirin; the idea that he just switched it off only to use it immediately after does not make sense; he does not have the chakra, stamina and even the eye sight to waste Susanoo like that.
Either way, in order for Itachi to be hit as hard as he was, Susanoo had to go; as for which version of Susanoo it most certainly was not the ribcage version as that can be broken through by the Raikage's and Tsunade's enhanced punches...which have no where near the destructive force of Kirin. So itachi was probably using the skeletal Susanoo.
So...Kirin managed to destroy Itachi's skeletal Susanoo, the entirety of Uchiha hideout and still had enough power to harm Itachi in the process.

Given how long Black Zetsu had been around for, and how many battles he’s seen, it actually tracks how efficiently he was able to dissect Sasuke’s strategy before Sasuke himself was able to explain it and prove him correct.
To think this is what Sasuke was about to do to Team 7 at Orochimaru's hideout... It's so chilling and really lives up to the unknown potential lethality of Sasuke at the time! And also Orochimaru was very wise to stop Sasuke from disintegrating them so they could thin out the Akatsuki for them.. That was really smart and very cool how Orochimaru was aware of an overwhelming skill this of Sasuke!! Of course, he's his teacher after all!

That's a bit of an exaggeration, the Naka Shrine is nowhere near as large as the Leaf Village.

That is Narutos peak. I know people will disagree. But no unlimited chakra, not ultimate jutsus without it costs. We had a working power system without any kind of god like shinobis who could turn the world to ash with a flick of their fingers

If plot armor didn't exist in the naruto universe, Sasuke could had just used Kirin from afar riding his hawk to shoot down the kage summit with the 5 kages having their meeting. Karin or Zetsu could had easily pin point their whereabouts and no one would expect a thing not even the byakugan welders since Kirin isn't chakra related they wouldn't expect it as a serious threat. Raikage might survive it, maybe even gaara's auto sand defense (tho it's weak to lightning) but the rest would be dead guaranteed do the sheer speed and impact of the radius.
He was only after Danzo who he planned to confront on the way back to Konoha. They only infiltrated to identify Danzo so Karin could track his chakra.
I like this because Sasuke manipulates nature by using himself as a lightning rod to guide the lightning at his opponent and it doesn't cost him that much chakra

In all fairness, Sasuke absolutely dominated Itachi strategically in this fight. Itachi played right into Sasuke's plans from the beginning. The only reason Sasuke lost was because he himself did not possess the mangekyo and therefore would have no chance of knowing about Susanoo. He also wouldn't be able to obtain such information easily as it is a rare technique even amongst his clan, all of whom are dead. Itachi was famous for his use of amaterasu and tsukuyomi but never used his susanoo. I'm pretty sure if Sasuke knew about it, he would have developed a counter against it, just like he did with amaterasu and tsukuyomi.
Totally agree! Nobody ever mentioned Susanoo before therefore Sasuke couldn't know about it! I believe that Itachi was absolutely the most talented among the brothers but Sasuke is the smarter fighter!
Just cuz he thought of kirin u can’t just assume sasuke would think of a counter easily, ur right abt him playing more strategic than itachi in this battle but if u rlly think abt it itachi didn’t rlly need to use strategies in this battle since all he rlly needed was for sasuke to use up his chakra not rlly to win. He succeeded to do this so honestly in my opinion itachi is a better strategist he just didn’t show it in this fight
