questing beast text never stops to amuse. it beeing an enchantment is a great meme.
This just shows how much power level has changed. Nowadays everything is so strong and has so much effects that the play/draw gap has become huge.
Really it’s more about matchups that affect whether you win then whether you win the die roll, with mirror matches being an exception. To the other guy I’m confused on if he’s annoyed by bo3 which is the best and most balanced way to play that’s been used for years since of course it’s used to combat the randomness and play/draw thing
@@antoniobush4560 He's just saying that you are bound to play bo3 to have something similar to a balanced game. Bo1 is just for monored (matchup is a condition as you said, but still play/draw makes the difference) right now, if this deck has a good start it can blow up the match at turn 3, too early for almost every other deck for a concrete response. I agree with you, magic has to be played bo3 which is its native competition format. But many people don't have that much time to play bo3 (in some cases it can take more than 1 hour for a matchup) or just want to rank up quickly.
My 750 quest today was U and R so I pulled out my take on your Izzet Steam/Flux deck from a ways back and remembered why Arena makes Izzet fun. The deck would be a nightmare to pilot IRL but watching triggers fire off is very pleasing. I miss getting to run it in Historic casual (sulfer falls and pirates pillage).
Long winded way of saying thanks for the variety of decks and showcasing the many wonderful flavors of fun.
Red is such a problem in this format. I hope Wizards is seeing that monored is not only way too powerful and consistent, but also makes the entire Arena environment a lot less fun.
Wizard does not care. Monored/RDW has been a problem since Amonkhet. And those pieces of shit never did anything about it.
Instead they printed Torbran.
I find that Jeskai Fires can handle mono red pretty consistently. Clarion, Bonecrusher and Teferi handle the first turns. From then on Cavaliers and Kenrith are too much for red to keep up

I play the dinosaurs with x2 Kiora x2 collision, x2 Shadowspear, x4 Wolfwillow Haven, x3 Stonecoil Serpent. (instead of your gruul creatures, shock, and embercleave) Mono red has a very different matchup with open blockers when Kiora is down, and the lifelink from Shadowspear. Also Kiora and the Great Henge work great here for going bigger and drawing more dinosaurs... which is more triggers for the Marauding Raptors. Wolfwillow Haven is that little 2 drop you said you really need in the deck, more so than the goblin. Just like your creatures costing 1 less the wolfwillow basically pays back 1 green mana after it has entered the battlefield. Furthermore, in that mid range matchup there are not many mana sinks, the haven spitting out a 2/2 when you top deck another land feels better. Turn 2 raptor followed by turn 3 Haven still leaves the 2 open mana for either half of Bonecrusher, Shadowspear, or a 3 mana dinosaur. Worthy of mentioning, Kiora can untap your enchanted lands, or your Great Henge for x2 mana. While I have been playing the deck I've done well at both of my local card shops consistently.
Sideboard matches for monored and blue/white is great. Synergy of mainboard already exists to make great use of cards like Destiny Spinner who can make blockers out of your lands that are often times 2/2s or even 3/3s. I use the spinner in both matchups listed above and it always feels good.
That's an awful lot of not-dinosaurs
I understand that mono red is usually a pushed deck because it allows new and budget players to have a chance against decks like temur adventures, azorious control and simic ramp, but it's not even budget anymore with all of the rares and mythics needed. Pre-rotation red was powerful, but a tier 2 deck at best because it didn't have access to efficient rares and mythics.

Hey man, big fan of your channel. One of the best MTG vlogs out there. What about putting some flings in this deck for some extra fun. Oh I don’t have a card to discard for the rotting dinosaur. Ok I’ll just fling it at you. Also what about running some murderous riders instead of bonecrusher giants. I really want to make a version of this deck. :)
I loved playing Jund-o-saurs before rotation. Unfortunately, post rotation, the deck just doesn't have the strength it used to. Losing Ghalta and Regisaur Alpha, maybe Ghishath, did a number on the power level of the deck. Not to mention, there are so many speed decks out there at the moment(Mono-White, Mono-Red), and Control style decks to keep the dino's off the board.
I feel like the auto shuffle determines who gets to win prior to the matches beginning. I got land flooded in a 14 land mono green druids, and I get mana stalled with a one lander two leylines and a pile of 2 drop druids. The game always makes one opponent lose. I tested this with a friend we played the same decks as a control every time I had the business my buddy had no good plays and the same happened visa versa.

Probably not as you expect. Ironscale only works with combat damage, it doesn't prevent the marauding raptor etb damage, and won't grow the ironscale. All it does is make it cheaper to cast.

As much as I like BO1 as a streaming format it's now pretty clear that it is and probably always will be a very narrow experience. Mono red is still strong in BO3 but can be answered with a sideboard. I recently watched a couple of BO3 vids and honestly enjoyed it very much. Maybe you should reconsider and try out BO3... even if just for a patreon vid? I'm watching for your insights mostly, not BO1... Heck I don't even play arena, just paper... ;P
I agree. In fact, I made a similar comment on the recent mill you kill you video. I have been playing exclusively Bo3 lately and it's really helping me be a better player anyway. I even prefer Bo3 for streamers because I learn more about sideboarding (which is real magic anyways). Bo1 is the arcade version
Playing vs azorius-cancer deck is boring in one match, imagine 3. Imagine if you play against it with another control. Literally one hour for a single bo3. Unfortunately now is full of azorius cancer so streams this on youtube will be boring for the audience. Shit is boring to play, imagine to see lol
@@jeyjey7777 that is how magic has always been. If anyone is not willing to spend an hour on a game, Bo1 or any other arcade game is totally acceptable; just remember that WOTC will likely not spend any resources to change anything to accommodate Bo1, so expect a lot of mono red and other aggro

@@jeyjey7777 indeed, the bo1 is generally great for streamers, but I like Ali and Jim as my other 2 favorites and they both play Bo3, so that's also appreciated. CGB favors Bo1, and so do his followers, so that's totally fine also. Just saying that people can't complain of the variance and aggro that comes with it

Today I played against some genius who ran at leat 2 Fabled Passage in his Mono Red deck...
I understand that red is frustrating to play against, but people will complain about the most popular deck is no matter what. Esper was the boogeyman before Eldraine, Golgari midrange before that, etc. There are answers to the stuff red is doing, Scorching Dragonfire/Lava Coil to exile Anax, Dead weight, tyrant's scorn, cry of the carnarium.
I love your created decks man, it's a shame how toxic the arena is in all aspects, it's hard to have fun with you run against red decks 80 percent of the time, temur in unranked, and always the perfect hand against white. It's a 99 percent chance if you see a hawk turn one thered a pride turn to followed by something brutal turn 3. It gets discouraging but you keep putting out the content, thanks man, love the videos!

Is red really this strong? I usually don't have issue with red decks. Blue/black with a couple legions end, a ritual of soot and an enter the god eternals just wrecks most red decks.

I really hate red decks in arena. Been a while since I really hated an archetype but it's way too brain dead and consistent with the shuffle and mana curve in Arena. Paper magic, it's not as egregious and manageable to play against.
Just a hint on the brontadon: because the sac is part of the activation cost, opponent cannot respond to the sac, so they would not have been able to bounce it with borrower on game 1. Just a nitpick to help your TH-cam channel algorithms 😋
