Hi Dan, nice to see you run the Worlds UW deck - certainly in your wheelhouse. Worlds was awesome! Loved the matches and what a final! Nice too that Arena had the event and it was free! I went for Marcio’s Fires deck which was pretty sweet to play. Nice to earn the World’s sleeves on both accounts. What are the changes you would bring for a BO1 deck
Hey CGB, do you have any vids/articles on general crafting/deckbuilding?
I've learned a ton from watching you play so I'd be really interested to see more deckbuilding stuff.
My first time playing the current mono red was against this deck, and I would have lost but the killing blow from his dream trawler milled him.
It gives me a warm tingly feeling inside when I face a mono red deck they make all of their plays get me to one and I come back to win with 35 life to their shame concede facing lethal 5 turns later. I did it today but I have added archon and dream trawler which works out good for me so far.
Paulo himself stated that this deck was not designed to beat Mono Red on match 1 but rather post sideboarding... So going on the Standard event is not a good idea...
Cgb just needed a challenge ;)

Can someone explain to me what the wincon of this deck is? I played a near identical deck against several people in play mode and even when I had complete control of the board, all my opponent needed was a little bit of life gain and I ended up self milling. Threw in a few Jace cards to make that a wincon and the next two opponents I got matched with we're running murderous Rider. :(

this build is strong in mirror matches with 1 DT, but vs other decks I would run at least 3 DTs
LiangHuBBB I think two is ok. With as many counter spells and elspeths 2 lets me survive a shatter the sky.
I" am really getting to the point of quitting magic all together. This current mentality of cant beat em join em really sucks! I am so tired of facing the same 4 dam decks its crazy. Taking the fun completely out of the game. Was not for people like CGB here would have left game long time ago. CGB"s content show there are other ways to play the game and I love it. But all this current net decking driving me crazy. Yes going to loose a ton its still a game. But when you loose 20 fricking times in a row to mono red really hits a nerve. Sure not only one who feels the same here. Any who keep up the good work CGB. Love your alter ego CGH by the way.
I agree to a certain degree. it's funny, cause atm I almost want the meta with Oko the Broko back.. ^^
I currently run Rakdos Control (CGBs version with some changes) through Standard Events & Ranked. it's quite enjoyable. I mostly get through Mono Red (albeit bad draws and them having god draws) but I almost never have a chance against UW Control. they just have so many ways to stall out the game and once Dream Trawler hits, it's game over because the card is so overpowered + they usually have either Teferi on the board or thousands of counterspells, often enough both.

Only two creatures? Is a really big gamble. A board wipe or a removal discard and you are out.

There's plenty of control decks running with very few creatures. Back in Dominaria-Allegiance standard, there was a Esper list with no creatures at all. The only wincon was getting the Teferi Emblem, making the opponent sacrifice all his permanents, then you just had to put it back in the deck as the only card left and keep drawing him over and over again - until the opponent was milled out.
Control decks don't need creature cards to win - as long as they can generate a source of damage or mill the opponent while not getting milled themselves.

gotta say, considering I chose Ondrej as my champion I'm a bit salty he got knocked out day 1, but PVDDR with the same deck took first place :(

so torn. azorius are my favorite colors but i always avoid playing meta decks because mirrors in general are pure luck fests.
Thanks for posting, I think your videos are dissuading me from playing. I don't like mono red, Wu control, or temur rec.

Well, it became kinda cliché to say that current meta in standard is shit, but what else can I say? This deck is just another proof... When I was furious about the meta during Eldraine - aggro decks everywhere - I didn't realize that Rakdos Knights and mono-red without Anax was actually only the beginning. Now the mono-red is boosted so much that there are multiple mono-red decks even at the World Championship. Imagine that! - these guys are playing Magic for decade and more just to end up with mono-red in their hands. Now we have this Azorius Control which is the same idiocy, but inverted. So while mono-red is at least quick boredom, Azorius is endless boredom. Just counter everything, smash and exile everything and then bring that stupid Trawler. Everyone now plays this bullshit and it even won that bloody Championship. In Eldraine I reached Mythic with Jeskai Fires, but this time I reached Diamond and am utterly disgusted and without any motivation to play further, because behind every corner there is this Azorius and mono-red stupidity. I have both these decks, have tried them out of despair and they are even more boring when played. Wizards are just ruining this game more and more - previously it just sucked money, now it just sucks.
