Watch review of the INVICTA 1953 ref 34334, still not sure if this is a keeper or a sell on...
Let me know your thoughts as it might help convince me either way!!

Rolex actually did not release the Sub. in 1953.
At Baselworld in '53, they displayed a prototype of their yet-to-be named dive watch - then labeled "Submariner Perpetual" - which this Invicta homages
At Baselworld in 1953, Blancplain with their Fifty-Fathoms, and Zodiac with their Sea Wolf, released their dive watches - the very first dive watches available - for consumer purchase.
(According to some accounts, Zodiac Sea Wolf was available even before this event.)
In wasn't until Baselworld in 1955 that Rolex had their "Submariner" available for consumer purchase.
Blancpain & Zodiac are the brands that deserve credit has the first dive watch(es).

Good video, Thanks.. been intrigued with this one, but I can't get past 'meh' feeling about it.. Invicta is a strange fish I think, A friend has the graffiti bolt, 53mm of horological nightmares, it's totally obscene and should be deemed illegal by the authorities but I can't help but really really love it.. and I'll never ever purchase one.. hahah 😁 Thanks again!

That’s too funny, but I think you might be onto something in your assessment. Invicta is indeed a strange fish. Many of their creations are totally unwearable from a practical standpoint and too big to display side-by-side in a normal sized watch case, not too mention being totally garish. The ‘53 is the exception, not perfect, but overall offers a fair amount of value for the money spent.
This is the only Invicta I own and I have no regrets or shame. I am generally not a fan of homages. A clone of something that is currently manufactured is not really an homage, just a copy. Anyway, an homage to something made almost 70 years ago that is no longer in production but has history to it is an actual homage I can get down with. I got lucky when I ordered mine. Bezel is proper and it keeps time well. Quality control is an issue from what I hear, but mine came in good order.
I removed the cheap strap and put on a Goldfinger Connery Bond inspired nato strap on it and it is fun and I enjoy it.
That said, many of your criticisms are accurate, but I enjoy this one.

@@thetimebombardier Thank you! Once you leave Submariner clone land, it gets weird. Some of their designs in the watch world is like living in a diverse and quiet neighborhood and there is that one neighbor that has useless weird customizations on his 2001 honda civic, wears medium Tap Out Tee shirts when his proper shirt size is large, and calls everyone babe and dude and smells of Axe. Yeah, this is what I feel when I see one of their 55mm watches.

What would you prefer for everyday wear. The automatic indicts pro diver or the lacz Denton submariner homage automatic watch? Trying to decide which would be a better bang for my buck. Thanks kindly!
I reckon the invicta 1953 as the lacz was not great when i reviewed it, many of the pro divers have too much branding on for my taste 😎😎
Okay well what about the pagani design over the invicta? Or do you still prefer invicta?

Yes trying to decide now between a pagani pd1661 and an invicta. I would like a solid automatic submariner homage watch for everyday use. I like the pagani bc of the ceramic bezel, sapphire crystal, and it looks cleaner. But I’ve read and seen that an invicta might be more dependable. I honestly can’t decide between the two
@@dra_1282 roger that - i've not owned either for more than a year but would suggest the seiko movement might be the deciding factor in that case; and between the two there is not much to separate them in my mind, might be good to get other folks here to share their experiences!!
I have never seen that type of Invicta box before, are you sure you got an authentic Invicta? By the way I live in the USA!

I have an Invicta 1953 and I managed to find a sapphire crystal online that is made specifically for this Invicta. It might be worth mentioning that although this Invicta looks virtually identical to the original Rolex 6204, the big difference is the dimensions, the Rolex had a 37mm case where the Invicta has a 40mm case. I have a San Martin version of this vintage diver that is closer to the original dimensions, I believe that the case diameter is 38mm.
